((Lulz, is Lakshmi prophetic, or what? xd Within a few posts of her telling Abhy the littlest one's going to hatch soon, it hatches! 8D))

Enfys smiled. "Yes, it did--" he began, when he heard the tell-tale cracking of egg shell. He whipped his head around to spot his youngest son, burning like the summer sun at midday, emerging from his pale, confining egg. Excited and without a word, being sure that Tuyet would understand, he hurried over to nuzzle the littlest one gently, reaching his snowy muzzle down to touch his youngest child's equally pale muzzle. "Welcome to this world, little one." He raised his head to look at everyone. "We'll move on in a few days, once the youngest can keep up with Iris. We'll go slowly at first, so the foals can keep up, and so they don't get tired out as fast from traveling so far each day."

Keshet followed his father when he heard his baby brother's egg shell crack. He had to smile when he saw the golden eyes of his youngest brother, so like the eyes of Ashia and their father, instead of the sapphire hues of Rikki, Niji, and their mother. Keshet's eyes were the strangest of the family, being silvery and a trifle iridescent. He was slightly disappointed that his three younger brothers were all white like their father, while Ashia was silver and he was black like their mother, but he was still happy to see the flaming hues of his baby brother out of the shell. They would be moving on, soon, and then the adventures would begin.

Lakshmi grinned. "See? What did I tell you, Abhyagni? He did hatch soon." She was very excited and eager to meet Enfys and Iris' youngest colt, but also wanted to give the foal's family first crack at greeting him. She would go over to say hello with Abhyagni and Tuyet later, perhaps after it had gotten something to eat or something. Seeing so many little ones around made her very happy and excited for the future of the herd, and she caught herself privately and absently wondering whether someday she and Abhyagni would have little ones at their heels like this, too, one day. That would be fun, though it might scare Abhyagni. Ah, well, this was all just a dream of the future. Nothing to worry about yet.

The tiny colt shivered, his coat still wet. He looked from one face to another, and then one moved toward him to touch him and lifted his nose. His body responded to the gentle command. The newborn forced his hooves in a clumsy ball under himself and tried to get up. This didn't work at all. He looked at his legs with irritation, finally opting to try doing this whole 'standing' thing one leg at a time.

First the forward left he jabbed out, bending it awkwardlyas he put weight on it. It felt like it was still in the egg, curled against his chest, and it didn't want to be anywhere else. But his instincts overruled his trembling leg's rebellion, and he stuck another hoof out. Screwing up his face with his effort, the foal leaned onto his two front hooves, feeling his knobby ankles complain at the effort he had to take. But he was young and full of energy, and naturally, light enough that his body would be no trouble to get into a standing position.

Of course, that was easier said than done.

Now he had those pesky back legs to get up.he stuck his left back leg under him and pushed, tipping to the right. His instinct filled in the blank where his conscious mind failed, adjusting his weight back to the left side as his drew his back right leg into place.

Shaking his head with a high-pitched grumble, the foal wobbled a few feet forward, coming nose to nose with one of his brothers. The rainbow-colored brother touched his nose.

The newborn took a step backwards, his eyes wide with surprise. He snorted in confusion. He tried to head backwards, but found he couldn't. Keeping one wide eye on his brother, he turned and tilted drunkenly towards his mother, knowing her by scent - she was food and he was dying of thirst.

Rikki felt slightly left behind when Iris stood and rushed to close the small gap between herself and his abruptly appearing youngest brother. He thought he'd give their mother a moment to do what mothers did and remained laying on the grass when his siblings suddenly crowded around at the same time their father arrived. Well... he'd better get up now, huh?

He stood and peeked between Iris' legs as the last colt got akwardly to his feet and teetered away from Niji in mild alarm. Well... he remembered being a bit weirded out by the adults crowding around as he and Keshet were first getting themselves oriented. It would probably be a lot weirder now that there were a bunch of foals around too, right?

He uttered a soft baby whicker to catch Temper's attention, and then slowly demonstrated how to turn around. Maybe it would help if he saw what to do slow enough to follow it? Then maybe he could show him how to walk, too! Rikki decided he was just about the most awesome big brother ever.

Ashia skittered backwards as everyone crowded around the colt, her little brother. Shaking her head, eyes still a bit wide at the shock of being the only girl, she didn't want to get tangled in legs. Sighing, she picked herself up off the ground and wandered a bit of a distance away from the group, to watch them from afar, where it was mildly safer. Safer from getting trampled when her brother tries to fall again. Laying herself on the ground, Ashia closed her eyes turning her head away, she too felt a bit... Left out... Everyone was happy that the final egg was now hatched, but really did they all have to be sappy?

Turning her gaze toward Rikki, Ashia watched him a moment before looking away again, she didn't want to move from her spot at the moment. She wanted the commotion to calm before going closer to her new brother. Feeling the sun upon her back, she remained content, though her thoughts were elsewhere, her ears remained on those about her...

Abhyagni flicked one ear forwards and one back. The foal was disoriented, confused; there were too many kirin around, crowding the poor thing. He backed away from the happy family, debating going back on patrol, but soon spotted Ashia, all off by her lonesome. Poor thing! The only other mares in the herd were her mother and Lakshmi, she was badly outnumbered. He walked over to her, determined to see her smile once more.

"Don't let your brothers treat you any different," he said softly, "give them a good stout kick if they try. Be strong, you're your mother's only daughter and she needs you. But still... I suppose it might get lonely, being the only one. This clearing is isolated, I haven't seen the slightest sign of other kirin, but once we're on the move I'll keep an eye out for other herds, herds with young fillies. The season's right, there must be some, so chin up! You won't be alone forever."

The little foal saw his brother slowly turn around, but the information didn't process as helpful. Still scared, his headed for his mother's legs, and eventually, milk. At first he kept one eye open to see if any of these scary kirin would approach him, but his intense hunger being nicely sated eventually relaxed him. He flicked his tail happily as he fed.

With two sons to attend to around her feet, Iris was unable to follow Ashia out and let out a nervous whinny... but when she saw Uncle Abhy trotting after the filly, the mare relaxed, and turned her attention to the foal suckling from her. This youngest boy was as sun-coloured as Erikkeni, both of them having inherited her scales. Also, they were mostly pale, like their father.

She could easily foresee these two getting along, oh yes.

"Enfys... what shall we name this one?" She asked brightly, nuzzling the hatchling.

Resting her head on the ground, Ashia had thought of taking a nap, before her ears twitched catching the steps of one of her parent's herd moving toward her. Eyes opeing once again, she looked up at the strange stallion, whom she hadn't quite learnt his name yet, head tilting a little. LIstening to what the older stallion had to say she looked over toward her brothers, mother and father. She should have been over with them, but it felt too crowded and was sure that someone was going to hurt sooner or later.

"I'm not afraid of being treated different. I'm afraid of being sufficated..." She knew a couple that were well at her back when other males their age were around. "But I could always just give them a swif kick then, huh?" She half giggled shaking her head. "But having other of my kind would be nice to have about. Certainly would off set all the boys." Nodding some she pulled herself to her hooves and shook the grass from her belly. "So where are you going?" Tilting her head once more, she wondered f he was going to go wandering and maybe she could go too? Her brother had wandered with their father and she felt bummed out that she missed out.

Rikki drooped visibly when his gesture went wholly ignored. Well... his new brother would start to figure stuff out soon, hopefully, and then he could start being a good big brother. He'd just have to wait, that was all... at least he hoped so.

He decided to wander a bit away from the crowd. He wasn't in the middle of the press of legs but all the commotion didn't seem to be helping. He was rather at a loss for what to do now, however. Ashia seemed to be talking with uncle Abhy... well, Rikki liked Abhy well enough, though he was kinda... weird sometimes. But he really liked aunt Lakshmi, and she was usually close by Abhy if not right next to him.

Well, that settled that, didn't it? He trotted over at the tail end of the conversation as Ashia asked Abhy where he was going. He'd missed the main part of the conversation... though even if he hadn't it was questionable if it would have deterred him from his protectiveness of his sister. He energetically bounded the rest of the way over, slowing well before he could accidentally run into the other two. He lifted his ears and listened intently for the reply rather than barging in any more than he had. Besides, if he interrupted he'd probably do something to keep Abhy from replying to either of them about it.

Enfys smiled, more than willing to give his youngest space to get up and get a drink. "Hmmm...how about Temper?" Why did he think of "Temper?" That had been his father's name, when his father had not been referred to as the Sanguine Tiger. Only his mother had really used his father's name, though...something about Temper seemed to fit the little one, very different from how the Sanguine Tiger's real name suited him. Perhaps a brighter meaning of the name for little Temper than old Temper.

Lakshmi rather liked all the foals, though Rikki was a rather cheerful soul, and that made her happy. She smiled. "I think you're going on a patrol, Abhyagni. Mind if I ask if Rikki and Ashia come with us? We can protect them, and they need to get enough exercise to keep up with the herd when we move on. Wait here while I go ask Enfys and Iris." Too excited to wait for an answer, she hurried back to where Enfys, Iris, and Keshet stood around the littlest colt in time to hear the suggested name, Temper. "Temper sounds like a good name for him. Enfys, Iris, do you mind if Abhyagni and I take Ashia and Rikki on a patrol? It'll be good for them, and we'll take good care of them."

Keshet quietly watched his baby brother, Temper, for a bit longer before slipping away to not crowd in on him anymore. Better to give Temper some space to adjust for the moment, and start hanging around him later, get him familiar with his eldest brother.

Tuyet stood to the side a bit longer, lost in a contemplative silence. So much was happening around him, something he was not yet completely used to. His ears buzzed with multiple conversations, most uncaught by his consciousness as he watched on. Finally, snapping from his thoughts, eyes darting between each foal in turn, expression shifting--but only slightly--as he began to truly understand the separate personality of each youngling. No one Kirindae was the same, he did know, after years of different faces.

Pulling his gaze from them, he took a slight turn away from their grown herd. It was strange, almost stifling. Crowds were sometimes hard to mentally wade through. Still, he thought he had seen enough to make a sound judgment. Moving back into the group, he neared Enfys and Iris, careful to step around and not on the foals when need be, scarf dragging almost restlessly along the ground. "They all seem to be growing well." he observed, stopping his socially acceptable few feet away and canting his head to the young ones wandering in their own directions.

"It may be time to move on. There is no better way to test the legs of a nomad than to move." Perhaps this was a vocal manifestation of his own wishes, as well, but he would not have made the statement without probable cause.

Temper, hey? Iris thought the name sounded familiar, but didn't pursue the thought... instead she considered her child carefully. A name, when given, was for life, and she felt a strange sense of duty in choosing an appropriate name. Lakshmi's input helped her decide, and she nodded once.

"Temper sounds fine to me... what do you think?" She asked her son, looking for a sign of approval.

She was about to tell Lakshmi she'd trust her with any of her kids anytime, when Tuyet stepped forward and put forward his views

It was true - once the last egg hatched the old restlessness had returned again, and she felt it more than ever now. As she looked out at her sons and daughters, she decided it was best to move while they were young, before any of them got too attached to one place. Besides... what was holding them back?

She looked eagerly to Enfys to answer for both of them, shining eyes putting across all she needed to say. Where he went, she'd go, too. It was just the way things were.

So concerned with milk, the little newborn didn't realize he was still the point of conversation until his mother turned to him and spoke to him. She was asking him something. Letting his head drop from feeding he blinked at his mother and tilted his head. Hearing the name again, he tilted his head the other way.

"Ehhh...Uhhh..." the colt tried to imitate them, but failed. He made an annoyed sounding grunt and gave himself a shake. Flicking his tail about, he glanced at the herd, now not so crowded in around him. His siblings had all wandered away, each of them a shocking set of colors, like their mother. The one who had named him, the large male, was also quite colorful. He looked down at his sparkling forelegs and found himself moving forwards. He didn't fully come to a stop until he'd crashed into one of his father's firm legs.

Temper sighed. All these other Kirin made this look SO easy.

((OK, everyone, I'mma close this RP; it's getting just a bit too big to handle, but we'll try other herd RPs in smaller groups!))

Enfys smiled and nuzzled little Temper, whom he fervently prayed in his heart would be different from his namesake. "All right. We'll leave in about an hour, slow, so Temper here can keep up." He turned to Lakshmi. "You know we'd trust you two anywhere with our children, but maybe another day you can take the two out on patrol. It'll be good for them," he said with a smile.

Lakshmi nodded and went to go tell the others. "Ashia! Rikki! Abhyagni! We're moving on in about an hour, so now's not the time to go on patrol." She smiled at the two foals. "We'll go some other day, OK?"

Keshet casually listened to what Aunt Lakshmi was saying. Good. They'd be moving on sooner than he anticipated. He couldn't wait to see the rest of the world with his family, and even though they'd be slow with Temper, it was only fair. Uncle Tuyet seemed eager to move on, just like Keshet, and Temper would need to go slow at first, to get his feet under him. He was purely excited for the road ahead and what it would bring, no matter how slow or fast, no matter where they went, no matter what it brought, as long as he could see new places with those he loved.
