Faolan sat upright, eyes wide. "You what? How?" He'd never actively tried to find his birth parents, having been completely content with life in the carnival, being raised in a bizarre environment by an insane old man. Now he had a chance to know where he'd really come from and maybe find out why he'd been abandoned. How could he not jump at the chance to learn the truth?

Ziazan fluttered up to perch on Crux, perfectly comfortable in the other Essentic's presence. Like their owners, the two were also two parts of the same whole. "At any rate," Zia said, addressing Crux, "they have similar humor and should be friends if they'd both calm down." It turned its head to look at Trystan, wondering if it should stop that particular information from being shared.

Trystan looked over at Faolan, obviously not having expected the other to go from bitter and irritated to curious as to his true family. Slowly, bit by bit, a similar old man with red hair and demon horns was forming his own picture in Trystans mind. The Chevalier family usually didn't associate with the group that the mutt was thinking of - they weren't on ill terms, but they certainly weren't acquaintances. Trystan had seen many demons with similar traits during events hosted by the different families they were allied with, and now understood why Faolan seemed a bit familiar. That family... They weren't half as bloodthirsty as the Chevaliers, nor as stealthy as the Diamonis. However, they were a group that could easily be feared. A dangerous smile curled on his lips. "I come from the most prestigious purebred family in Vargash." He said, a bit of pride in his voice. Yeah, he was a mutt. But if you proved yourself in the Chevalier family, and you had the utmost respect with the current boss, then you were good to go. Trystan snorted a bit, crossing his arms as he eyed Faolan once more, making small connections as he went. It all fit... And that rumor. That one rumor... oh what was it again? Remembering he needed to finish his sentence, Trystan continued. "Of course I've seen and conversed with the family that has those horns as their unique trait. They aren't the nicest family out there." Trystan smiled dryly. "You come from a rough pack of purebreds kiddie - I dont think you should go sticking your nose where it doesn't belong." Wavering his hand a little, Trystan turned his head to the side. "Anyways, enough of that. So, about that name of yours..."

Crux tilted his head a bit as Ziazan perched on him, but decided that it was a comfortable position. He liked Ziazan. He did not know precisely what the word like meant yet.
"Hmmm. That would be... nice." Crux said, the words feeling foreign to him. "Those two getting along would be much less troublesome then them... not." He tilted his head again, feeling a bit of comfort in having Ziazan perched on him. "Also, I am sure they could use more alliances then enemies." Again, had he a mouth, Crux would have smiled. Then he watched to with slight interest. What would happen now that Trystan had told this other master that he might have a clue to his past? Crux thrummed. Perhaps it was not the best of ideas. Though with Crux's logical thinking, nothing much other then the facts made sense, at that point in time.

Faolan blinked, taking it all in. "I . . . I don't understand. You know who my father is? What, um, what about my mother?" He clearly was choosing at this moment to ignore that his family might be incredibly dangerous, as he wanted very much to know who he really was, at least in the terms of where he'd come from. It dawned on him that Trystan had asked him a question. "Faolan. My name's Faolan Grady. I don't really know your name, either."

At Trystan's explanation of what he knew on Fao's family, Zia dug its little toes into Crux a bit. It knew some of its master's past from having read Fao's belongings and it knew some things were better left unknown. Sadly, it also knew it couldn't protect its master forever on wanting to learn about his true family. Zia looked down at Crux. "I have the feeling my owner will need all the allies he can get if their conversation continues on the topic of Fao's father."

Trystan watched the others reactions with a slight morbid fascination. He'd never seen someone react like this to simple words about relationships before. Oh wait, maybe it was just that he'd never seen over other demons act like this. Born and raised to be indifferent to things that were usually horrifying to others, Trystan still struggled to grasp the concept of what was "appropriate" for humans to hear without freaking out, and what wasn't. Letting one hand fall to his side, Trystan just cocked an eyebrow down at the other. "You shouldn't." He said dryly in response. After all, he had barely given the boy enough sufficient information for him to make connections. "Yeah, head of the Lafraunte family. Big scary man - no touchie. He'll eat you alive, bones and all, and I dont want to be responsible for your untimely death." The sarcastic last comment left Trystan snickering a bit and waggling his finger in Faolan's face. When he asked about his mother, Trystan frowned. What? Why would he even care about that? "I dont know anything about your mom. Rumor just says s**t about her being a human or something." Trystan shrugged. "And I haven't been gossiping with the diva crowd as of late, so I wouldn't know." Grinning coyly, he turned back to the other as he received a name. Faolan. Grady. Trystan had never heard that name before, which had to be a good thing since that meant no one was - currently, - after their heads. Snorting at the others last words, Trystan cocked his head to the side with a slight grin. "Trystan. Trystan Chevalier. An absolute pleasure." The dry tone in his voice was enough to make any man think that he was just being crude now. The sad part was that Trystan habitually sounded like that. Leaning back again, Trystan thrummed a low note of interest.

What would become of this, he wondered in the back of his mind.

Crux's band shimmered as he felt Zia dig its claws in, and methodically, a long mechanical arm reached up to tentatively offer comfort and a silent question to the other Essentic. Looking over at their masters, Crux thrummed for a moment at Zia's comment and nodded.
"I agree. Though, I believe it would be a wise idea if it were... to not." Crux paused. "Too much information is harmful. At least all at once." Nodding logically, Crux retracted his hand and turned to Trystan. "Perhaps we should move away from the alley, Trystan. It might be smarter to reveal information in a more secure location - if you are going to, that is."

"I agree with Crux. Somewhere else will be safer, for all of us," Zia chirped, patting the other Essentic it was perched on reassuringly. Perhaps later it would share its concerns about what the information Trystan had given would bring about.

Faolan nodded to the little creature, then looked at Trystan. "Might be best if you come with me to the carnival. No one will bother us there or think much about those two." He pointed to the two Essentics, the dropped his hand to his side. "I want to know more about what information you have on my parents."

He'd been only slightly taken back by what Trystan had shared with him. Somehow, he'd always suspected his mother had been the human in the pairing and now it was confirmed. What he'd been told about his father, though, bothered him. If he was bad, then did that mean his mother was in danger? For that matter, was he himself in danger? "We should definitely go back to my place and talk more."

Crux thrummed as Ziazan patted it, though it wasn't quite sure what that kind of action meant. Perhaps a good thing, since Ziazan didn't seem to mean any harm, nor did he seem irritated in the slightest. Simply nodding at the others words, it turned towards Trystan, waiting for its masters command.

Trystan cocked an eyebrow at the mention of a carnival. That was something that entertained kids and carefree adults, wasn't it? Trystan had never been to one - other then on a job, so he'd never really found any satisfactory information on such a thing.
"Carnival?" He purred in repeat, his interest peaked now that he was being given the chance to explore something he'd never seen befitting for his own entertainment before. "Are there bearded ladies and lots of liquor? Because if you have that, I'm in." he said dryly, with a fine bit of sarcasm, pushing away from the wall as he motioned to Crux that they were going to leave. Of course, Trystan loved liquor, and anywhere with that in store was anywhere he wouldn't mind hanging around. Hence the bar he worked at whenever work was slim. Cocking an eyebrow at the other when he talked about information on his parents, Trystan snorted. "All in good time, monsieur kiddie." Trystan said dryly, issuing for Faolan to lead the way. "After you then." He purred.

With an inward sigh, Trystan eyed the kid once more as he contemplated his options. He didn't feel much like fighting with him anymore - after all, an outcast Lafraunte kid? Sounded fun in Trystans mind. Though, he did want information on his parents. And the most Trystan had was the rumors surrounding the cases a couple years ago. Something about a dead woman and an angry man with no heir. If memory served correct, that was to say the least. Trystan thrummed a low note in the back of his throat. He wondered half heartedly what Faolan would do if he learned that his mom was probably dead and his dad was a b*****d one in its own. A normal demon would hardly care, however, Faolan was hardly demon, and hardly as indifferent as Trystan.

Pity, really.

"Bearded ladies? You have strange tastes in women. It's not really them you want, though. The clowns have all the good hooch," Faolan chuckled, moving away from the wall. He motioned Zia over to him, then tucked the Essentic back in his hood. Walking back to the mouth of the alley, he gestured that Trystan should follow. He wasn't sure he entirely liked the idea of taking such a strange and dangerous man into his home, but he had no choice if he wanted to know about his parents.
PostPosted: Fri May 08, 2009 9:55 pm

"Bearded ladies sound nicer then the women back home right now." Trystan said dryly, almost shuddering at the thought of the girls who were so straight forward and demanding - mostly for things not innocent - before turning and following the other man along. Naturally, Trystan didn't see any danger in hanging around with another demon - he really didn't take into possibility the dangers lurking in the carnivals place. "Clowns?" Trystan snorted, then he grinned lazily. "Do they wear red puffy noses and drink booze twenty four seven?" Trystans eyes flickered mischievously. "Because if they do, I believe I might get along quite well with them." Shrugging his shoulders at the others gesture to follow him, Trystan made a motion for Crux, and let the other slide back into his messenger bag, curling up as he disappeared from sight. Turning, Trystan padded sluggishly after Faolan. "So, how far exactly is your little carnival?" He asked - never having been fond of walking far distances.

Faolan quirked a smile. "We have burlesque girls, too. You know . . . strippers." He wasn't sure if that would appeal to Trystan, either, but it had to be better than admiring the bearded ladies because that just led to nothing but tears and lots of awkward moments. Not that he'd know from experience. Well, maybe a little, but the less said of that the better.

At the mention of the clowns, Faolan laughed and nodded. "That'd be them, but it's less red noses and more greasepaint these days. I'm not even sure where they get the booze from, but they always have it.. just like that baboon always has coffee. No one knows how or why, we just all accept it." He pointed out a soft hazed from lights that showed just above the skyline when Trystan asked his question. "Home is just over there. Not really a long walk at all."
PostPosted: Fri May 08, 2009 10:14 pm

Trystan shrugged at the mention of strippers. It wasn't anything he hadn't seen before as he strode side be side with the other. The two looked highly different in a sense, but the similarities in blood tied them together, or at least thats what the normal person would be saying. "Strippers." He repeated with a lazy grin, though his voice was kind of dry. "After awhile, that has got to get old, doesn't it?" Shaking his head, the hitman sighed and shrugged with a snicker. "Oh well - doesn't matter. At least when you're asexual as hell." Factually, Trystan was just pansexual. But his lack of romantic interest in anything that wasn't a gun or some sort of hap-hazardous weapons made most people think he really was asexual. And bloody hell, was he unfazed by just about anything normal.

Snorting at the mention of the clowns, Trystan couldn't hold back a grin. So the clowns were the best part it seemed.
"Sounds fun." He said dryly, grinning at Faolan dangerously. "Though the baboon is a bit farfetched. Where in the world did you find one of those?" Trystan snickered and put one hand on his hip, feeling Crux thrum from within the bag. "And why does it drink coffee?" Well ********, it was the circus after all but still. Tilting his head up to where Faolan pointed to, Trystan raised a lazy eyebrow. "Thats good. Else I would have just kidnapped you to the car." Trystan shrugged as the dim lights came closer and closer. "So, any crazy girlfriends I should know about? Lions? Scary ladies?"

Faolan shrugged. "I don't really think much about them anymore. They're sort of like family. Well, family that doesn't mind you watching them get naked, which probably sounds weirder than it is." Not that he bothered with the girls of the carnival anymore or anyone else. He liked to consider himself Ellandra-sexual ever since meeting the shy girl that had stolen his heart.

"You know, I'm not even sure where Da found the baboon. Everyone just sort of accepts that it was there and it likes coffee. Don't know why it does, but god help it if it tries stealing my 'World's Best Grandpa' mug again. Love that mug." Faolan looked at the other man when asked about other stuff. "Lions we have plenty of, but they're none so scary as some of the women around there if you upset them. Just the other day Marie from the kissing booth beat the s**t out of me for standing her up."
PostPosted: Fri May 08, 2009 10:36 pm

Trystan snorted. This man was the weirdest thing on two legs he'd seen in awhile. Strippers considered family? Awkward. Smirking, Trystan shrugged, crossing his arms a bit. "You have one weird family." He said tauntingly, but the lack of potency made it so that it just sounded like a bit of a tease and nothing else. "I can only imagine how ******** strange your dad is." He said, relating to the kids adopted father, not his real one. Hell, if this kid turned out the way he was, then Trystan could only imagine what kind of guy was taking care of him.

"Okay. Baboon is a mystery, and you people seem to accept anything thats weirder - or just as weird as you."
Trystan nodded with a slight snicker. "Pretty messed up. In a good way though." He added on, almost as an afterthought. He was still getting used to not pissing too many people off. Not that he really minded, even if he did. Snorting a bit on the comment of the mug, Trystan cocked an eyebrow. "The baboon got loose?" He said in slight cynicism. "Or do you guys just let him wonder around wherever he pleases? I can only imagine how strange it would be to wake up to a monkey." Morbid curiosity peaked, Trystan tilted his head back, watching as the lights of the carnival grew closer and closer. "So if I just suck up to the women and stay away from the lions, no one will try and beat me up?" Trystan snickered a bit. "Sounds good to me. Though I've never been one for pulling the charismatic act." Turning as Faolan noted on the girl from the kissing booth, the hitman raised an eyebrow and couldn't hold back a laugh. "Damn. Good job." He said, a hand on his hip. Now that was funny. This kid wasn't sounding too bad at least. "But why the bloody hell did you stand her up if you knew just how dangerous your women are?" He inquired with a slightly lazy look. Oh well. Anything to pass the time, right?

Faolan shrugged. "Life on the road is hard. You never really get to call any one place home 'cause you're always moving. People tend to just start doing odd things to entertain themselves and others, or maybe have something to call their own. We accept people for who they are or want to be, because we don't have much room to look down on anyone being thieves, whores, and misfits ourselves." At the mention of his dad, he smiled, a fond look in his eyes. "I'll be sure to introduce you to the old man."

He listened to the other talk as they walked along. "I'm not sure if he gets loose or just wanders around. It's one of those mysteries of Farstep that we generally just accept. Da always says the carnival is charmed, and I'd believe it." He grinned when asked about Marie. "Didn't seem right to go out with the lady when my heart wasn't in it anymore. I met a girl and fell in love. It'd be wrong to date other women now."
PostPosted: Mon May 11, 2009 1:13 am

Trystan thrummed a low note of mild interest at the kids endless chatter. Snorting at the comments he made towards his odd family, the demon wondered half heartedly what it would have been to grow up like that. Not that he was in any way wishing that he could be in the same position as Faolan - hardly, - just that it was a morbid curiosity that never ceased to entertain him. "So thats how it is." He replied simply, his dry tone never ceasing to exist. At the mention of being introduced to the hold man, Trystan held his hands up in a bit of mock defense. "As long as he doesn't try to eat me alive. I dont want to turn into his next chew toy." He joked a bit - not knowing that his words might just have been a bit true.

Listening to the story about the baboon, Trystan chuckled dryly. What the hell. This sounded more like an Alice in Wonderland sort of dream then an actual carnival place. But the boy spoke of it so fondly. That was weird, to Trystan at least. Snorting at the others talk about the carnival, Trystan flickered his eyes at the mention of girls.
"Fell in love?" He said, snorting a bit. "And just how long have you known this girl you're in love with?" He questioned shamelessly, the thought of digging for information not far beyond him. Putting a hand on his hip, Trystan cocked an eyebrow. "You dont seem like the sort of kid to suddenly stop your ways for a girl you're infatuated with." Crux, who had been silent up until now, shifted within the messenger bag. "Love?" He purred out, loud enough for his master to hear. The Proto was unfamiliar with the concept, and with a twitch, Trystan gritted his teeth. "Nothing you need to know about, Crux." He said firmly, with a bit of irritation, to which the Proto noticed and instantly fell back into silence, making a mental note to look it up on the young adults computer once they were back home.

Faolan shrugged. "For the most part, Da's bark is worse than his bite . . . unless he throws shoes. Those tend to hurt. Most of the antics around there, he takes in stride." He smiled at Trystan. "You'll probably like your stay at the carnival while we talk and you're welcome to come back and visit."

At the question of how long he'd known Ellandra, the young man blushed, looking down. "Haven't known her long at all, really. Few days. A week at the most, but . . . it's hard to explain. The moment our eyes met, truly met, I knew I'd never love anyone else." He looked up at the stars over head, fond smile playing at his lips, then gave a soft chuckle at some distant thought and looked at Trystan. "There's not much room for love in your life, is there?"
