Band counts as half a PE Credit here, since the spring semester is concert band. But if you take band all four years you can get all the PE credits required, so you don't have to take PE. That's what I did. :3

I wish it was at my school! its like really bad that we have pe for 1.5 hours every other day so im already tired by the time rehersal starts.... Marching only counts for band credits at my school and those dont help u at all in getting your diploma... it just shows how much of a band geek you really are.... (i think i have 13 band credits right now)

I honestly don't think so. When I was doing it. It was considered extra curricular. I think it should stay that way. I'm jealous of the kids i teach. They get to have it was a 1/2 credit course and they do it for free.

I think band should count as a PE credit only if you are a part of the marching band.
At my school there are 4 bands. All but the lowest level band participate in marching. Yet, some people intentionally suck up their music to stay in the Junior Varsity band, not have to take PE, and swipe the gym credit anyways.
I mean, my school still requires the bandspeople to complete a fitness test once a year, but I think the credit should only be awarded for being in the marching band. (Undecided about the pit, however)

P.E is so stupid unless you're in athletics. When I was in middle school it was pitiful how LITTLE work the regular P.E classes did ( I was in athletics but quit for marching band in High School. )
:/ At my High School they don't do ANYTHING. The coaches don't even care. Girls will lie and say they're going to the bathroom and just sit in the gym so they don't have to be outside and the coaches don't say anything! We work more in marching band anyway since all three of our directors are super buff work-out-everyday type of guys. It's nice that they actually do the work with us.
The fitness test are stupid. They don't let us run, we actually have to walk a mile when most of us Band Nerds could run a mile faster than any of the people who aren't taking a traditional PE course. Me and my friend Payge who's in colorguard got stopped on the push ups and curl ups because we were doing too many for a girl. It's kind of insulting. Most people don't take the physical aspect of Marching Band very seriously but there is a definte REASON it counts for a P.E credit. We sweat. Just like everyone else. In fact during the school year we actually have to have class outside on the marching feild during marching season. (:
So yes. Of course Marching Band should account for your credit. I'd like to see somebody march for 8 minutes at 160 BPM wearing an insanely hot uniform. I live in Texas so they climate speaks for itself. :/ Our nightly low during the season is close to 80 degrees....Sun burn city for some people.

It doesn't at my school
But to be in Marching Band (which is after school) you MUST be in a band class.
To be in a band class you have to drop either 1 trimester of p.e. or health to fit all req'd classes
So yes. it should be...but I had to work my butt off and take extra classes to get all my p.e. and health credits >: (

At my highschool it did not count, and in college my class it counts, but the incoming freshies it doesn't. They implemented a new gen. ed. program, and it is like highschool where there has to be a health and learning aspect to PE classes.

In our school we have marching band once a week in the summer, and then two weeks of band camp. Then we also have about three days during the week after school , not including friday football games. Then we have competitions every saturday with a practice down on the field before we leave. All of that combined with limited water breaks, and a lap before practice should count for a PE credit.

I think for it to count as a PE credit it should be a registered class though. ( I totally remember just accepting your join request xD)

I'm not really sure...we do enough work for it to count as a PE credit, but if it did, then we'd get all the slackers who don't want to take PE. I think that would really piss off everyone in the band. xd
