I got mine when I was 11, and in grade six. I have no really exciting stories. sad I used pads for like..the first five or so years, then I switched to tampons and I've never looked back. Wearing pads feels like wearing a diaper to me. I hate it. haha. I'll wear them the first night or two of my period, because it's normally really heavy then and I don't trust a tampon to take me through the night at that time without leaking, but other than that, I stick to tampons only.

I remember it was in the 5th grade. I luckily was in the bathroom at my own house when I noticed that I finally started. I was so excited...what a dork lol

I was 11 (in 6th grade) and all the 6th graders had to go to "OutdoorEd."
I was eating lunch when my Gym teacher called me to the health room.
She told me that my mom called her and told her that my grandma found
blood on my underwear.
And then she offered me some Cheetos.
>.<
So now whenever I eat Cheetos, I think of that little story.

I got mine about a two weeks ago.
sweatdrop

It was in the morning before school, and yeah. I found blood on my toiletpaper, hid it from my mum and was extremely moody that day x3 My mum found the undies though...

Actually, I can't remember all too clearly.
But I'm ten.

I still dont really have mine and I'm 16! I guess you could say I started a year ago. I got my period but ever since then its been every 3 months or so. I use to get worried because all my friends started way before me and never had this problem. I would go months without mine. I hated it because every time I got it, it was like my first time, I never knew when it would happen. I just now dont care about it and think it has to do with the fact that i'm extremly active. Hell I dont mind not having to deal with it most of the time.

I was 13 when I got mine. I didn't tell anybody, because I was embarrassed and in denial; and in the beginning, it was really light anyway, so I think I went for a few months without anybody finding out. I just used tissues instead of pads, ha.

Actually, I was in denial about it for a long time, and I refused to use pads or tampons for years. What a weird kid I was. :O

I was 10 when I first got my period. I hit puberty when I was 9 and felt self concious cas I was the first in my class to start sad

I don't think I used a tampon till I was 12 or 13 becase I'm a competitive swimmer. I just decided to miss training. It's only heavy for 3 days then turns really light again. I'm still not used to the things and only use them when I have too. I don't like pads much either but I know you gotta wear something xp

I started my period at 12 or 13. I remember I was going to see "Mars Attacks" and it was the birthday party of a friend of my younger sister's. I started bleeding and the friend's mother helped me out and let me use her pads. It wasn't really scary or that painful. I just liked the "always" pads better than the stupid ones my mom always had at home, mostly because always pads had wings that would keep the damn pad where it was supposed to be, and it was like half the thickness of the other pads my mom had. That, plus the always pads have a plastic coating on the bottom, so you don't bleed through it.

For awhile my mom tried to make me use "natural" pads that she had made out of pieces of cloth diapers. I was all, "I'm not wearing diapers!" and that was that. :X

I hit puberty at 8 and started my period at 10. The story behind ity's actually kinda funny.

Mom had explained to me what a period was, but I didn't really understand. One day I found blood in my panties. I had recently recovered from a UTI, so I thought the blood was from that. I figured it was no big deal and shoved the bloody panties under the bed.

The next day, I was getting dressed and Mom came in. She saw that the panties I had changed into were bloody. From the way she looked at them, I thought I was in trouble. I wasn't. She explained the whole period thing to me again. That time, I understood it.

haha.

i started the day before grade 7, right after my brother had this really big party. nothing dramatic happened.. i knew what to expect. i knew what to do, blahblahblah, etcetc. my period is usually pretty light, so i dont know.. its just something i deal with. it doesn't cause me any pain or whatever.

but, my mom didn't find out that i was on my period until 6 months after i actually started. haha, i find that funny. xD sorry.

My mom took me back to our hotel room and explained that I now had my period, and I couldn't go swimming while I had it.

What? Why? I go swimming all the time. In fact, it's the only time I use tampons. biggrin

Have you tried talking to your parents about going on the pill? That might help regulate it.

Anyways, my story:

I was 14 (about a month shy of 15). We were on the plane going to the US, so that's a nine hour flight. About an hour in, I got my period. My mom wasn't having hers, so she didn't have anything with her. I had to load up my skivvies with airplane toilette paper (the really rough, bad quality kind). Combine that with the fact that it was very heavy (I've only been heavier maybe once or twice in the subsequent six years) and very painful.

When we finally got to the US and got our bags, my mom gave me her tampons. She doesn't use pads. That's right, big tampons. Tampons women wear when they've been using tampons for 30 years and have pushed a baby out. Tampons women wear when they get heavy periods.

These tampons didn't have applicators. You were supposed to just manually shove them up there. So there I was in the airport stall (in a bathroom crowded with people) trying to shove this thing into my already very bloody v****a. Imagine my joy at coming out of the stall, blood very visibly caught in the sides of my fingernails because toilette paper doesn't wash that off so well, smelling very strongly of period blood before washing my hands. "Out, out damn spot, out!"

Well, the positive side is that my cramp pains were overshadowed by the whole "losing my virginity to a tampon the size of a horse's p***s" thing for a while.

So we finally got to my family house (big house, my mom, grandparents, and uncles all own a share) and, of course, there was nothing there. It was also about 11 at night, so no stores and no family members awake.

The sheets are white and my mom didn't want me to mess them up, so she made me sleep on the wooden floor. By "sleep," I of course mean "lying with my eyes closed trying to sleep while groaning from the horrible pain."

Oh yes, this story should be over at this point. I mean, what else could possibly go wrong, right? Well, as it turns out, the general store in South Strafford, Vermont doesn't open on Sundays and we didn't have enough gas to get to the next down. Jubilation! Day two begins.

Good news is that by later that afternoon, my aunt came home from work and let me use her pads.

And that's a story I am never forgetting. I've also learned a very important lesson from it. Ever since, I have ALWAYS kept two pads with me when I travel. I just wrap them in a plastic bag and shove them at the bottom of my backpack. I am NEVER EVER EVER being caught on an airplane without one handy EVER again.

Haha.

You're lucky

Kukushka- gah! That's sounds horrible.

I started mine when I was 12. Nothing tramatic. I had come home from school and saw blood on my underwear so I went upstairs, got new ones and put on a pad. And, my first pad wasn't a small regular one. It was an Always overnight maxi pad with wings. Now, ever since, I've used those and they're the only ones I use.
My sisters lucky, she didn't start until she was around 15.
I'm not happy either, my period is supposed to start on Wednesday. I hate when I get my period. When I do get it, all I want to do is stay home and stay on the computer. The first two or three days of my period is heavy then it lightens up and most of the time it gets a heavy again before it goes away. My sister and I think that god must be a guy because if god was a girl she would have made a switch that we could use to turn it on and off.
