Rivener startled to feel the dampness of that cheek. Had Sa'ida been crying? He fussed softly in his chair, wondering if he should do anything, but the next instant dispelled that notion. The rainbow frei's eyes were green again, and she was alright. She smiled. Rivener smiled in reply, relieved that she was okay, chalking it up to her being awed by the scene above them. And really, who wouldn't be? Riv nodded and sat back, allowing his shoulder to serve as a pillow, mindful of the sharp accessories she might hurt herself on.

"Alright then. It is beautiful, isn't it... almost over though." The whispered words were the only ones Rivener spared, turning his ruby eyes back upwards and locking them there for the rest of the show, which lasted only a handful more minutes.

The final scene, a slow zoom-out of their swirling galaxy, heralded the equally slow lighting of the room as the stars disappeared. Students began chattering together again and got up to file out of the room to continue on their tour. Riv floated upright too, careful not to jostle his companion too much. He offered her a smile, and his hand again to take if she wanted. "Wasn't that amazing?" he said quietly still, as though in a library.

Aphismet blinked, rather surprised at everything that just came pouring out of the red-head. It looked like... like she'd been holding it in for so long! Sympathy flooded the white-haired chef and he leaned forward, imitating her earlier gesture and placing his hand lightly on her arm, offering silent support. He waited until she was done, battling his own surge of guilt at the mention of the horrible thing that had happened to Chloe. Mild indignation burst to life momentarily as he learned that that man- That Man?! Chloe's brother?- had broken into Natchi's house!

"It's alright, Natsuki. I'm sure no one thought less of you. What happened was a deep shock, it was frightening, it's alright that you wanted to take some time for yourself. No one thought less of you." He sighed, patting the slender arm under his palm. "I haven't heard from Chloe in a while either... I helped get her back, but I couldn't stay with her after all this time. See? No one's perfect, Natsuki, it's okay. I don't know about Shuura, but Vyn's new owner is a good man who seems to think of her as a daughter. As for Julian and Gage..." A pang of pain shot through Aphi.

He'd never liked Julian. He seemed too cold, too unconcerned with Gage, treating the Raevan like he was just another experiment... And Aphi thought if he'd ever brought it up with anyone, this might have been avoided. But now Gage was gone and it was too late. "I don't know what to say about Julian and Gage. It's terrible... Ah, don't cry, it's okay," Aphi spoke softly, soothingly, knowing not to let others overhear that his friend was welling up. He moved his hand up to wipe that tear from her cheek, smiling sheepishly. "There's nothing anyone could have done, you know." He wasn't sure he fully believed it, but it had to be true. It had to be.

Once the show concluded, Sa'ida took a deep breath, releasing it slowly and deliberately. The night sky in the day time was pretty, but still not as pretty as the real deal. She was happy that she could enjoy it with someone who wouldn't have lapsed into a coma midway through. "Yes, but can we watch the real night sky together sometime?" she asked, slowly taking his hand. Her body felt strangely heavy, and he head surprisingly light. The young Frei did so at a leisurely pace, hoping the other children with their staring problems would file out quickly.

She liked spending time with Rivener, and they had only just met. "Shall we go, Sir?" Sa'ida giggled feeling a surge of resilience. Natchi and Aphismet were waiting on them. The show was great, but the guardians couldn't sit there drinking bad coffee all morning, now could they?

Natsuki simply gave into the emotions washing over her. It felt good to finally unload everything, though her timing and location left much to be desired. "I'm surprised that I even stayed in that house after he broke in, leaving a ransom note and Chloe's glasses on my pillow in my bedroom." the redhead couldn't help it. Somehow, the police had covered up many of the details. "I had to stay with Kyou and Tsu for a little because I couldn't even stand to be in my own home. The police were no help either..."

She placed her own hand atop Aphismet's comforting one. How long had it been since she'd even been close to someone else. Not in the intimate sense, but even just in the friendly one? She couldn't remember. What started out as 'just a cup of coffee' had gone completely the opposite way."Aphi, I'm sorry, I usually have better control..." she apologized, taking her hand from his and reaching into her purse for her handkerchief. As Aphismet talking about his experience with helping Chloe, peppering his story with reassuring words, she relaxed.

Natsuki listened intently, as if his up-to-date information was purifying her heart and absolving her state of solitude. Though she didn't like the idea of Vyn with someone else, at least that individual was taking good care of her. She was impressed with his diplomacy in regard to Julian, as the young scientist was notorious for his 'people skills'. When Aphismet touched her cheek, her eyes instantly closed. Such a simple, empathetic gesture, put her aching heart at ease. Passersby might misconstrue their interaction as intimate, like several of the departing school kids did, but at least Natsuki understood Aphismet's unspoken intentions.

"Thank you for just-- listening and being here, Aphismet. I guess today's my lucky day. Coffee and a therapy session all for under $3.50, and I didn't even pay. I should be the one paying you." she said, opening her eyes slowly and bringing her handkerchief to her eyes. Sai'da and Rivener would be floating up at any moment and she couldn't be seen like this.

Rivener followed Sa'ida's pace, floating forward slowly and ignoring all the other people who stared at them. He offered his colorful friend a smile and a nod, agreeing easily to her request. "Yes, of course we can. The next time I go to Gambino for any reason, I'll make sure to find you on your home's roof at night." He grinned at their shared secrets. "It will be nice, and maybe the stars will tell me something about you! It's hard to understand stars, you know. They don't talk very clearly."

Sai's giggly question made Rivener chuckle, leading the frei out of the room. "Yes, let's. Who knows what those two humans of ours are up to."

Leaving the room, as it turns out, was only part of the obstacles they'd have to cross on their gauntlet to get back to the coffee bar. Once Riv and Sai made it past the bottleneck of students at the door to the Star Room, they had to navigate large groupings of the young people that stopped at this station or that display, all corralled into place by their teachers who were loudly explaining what anyone could have easily read for themselves on the plaques. It was annoying and boisterous, and the Scorpion carefully tugged Sai around the crowds, sometimes using his wings to sneakily shove people aside if they were coming too close. Finally the pair made it to the front lobby, a straight shot to the coffee shop. "Whew! That was more difficult than usual," he complained. "But, there are our guardians!" Riv spotted the two sitting by a window.

Aphismet glared down at the table. The thought of Cody doing something like that to Natsuki, to anyone was despicable. Hn, Aphi still regretted not outright killing that abomination of a man. "Don't apologize, Natsuki, I really don't mind. It's okay, it's better to let it all out than bottle it in." The chef offered a soft smile and a tilt of his head, patting her arm one last time before he sat back, watching her bring the handkerchief from her purse to her eyes.

"If you ever need to talk more, Natsuki, I'll be a phone call away. Don't be shy. And I'd hardly think you need to pay me, since I'll be getting free cake in the future that will most likely cost more than 3.50$." The chef chuckled softly.

"Ah, there's an influx of kids out there... the star showing must be over. Are you okay to see the Raevans yet? I can intercept and stall them if you like."

Sa'ida enjoyed being at Rivener's side. She ws convinced that he some sort of magical powers as the kids kept getting out of their way. Taking a look at spines running down his wings, she got a very good idea as to why. Unlike her simple, crystaline wings, his were leathery and meanacing. He looked like an unlikely hero in a story. Perhaps it was the hair. Sa'i really liked his hair, and voice, and secrets.

"I like watching the full moon. Oh look, there's a meteor shower coming soon!" the rainbow Frei smiled, pointing to a poster near the exit. An impish smile traced her lips at the thought of a night time meeting with Rivener. She'd have to tell Natchi though, at least that he was coming over."Do you really think the stars will talk about me? I hope they say nice things. I've been a good girl, I promise!"

Seeing Aphismet and Natsuki together at the coffee shop made her smile. It was nice to see her guardian actually taking time to enjoy a cup of coffee with someone.

"No. No. I should be fine. Thank you though, Aphismet. You're a lifesaver," Natsuki reassured him, taking a deep breath. Setting her handkerchief on the table, she reached into her purse and took out her compact, a lip gloss and a bottle of eye drops. In 90 seconds flat, her drops were in, lips were glossed, and she was slapping the compact shut. In a quick sweeping motion all the items, including the hand kerchief were back in her purse. "Let's meet them half-way. It'll be easier to get to the garden." Natsuki gave Aphismet another soft smile, appreciating his well-times humor. "...and you're right about my cakes. There's a reason why I am the Queen of Cafes in Gambino, Aphi. When you visit, you shall have a feast fit for a king."

Rivener noticed the poster about the meteor shower just as Sa'ida pointed to it, smiling widely. He'd read about that online, and was very much looking forward to it! It was going to be soon, now. Hm, Riv wondered if he might get a ticket to Gambino and perhaps be able to watch that pretty night-time show with Sai... Although would her eyes turn white again, would she cry? He knew it was probably nothing earlier, but it still worried him somewhat.

"I like watching the moon too. It tastes very good, moonlight. And as for the stars, they don't say much that's nice or not nice, just things. Like what's going to happen to you tomorrow, that kind of thing. Only I can't really understand most of the time. Like riddles." The Scorpion was floating forward still, slowly now, taking their time before they got to the humans. "Don't forget, this is a secret okay? Don't let Aphi know."

Aphismet watched with raised eyebrows as Natsuki did that Girl Thing with the compact, wholly changing her appearance from someone who'd just cried and spilled her heart out to someone who looked right as rain. It was always amazing how females had this weird innate skill with makeup. The chef downed the rest of his coffee and got to his feet as Natsuki announced that they should meet the young ones over there, smiling at the last comments. "I'm very much looking forward to it!" the chef admitted.

Rivener smiled at Aphi and Natsuki as they walked towards the two floating Raevans. "Done with your coffee?" he asked.

"Yeah. Done with your star-gazing? Natsuki and I thought we'd all enjoy a walk in the outdoor garden before we left for home. Is that good?" Aphi smiled nervously to see Rivener holding the girl-frei's hand. Eeesh, he dreaded to think of what his Casanova-like Sigel might have done while the two were alone in the dark of the star room...

"Sounds good to me. ...Sai?" Riv asked, turning to her for an opinion. Although really, he figured she would enjoy it.
PostPosted: Thu Apr 30, 2009 7:57 pm

When Rivener said that he'd travel all the way to Gaminbo to visit, not only her smile, but all of Sa'ida's colors grew brighter. Even if they didn't get to play during her favorite time of day, at least it would be something they could do together! Just the two of them.

"I-I-I- won't tell Aphi, but I might need to tell Natchi. After a friend of hers was taken, some man broke into the house. He scared her really bad. Natchi won't talk about it much, but she told me to always tell when someone is coming over," Sa'ida whispered to Rivener, with an apologetic look her in eyes. Holding his arm gently, she squeezed it, hoping he'd understand despite the lack of information or details. "I hope that's okay. Whatever happened was just really, really bad."

Natsuki nodded in agreement with Aphismet a last time, as their reaevans approached. A soft smile tugged at her lips seeing Sa'ida cozied up beside Rivener. Something was different about the Sigel-- aside from his rather... robust new torso. Unlike in their meetings so very long ago, he seemed calmer almost gentler. Last time she'd seen Rivener, he was impulsive and rebellious. It didn't seem like the raevan she met so long ago. "Perhaps, we'll catch the show next time," Natsuki mused, looking at how happy her young Frei was, despite spending so much time in the dark. From she remembered Rivener had a 'special connection' with Roux, so hopefully the icy raevan wouldn't see her little girl as competition.

The next time she'd see Chloe, they would need to have a loooooooong talk. The cafe manager didn't feel guilty about spending with the chef, or her close gal pal's ex-- she didn't quantify the situation as such. She was just as much Aphismet's friend as she was Chloe's. As far as she was concerned, she was Switzerland-- neutral. "Thanks for taking care of her, Rivener. I hope she didn't chat your ears off."

"What are you waiting for, slowpokes! Let's make like a tree and leaf!!" Sa'ida giggled, craning her neck, trying to figure the fastest way outside and into the sunshine! So many pretty, pretty roses.

Rivener turned one last time to Sa'ida as she said that she would need to tell Natchi. At first Rivener didn't understand why it was so important that the red-head knew about it, but after a moment it dawned on him that the frei thought he meant the visit was a secret. He had meant the star-speaking was a secret! He'd clear that up with her once they were apart from the group enough that he'd be able to talk without being overheard.

"Ah, she was fine, Natch- I mean Natsuki. She only talked a little bit and only got shushed once." The Scorpion smirked over at Sai, teasing lightly. "Come on then, Sai, this way." Rivener led the girl out the large glass doors easily, knowing the way quite well by now. He hurried ahead of the two humans, both because he knew how eager his companion seemed for the colors and the sunshine, and because he wanted to clear up the little misunderstanding. "I wanted to tell you, Sai; it's okay to tell Natchi I'm coming over. What I wanted you to remember to keep secret was the part about me listening to the stars. Because Aphi doesn't know, and I'm not really sure I want him to know just yet, okay? Maybe this talking will just end sometime in the future, so I want to wait before informing him. Alright?" He smiled, pausing before a large rosebush where the flowers grew in dark shades of red that matched him. He liked these. And strangely, he liked the blue ones.

Aphismet was following languidly, walking with his hands in his pockets and looking rather content with letting the Raevans hurry ahead. "Sa'ida is really lovely. You must be proud." The chef still couldn't quite shake the suspicion that Rivener might have gotten a little TOO friendly, so the dark eyes riveted themselves onto the two floating torsoes, observing their every behavior for any hint of inappropriateness. So far, though, it looked completely... innocent. The same way Riv was towards Vyn. He seemed to dote on the colorful Sa'ida without harboring any kind of ulterior motive. Hunh. Since when had Rivener become so... decent? He used to be a damned menace that Aphi couldn't take his eyes off of!

And well, he still was sometimes. But only with certain people. And thankfully, that wasn't the case with Sai. "They seem to be getting along. I'm relieved."
PostPosted: Thu Apr 30, 2009 9:40 pm

Sa'ida followed suit, thinking she'd be the one dragging Rivener out into the sunlight. She liked how he snuck her away, kept her close. It was like having a big brother, that wasn't a hound dog like We'rika. She listened to the scorpions clarification, a light bulb went on, making everything so clear. "Oh, no-no-no-no-no! I wouldn't tell Natchi about that, Rivener. I promised! Sometimes, I don't follow things well, sorry for the mistake," she nodded, holding a single finger to her lips, this time in acknowledgment of the star speak, which she wouldn't tell Natchi OR Aphismet about. She liked that the other raevan confided within her about his secret powers. He was like a superhero!

"Maybe one day, I'll have a secret that special to share with you. I'll know you'll keep it safe. I trust you," her green eyes gazed up and she wrinkled her nose cutely. Taking a deep whiff of the rose garden, her eyes drifted shut as if the scent alone was enough to intoxicate her. the midday sun was warm overhead, and she simply turned her face away, welcoming the rays of sun. "This is a magical place. Not shiny, but still magical..."

From she remembered Rivener had a 'special connection' with Roux, so hopefully the icy raevan wouldn't see her little girl as competition.

Natsuki strode along with Aphismet, watching the two raevens zip ahead of them. Her heeled shoes clicked lightly on the stone walk way. Both hands held the handle of her purse, and the ruffled undergarments of her skirt peeked out slightly, making her look slightly out of place with the teachers in jeans and polo shirts. Turning to Aphismet, she smiled again, "She's a handful, but she's a good kid. Rivener's grown a bit from when I saw him. I thought he would be... wilder..." like flaming hell on wheels of death' wilder. The Rivener walking side by side wasn't the pretentious little boy she argued with over Roux so many moons ago. It was like he was an entirely different raevan. Maybe the two had an unspoken understanding. What it was totally eluded her. Aphismet's last comment caught her off guard. Stoppig short at a small alcove with a fountain and roses, her eyes remained fixated on the pair of raevans, "I was just thinking the same, exact thing..."

Riv smiled at Sai's agreement that she would keep the star-speak a secret. He chuckled at her declaration of trusting him. "We only just met, Sa'ida. You shouldn't trust people so easily, but I'm glad you do." He smiled, amused. She was so innocent and straight-forward, there was no way someone like her could be sneaky and underhanded. Maybe that's why she didn't think Rivener would be, either. Strange, since Riv thought he looked like someone VERY sneaky and untrustworthy. Not that he minded, since he also looked mysterious and bad-a**.

Clearing his throat, Rivener tried to rid himself of that momentary ego trip, turning his attention outwards again. Sai was just floating there, basking with her face turned towards the sun like one of the many flowers around. Did she actually feed on sunshine, too, Riv wondered? "I don't know if I would call it magical. It's just a garden, isn't it? And there are SOME shiny things, see?" Riv pointed to one of the few large metal-plated globes that decorated the walkway from time to time, the rounded ball on a pedestal meant to be golden-mirror-like, reflecting the flowers all around it and glinting in the sunlight. "There's a BIT of shiny." He grinned, knowing she'd like that.

Aphismet chuckled and lifted his eyebrows at Natsuki's assessment, smirking. "Yeah, well, he has moments when he's still QUITE wild. But in general he HAS grown up. Ever since that one incident, he had... he poisoned Isikoro once, you know? In a fit of jealousy, while I was gone. But he felt so guilty about it he nearly shut us all out of his life for a while. After he got over that (and it took a while), he was much more... controlled. His temper doesn't act up so much anymore and I see him trying to be nicer. Sometimes I forget he's grown, and I still expect him to sting everyone we meet." The chef lifted a shoulder, dismissing his concern. "But he's been real good lately. He's been nice to every Raevan he's met... apart for one. But that was... weird." Aphi furrowed his brow as he recalled Rivener's words about Prajna: "Fun and delicious, like popcorn." The chef still didn't know what the hell that meant.

"A-anyway, the point is that I don't think you have to worry about him being mean to Sai or anything. He seems to have taken quite a shine to her."
PostPosted: Sun May 03, 2009 7:57 am

"Oh I know, but your colors tell me differently. They said you're not a bad guy, you just have that 'bad boy image'. You wouldn't smell like licorice and cinnamon if you were bad. You'd smell like... I dunno..." Sa'ida giggled, taking the Sigel's kind advice, nodding in agreement. Though he was taller than her, she flapped her wings a little, flying a little bit higher. She enjoyed sounding like an adult, but her heart laughed like that of an eternal child. Her arched brows huddled together as she tried to think of things that didn't smell like the boy perfume that Rivener had. "Dirty socks or loading dock dumpsters-- but not the ones at Cafe Jubilee. For some reason, Natsuki's dumpsters smell like freshly laundered linen. I dunno how she does it..."

The sunshine was warm of her skin. Given the choice, she'd bask in the glow of the sun all day, but then she'd get nothing done. "Natchi says that my 'rune' means 'sun'. I'd show it to you, but Natchi says that its really rude and 'ladies don't do that sort of thing'." the young Frei giggled, doing her best impression of her guardian, complete with wagging finger and stormy gray eyes. The chestnut brown curls momentarily took the faintest twinge of red orange, but that could have just been the sunlight.

Her giggles chimed like bells, perfect attune to the word 'shiny'. The metal globes along the path were beautiful, broadcasting how they saw the garden in their own "eyes", each one with different angles and colors. Telling their story very subtly. "It's only just a garden, if you see it that way, but to me. It isn't just that," the young Frei said as if channeling someone else. The voice was melodic and smooth, intentionally and accurately putting emphasis on the situation and not the individual. Letting go of Rivener's arm, she floated over to the golden mirror ball. Her fingers traced the ball with interest, as if she were reading a crystal ball. The reflection of the sun cast a soft glow, making the rainbow girl look like a mystical gypsy. "Yes, yes. It's so shiny it's almost blinding. I love it," Sa'ida mused, as her green eyes swirled into the matching gold.

Aphismet's recounting of the incident with his younger brother, Isikoro rippled a chill down her spine. Her hand leaped up to her chest, covering her heart. She remembered when Kyou was in the hospital and she went there to visit. She barely made it in the door, but fell to pieces regardless. In the wake of Gage's passing, she realized that she had taken many of the people in her life for granted, especially long time individuals who were part of her life. She'd kept people at arm's length for far too long. The redhead resolved to make up for lost time and make things right in her world.

"That's terrible, but I am so relieved that everything worked out. I don't know if Isi remembers me, but if he's up for it, I would like to see him again. I hope that Eiry and Sa'i will hit things off like Rivener and her," Natsuki said, taking out her handkerchief and dabbing her brow lightly. The sunshine was refreshing, but also warmer than she had thought. Why did she leave her parasol home today? Pointing to a wooden gazeebo with roses and other flowers wrapped around it fashionably. "It's reassuring to know that Rivener hasn't gone completely soft. Mind if we sit under there for a while. Unlike "Little Miss Sunshine" over there, I don't fare so well in the sunshine these days. Perhaps, I'm working too hard." Natsuki giggled, giving the chef a kind smile.

Rivener lifted an eyebrow. His colors told her differently? He had a "bad boy image"!? The words out of Sai's mouth made him snicker, it seemed so impossible for her to know what that even meant. The snickering turned to out-right laughing as she mentioned bad people smelled like dirty socks of loading dock dumpsters. That was a nifty skill to have, but she must be getting assaulted by "Scents" wherever she went!

Riv brought a hand up to rub at one of his eyes which was threatening to tear up as Sai then proceeded to imitate Natsuki, nearly making the Scorpion burst a seam laughing. He straightened quickly, grinning still in amusement even as he considered the content; showing off their runes? Hm, Riv had never thought of that but it DID feel like it would be inappropriate for some reason. As though he'd TRULY be getting naked. "Well, as funny as it all is, she might be right. How do you know what your rune means? I never looked into it, I don't know what mine means..." Glancing down, the Scorpion was suddenly very curious. He'd have to research that when he got home.

The genie left Riv's side then to go admire the golden globes, treating them like treasures. The Sigel followed closely enough, crossing his arms comfortably. "I've never been big on gardens. Green things. They're nice and all, but I don't know." He shrugged. Instead of this, Riv much rather preferred the pictures of zen rock gardens and sand gardens; for some reason that was more beautiful to him. Probably had something to do with his Scorpion side.

Aphismet grinned at the thought of Sa'ida meeting Eiry. "They'd probably get along quite well," the chef mentioned as he walked towards the gazebo with Natsuki, eager to get her out of the sun if she wasn't comfortable in it. "She seems the playful type, and Eiry is definitely a ball of playfulness. I bet they'd be friends. And as for Riv going "soft", oh goodness no. Don't let him hear you say that though. Hahah!" The shadowy trellis of the gazebo made for a nice, cool spot that smelled of flowers still. Aphi leaned against one of the pillars, slipping hands into his pockets and keeping an eye on the pair of floating half-bodies not far away.

"I'm not much of an outdoors person either, so this is fine with me,"
Aphi said, motioning to their new haven. "You should come over to our home sometime, then. Or later in the summer when it's nice out, we'll go to you; you owe me cake after all." He grinned. "I'm sure it'll be a well-appreciated vacation, going to the beach on a hot day. I'll bring Eiry and Isi, if that's okay? I'll pay for THEIR cake though."

"Yeah, Natchi's always right. I don't know how she does it!" Sa'ida nodded, trying not to sound frustrated. "Natchi took me to this place with all these books. You can read them there for free!! We found this book full of mysterious symbols and languages. Seriously it was like *this* thick and *this* big," the young frei held her hands about three inches apart. The size was roughly the thickness of a phone book and the size of a extra large pizza box.

Sa'ida's jaw dropped a little bit when her companion mentioned not being 'big on gardens'. "Maybe I'm used to it. Natchi had a gorgeous one on the roof of the cafe! She designed it herself. We're planning one for the house. It's gonna be awesome, but I know what you mean. Sometimes, I dream of sand," Sa'dai replied thoughtfully, looking at her distorted reflection in the golden orb. The young raevan looked at the way her face was skewed as if examining a piece of art and not herself.

Placing both palms flat on the globe, she gaze drifted afar, as if slipping into a reverie. She saw an expanse of desert with a castle floating in the sky. "beautiful powdery sand dunes, but they always lead to this lush, green oasis. I wonder what that means..." she shrugged, pulling away from the globe and rejoining Rivener by his side. A golden gleam lingered in her green eyes. "What kinds of things and places do you enjoy, then? I'm sure you'd like Cafe Jubilee. Natchi bakes the best desserts on the planet!"

"You mentioned martial arts earlier. Which form are you studying? I took some stage fighting classes when I was at Durem University, like fencing and some stunts, but I studied a teeny bit of capoeira. Other than that I mainly studied voice training and dance. I do miss DJ-ing and singing in a band. I used to be wild. When did I get to be so... 'vanilla'," Natsuki said thoughtfully, setting her purse down and stretching her arms above her head, giving a light laugh at the end. It was the truth, after starting her own business, the redhead ended her wild nights of partying until dawn and finishing bar fights. Though it was the first time she'd ever really mentioned her former self. Pulling a hair comb from her hair, red waves cascaded over her shoulder, shimmering in the sunlight.

"I'd love to take Sa'ida to your place. You live near Durem, right? I haven't been there in a while. From Durem is a bit of a long haul, so if you and the gang want a place to stay in Gambino for free, there are plenty of beds at our house," she smiled, making a note to double check planner to see when she'd be free for either outing. "There will be none of this paying for cake nonsense, Aphismet. When you are guests in my home or I am one in yours, its free. You like the smell, taste, and price of free, right?" she laughed, taking a playful matronly tone.

Rivener tilted his head at Sai's mention of the strange, large book. It looked by her gestures to be much more than a simple dictionary. Hm. Ah well, there were all kinds of things in a Library, he figured. Not that he'd ever really been in one. He did all HIS researching online, when he needed it.

The conversation took a much more interesting turn when the colorful Frei began talking of her sand dreams. He smiled. She dreamed of sand, really? Hm. Although her sand dreams were admittedly much grander than Riv's own. He was always content with small areas, calm enclosures. Something as large as a desert, though, was as daunting as it was inviting to the Scorpion's mind. "What kind of things and places I enjoy? Hmmm."

Riv floated along the paths of the flowers languidly as he thought, one hand tucked under and arm and the other hand tapping softly at his lips. "I do like sand gardens. I've never been in one, only seen pictures, but I'd like to see one. With all the lines left in the ground by those rakes around the stones, like ripples that never move." He smiled. "I also like the paint room in my house. It's got windows all around so we can see the whole yard, and the light comes in very clearly. It's also always warm in there because of the glass." He turned red eyes to his friend, smiling. "As for things I like, my favorite things are my computer and the television. I like video games and the internet. OH, and my digital camera! How could I forget. Actually, I wanted to go around and take a picture of every other Raevan sometime, and keep like a book of sorts. Like a family album or something. Would you be okay if I took a picture of you sometime?"

Aphismet raised an eyebrow at everything the red-head was saying. "Hahah, sounds like you really took advantage of your youth! Which is far from over, don't get me wrong! But that's some adventure you're describing. Hah, to think my biggest fun had been going on a ski trip once. I never even went out much, didn't do any studying... Though I'm a bit jealous you went to University." He smirked sheepishly. "As for which style I'm currently studying, it's a mix of judo and jiujutsu. Or so my teacher tells me."

The topic flowed easily to other things then, back again to the visits they were already somewhat planning. Aphismet opened his eyes wide as Natchi offered her home to him and his rag-tag family. "Oh, I couldn't! I would never want to impose, and trust me when I say that Isi's Raevan WOULD be an imposition. He's likely to switch your sugar for your salt, and pop out of walls yelling BOO! and scaring your customers... No, no, it would be best if we stayed in a hotel or something. As generous as your offer is, I'm honestly worried Eiry will ruin your good mood very often." The minty frei could be quite the test.

"I do enjoy free things, of course, I just didn't want to abuse," the chef continued with a small chuckle. "You're very kind. And our home is closer to Durem Caves actually, it's quite far out there in the marshes and there's hardly anyone else for miles... If you do manage to come, you'd find a very nice spot away from the hustle of the city, I guarantee. ...You'd just have to deal with Eiry's shenanigans."

Floating along with and hanging out with Rivener was defintely cool. sa'ida enjoyed the conversation, largely in part, that he was chatting up as much as she was, so she wasn't being one of those chatterbox things. Natchi had always said the name with a very not good look and that matronly shake of her wild hair. "Ooh! The sand garden sounds cool. I like the sand, so luckily, we live near the beach." Sa'ida giggled, bouncing along the stones again. Near by was a fountain, and she loooooooved fountains! The frei didn't think much about leading the sigel to water, but she just wanted to play-- like most kids did! "We have one of those rooms, too! Natchi said it looked like a green house attatched to the rest of the house, but I like hanging out in there."

"Yes, yes, of course you can take my picture, but... only if I can have one with you. Like a trade! Natchi has all these photos of her friends in the living room, so I want to put mine there, too!" Sa'dai replied getting excited thinking about all the cool and nifty photograhs her guardian had. The young raevan knew that Natsuki didn't talk about her family much aside from her cousin, Shuhei. She didn't know why, but she figured it best not to press the issue. "Oh look!! A fountain! More dancing water!!" she cheered, picking up the pace and zipping forward.

Aphismet was right, Natsuki was young, and the cafe manager's youth was far from dwindling. Like most kids, she too, had her wild streak, but sometimes she feels it creeping back up on her. Perhaps, she could do something about it, and find a balance. She listened intently as her friend laundry list the tricks and gags that Eity, the raevan of his younger brother, could do without batting an eyelash. From one chef to another, she appreciated Aphismet's careful assessment of a potentially disastrous situation. One could mess with Natsuki all she wanted, but leave her business out of it!!

"Oh! You live up by DC? I know where that is. There used to be music festivals near in that place... in the parts that weren't marshy. My band played there a couple of times. As for shenanigans, if I can put up with drunken college spring breakers walking into my cafe drunker than skunks and trying to start a bar fight in an overtly girly cafe, I am sure I can avert some danger with Eiry," she winked, putting quite a positive spin on that annoying situation from a few months back.

Rivener's hands had found their way into his jacket pockets and he floated along comfortably at Sai's side, looking rather casual and comfortable. He could listen to the Frei's lilting voice happily, keeping his eyes on the path they were meandering down. "That's good that you have a sun-room like that; I'm sure you enjoy it in there. I like warmth, so a sun-room is a very nice place for me too." One more thing in common. Strange how two such opposites would end up being so similar in some aspects.

Strange also how Sa'ida's condition for letting her picture be taken was the exact same as Xiu's. Riv silently made a note of it, and would see if every OTHER Raevan asked for the same thing. It would be an interesting study on Raevan behavior, or something. They all wanted something to remember the meeting by, it seemed. Not just Rivener was interested in keeping pictures of his kin. "Alright, you've got a deal about the photos. I'll take one of you, and then you can have one of the two of us." Riv nodded with a grin; he LOVED being in pictures, after all.

When Sai zoomed off towards the fountain like a child who spotted her favorite toy, Rivener laughed and floated after, although keeping to his casual pace. He didn't particularly enjoy fountains since they usually misted cold spray on him, but they did look beautiful. Keeping a goodly distance between himself and the cool air around the water-display, Riv just watched the colorful frei play. "It is pretty," he agreed, wondering why Sai had chosen to say "more" dancing water. "Ah, come over here, look!" Riv prompted, finding what he'd been looking for by circling the fountain slowly. At this angle, the spray of water formed a small, pristine rainbow that he wanted to show his younger kin. He pointed to the place, waiting for Sa'ida to join his side so he could place her in the exact spot where she would see it best. "See? Isn't that pretty too?"

Aphismet nodded at Natsuki's words, eyebrows raised. She had a concert with her band? College drunkards in her shop? Jeez. The chef smirked. "Oh, we'll see. Eiry can be a handful if he gets it into his head... But hopefully he'll be behaving nicely." The chef chuckled.

"So why'd you quit that band, then? If you were successful enough to have concerts, you must have been rather popular! Any band I'd know?"
