Well, then. Tsubaki, if she's a girl.
And Melody would do her best to ensure the baby's health; she'd been speaking with her Auntie Luna, after all. And she worked at the maternity clinic, was training to become a midwife, and--
If anyone could help, it would be Auntie Luna.

Boyue can help too! At least with taking care of Melody to make sure she stays healthy and giving her a lot of love and attention. He doesn't know much about babies, though.
Boyue wonders when Melody would like to go to pick out things for the baby? Cribs and stuff, that is.

Oh... Melody supposed that would have to be soon, wouldn't it? Her Auntie Luna and Grandma June suggested buying secondhand; after all, she reasoned, these would all be things that the baby would outgrow within a year or two, right? No sense spending too much money.
Especially since Melody and her father both basically lived on an allowance from Grandma June for the past few years...

Well, Boyue is not sure...but, his guardian, Shiaree, offered her father to make the things for them. He is very good at that sort of thing, he makes very pretty things and owns a big shop where he sells them and stuff. She has also offered to help with buying other littler things because she gets a lot of money from the shop too.

For an instant, Melody felt vaguely guilty. She didn't want to trouble anyone...
Maybe, after the baby's born... they could get jobs and truly live on their own and...
Well. Melody didn't know what sort of skills she had that could pay the bills, but there were always opportunities to earn money on Gaia. Melody would think of SOMETHING.

Boyue is sure there is no reason to feel guilty. Shiaree merely wants to help and is excited for them. But, if Melody would like Boyue will try to find a job. He is not sure exactly what sort of job he'd be suited to, but he can find something. Perhaps something with computers-- he's good at computers.

Melody couldn't just ask Boyue to do something when she wasn't able to do it herself--
She found herself wobbling on the issue now; Certainly, they were under no REAL pressure to find employment, but in the future... maybe...
No. Melody wouldn't let herself worry about it. Pulling Boyue closer, Melody tried to project an almost forceful calm, as if to say that NOW, the time for worrying was over. NOW, it was time to focus on happier things. NOW, it was time to think about living together, raising a family on their own, and finally being ADULTS.
Everything WOULD work itself out. They'd see! Everything would work out somehow. They didn't even have to think about it as sponging off their parents or grandparents, either! It was like... learning to fly on their own. There they were, standing on the edge of the nest, hand in hand, and while it was a huge, scary leap into the unknown, they had a safety net just in case they fell the first few times.
Right?

Boyue nods. Everything will be fine. They are in this thing together! He will take care of his Melody, and she will take care of him, and they will both take care of the baby. That is the important thing. If they needed a little help doing that, there was nothing wrong with it.

Right!
Melody's projections took on a whole new tone of determination. And they're gonna make it as Gaian adults! And they're gonna manage their own household! And take care of their parents in their old age!
...

She quickly deflates.
