yeah, once again, jethro tull. just look up "aqualung" and see what comes up.
and yeah, saxophone is a woodwind. one of the biggest jazz instruments. and me <3 i don't think a lot of jazz is written for flutes. it's just not a traditional jazz instrument.

Number_09 KitoYasha Kikuka Rock flute? Cool. My band plays rock songs and they have pretty cool parts....but I've never heard of a single flute doing rock... Really? It's such a shame that so few people have heard of him. He's from the classic rock-era, and he's excellent. Not much of his stuff is played on the radio, though, and I don't think he plays the flute in every song, but pretty nearly.Jethro Tull is a band, not a single person. stressed I saw them live last year and OMG! Ian Anderson played a kick-a** recorder solo. sweatdrop I know. =P I was referring to the floutist, but I use pronouns way too often. Perhaps I should have specified. =X

Herbie Mann is an awsome jazz flutist do a google search on him and you'll hear some great stuff. He was one of the first official jazz flutists instead of doubling he pl;ayed it as his primary instrument and made quite a name for himself.
