Fierce trudged along, her haggard bright coat standing out against the dim dismaying background of the swamp, hooves caked in deep mud all the way up to her ankles, splatters of the thick substance running across her underbelly and her tail. Yet she paid it no mind, she was on a mission, a drive that came from deep in her stomach and ran through her whole body. Like a warm deep voice beckoning her onwards.

Ever since her birth she had planned on leaving her home, leaving the safety of the swamp, really it couldn't be called 'true' safety, for the dangers here were many, from the sucking deep bogs to the sharp teethed creatures that chose to prey on their kind, but the dangers were known. Known things could be avoided..Still she had always been restless, always had a need to wander and so she did.

Stopping short in her slow paced stride, bright red eyes scanning the thick mud that ran along near the lake, she let out a small huffing breath as she noted many sets of hoof prints in the mess. "Ahh..now now..travelers" she smirked to herself, deciding to follow the tracks. She had been searching for the edge. The rumors had traveled far, along with the feelings and disturbing dreams, the place she had come from was alive with talk of the border being visible. Where once it was all fog covered and wretched, now there were rumors of things unknown things..a vast view of the wasteland beyond. Well if she could see it for herself then she would.

Dance shook his head. Maybe he should shut up for once. His caution was well founded, though, even if not well appreciated. He followed Dusk with Snake-in-the-Reeds, but more warily. He didn't want to be caught unawares when something happened. He made sure to watch for any possible threat, even if they weren't near the edge yet. It was after only twenty minutes of walking, though, that he peered behind them and saw a bright flash of green.

"There's something following us." he offered, stopping in his tracks and trying to get a better look. "And it's green." he continued. Dance couldn't be sure if it was a Kimeti or not, but the greeness helped. Swamp things were usually green and brown. He wasn't quite sure what he was fearing from the Edge, but the approaching green didn't look incredably threatening. So Dance stood his ground.

"Something following us, you say?" ventured Dusk, who wasn't used to being a leader. She stopped and turned around, wary at the words but not the tone. As she looked, she saw a bright green something emerging from the background.


"I'm going to presume it's a kimeti; it has always seemed to me that we're the only brightness in this swamp, apart from various flowers and the like." We don't even have neat poison to be warning predators from us continued Dusk in her head. She had oft wandered what other's bright patterning meant.


Right now, all they could do is wait. After all, they had all the time in the world.

Good, it was a Kimeti! Dance nodded back to the nervous doe. "Welcome! Rest your worry, we aren't bothered at all!" he smiled with heart.
"I'm not sure if you want to continue following us, though." he ventured, shifting his weigh from foot to foot as he continued, "I'm afraid we're going to the Edge of the swamp." He winced. He could understand how another would search for companions to travel with, but he doubted anyone, much less the green doe, would choose to walk with them in such a frightening direction. He himself still half wished he hadn't agreed to go either.
