[I'm not a bad person...]"Helper?" Chris rubbed the back of his head. "Think of it more like an 'appliance'..." So far, things were going according to plan; his meat was cooking, his spaghetti was in the boiling water, and the garnish was prepared... his appetizer was slowly being churned to perfection. Now it was time to focus on the desserts. He grabbed some of the flour and took out some of his eggs along with a few other personal ingredients. He cracked open the eggs and started mixing them together to form the dough... "Is that cheese I smell over there? Be careful not to burn anything..." [...I just have bad luck.]

Tenkou mitsuru tokoro ni ware wa ari, yomi no mon hiraku tokoro ni nanji ari! "I'm always careful," Ally said with a laugh. Sure, she was careful...but she was also bestowed the curse of clumsiness. Lucky for her, she never had a mishap in the kitchen. That would be disastrous...not to mention repairs would be quite costly...
She plated the now cooked saganaki with some pita bread--the best combo in the entire world, she thought with a smile. That did it for her appetizer. Her entree still needed some work; she added some rice to the browning orzo, placing a lid atop the pot to let the mixture steam. From there, she stirred the egg and brown sugar concoction into the milk and rice cooking in the other pot. She hummed a soft tune as she stirred the dessert with a wooden spoon. Ideyo, kami no ikazuchi! Kore de owari desu! INDIGNATION!

[I'm not a bad person...]"Pita bread?" Chris noticed her selection for grains as he went to put his dough in the oven. "Nice choice..." There was no time for him to spy, though; he had other things to work on. He had drinks that would be accompanying the entree and the dessert courses, and those needed to be taken care of. The entree should be fine - he was pairing that with a pre-made drink - but the dessert drink was a special milkshake, and he needed to have that taken care of. Going back to the freezer, he took out some iced cream. As he headed to his station, he stopped by the fridge and got out milk, cream, and other such things... and then, at the pantry, he picked up the last ingredients he needed. Tentatively, Chris started measuring out the ingredients and mixing them together. This is where he did best, for Chris's expertise lay in molecular gastronomy, the mixing of the agents... he got a lot of his culinary influence from G-Corp's cooking facilities. 'Baking a Difference...' [...I just have bad luck.]

Tenkou mitsuru tokoro ni ware wa ari, yomi no mon hiraku tokoro ni nanji ari! Ally smiled, though she did not respond as she continued to work. Her dessert was almost finished; she just needed to add some vanilla, then let it sit. Later on, she'd add some cinnamon...but only after her masterpiece cooled a bit.
Appetizer? Check. Dessert? Check.
She giggled at the irony that her entree was possibly the simplest dish of her three-course meal. Her rice and orzo had finished, and were just sitting in the pot to stay warm. All that remained of her cooking endeavour was a salad, but not just any salad. It was her grandfather's special recipe that she favoured above most others.
Her wonderful kitchen had a keeping area devoted to fresh vegetables, some even planted in pots and growing indoors. Large bowl in hand, she peeled some leaves of lettuce and cabbage off their respective heads, then added some fresh roma tomatoes and a cucumber that had yet to be sliced.
Time to wash the produce! Ideyo, kami no ikazuchi! Kore de owari desu! INDIGNATION!

[I'm not a bad person...]Chris had finished up mixing his dessert beverage, and he took the dough out of the oven. The cookies had sat in a little too long, but they should still be fine. He'd put in one of his special gastronomic ingredients in them for a bit of flare, so that should more than make up for their slight overdone edges... with that said, dessert was pretty much entirely accounted for. Having taken care of his grand finale, Chris made his way over to finish cooking the meat. As he went over, though, he was interrupted by his bunny companion; the appetizers were done, and ready for inspection. Chris knelt down and examined the mochi, then gave an approving nod. "Good," he said. "Start plating it up." He then turned back to his meat and poured some of his prime rum on it; it would give it a nice extra layer of flavor after simmering a little. While that finished up cooking, he started to mix the spaghetti and the various garnishes together. It looks like he and Ally were both nearly done... [...I just have bad luck.]

Tenkou mitsuru tokoro ni ware wa ari, yomi no mon hiraku tokoro ni nanji ari! Time was ticking away much quicker in the last stretch of this epic showdown. This challenge was nearly over, and from the looks of it, Chris' dishes would probably be nothing less than spectacular. Ally hoped the same would hold true for her own creations...
Lettuce and cabbage ripped, tomatoes diced, cucumber sliced...the only things missing from her specialty salad were the dressing and a few last-minute sprinkles of feta cheese, for flavour. Plating the salad in conjuction with her rice pilaf, she drizzled the dish with her homemade dressing. Now her entree was completey finished.
The only thing left was to add the finishing touches to her rice pudding. A dash of cinnamon did the trick. She contemplated for about two seconds whether or not she should add raisins, but decided against it. Raisins were icky, anyway.
Glancing at the three dishes in front of her, she pushed her spectacles up the bridge of her nose. Mission accomplished. "You just about finished, Chris?" she called over her shoulder. Ideyo, kami no ikazuchi! Kore de owari desu! INDIGNATION!

[I'm not a bad person...]"Yeah, nearly done." Chris took the meat, now fully cooked, and poured it into the bowl with the spaghetti and garnishes. He let the juices run in as well; they would enhance the flavoring of the dish. With that, he gave the noodle dish a little bit of mixing and it was done, ready to serve. He set it over with the bottle he'd decided to pair the dish with. Letting out a sigh, he looked around. The mochi were all stacked and ready to go; his entree had just been completed; his cookies and vanilla milkshake were done and prepared. Looks like he'd made it in time. "Alright, I think I'm good." Chris nodded and looked over at what Ally made. She'd done a salad, huh? Interesting... the two of them had very different cooking styles, that was for sure. Chris actually used to work at a small restaurant in the commerce section of Gaia, back in the day, and he dabbled a bit in eccentric, molecular-gastronomic styles of cooking. Ally's style was different... simpler, with a lot of warmth and charm. It would be an interesting face-off. [...I just have bad luck.]

The smells coming from the Cafeteria seeped into her nose and tickled her stomach and it purred in reply. She was starving, having not eaten anything but a package of skittles. She had a chest full of them. They were her weakness. Now as she moved toward the kitchen with careful ease, she was dying to tear into something...anything but whoever was cooking, and whatever it was, it would not be for her. She would have to whip up something of her own.
Finally, she stepped into the kitchen slowly and somewhat shyly. She spotted Chris right away, glad to see a familiar face. The other person she had not seen before.
"Hello?" she said gingerly

John had a very focused look on his face as he watched the two combat one another, chef style. The contest had a very similar feel to spars between Chris and John; they enjoyed the contest simply for the sake of doing it, but neither wanted to be defeated by the other.
"Oh, hey Akari." he said off-handedly, his eyes not leaving the two. "You're just in time to check out this cooking contest."

Tenkou mitsuru tokoro ni ware wa ari, yomi no mon hiraku tokoro ni nanji ari! Ally nearly toppled all her plates over in surprise. Instead, she merely banged her arm into the countertop. The arrival of Akari caught her off guard, to say the very least.
She'd heard a bit about Akari from John and Chris, but this was the first time she'd actually seen her. Regaining her composure--and fixing her hat after it fell before her eyes once again--she turned to John. "I-is she a g-guest judge?" she squeaked. Ideyo, kami no ikazuchi! Kore de owari desu! Akari was not sure of what to say. When she almost dropped her plates, she pitched forward as if making to catch them but Alexandra seemed to have a handle on it. She cringed when she banged her elbow, her eyes filling with concern. "Are you all right?" she said.
"No...I didn't know about...this. I just got here." she said with a meek smile. Despite what she had heard, she was still unsure if she was a nice person. She still had to get to know her. "The smells...it was wonderful. I just could not resist. But I can just sit and watch. If you don't mind of course."

[I'm not a bad person...]"Are we ready to serve?" Chris leaned forward on the counter. "My food's plated up, and I don't want it to go cold..." He blinked for a moment, and then looked over at Akari. "Well," he said, "I made portions for one person... but since Ally did the same thing, we should have enough for at least two people between the two of us. I think you should be able to get a taste without a problem." Chris nodded and pushed up his glasses. [...I just have bad luck.]

Akari nodded. "If it is all right with everyone. I wont say now. I have been living on sugar covered sugar all morning." she chuckled to herself at her small joke before taking a seat across from John.
"So what is on the menu?" she said, her eyes eying the plate. Both meals looked very different. Chris's meal looked striking and as though the flavors would hit your taste buds in an instant. On the other hand, Alexandra's meal looked like something she could sink into that would warm her from the inside out. She could not wait to try them both.

[I'm not a bad person...]"My menu for you tonight is going to be a mixture of western flavors with an eastern twist," Chris announced as he brought over his appetizers. "I will start you off with my specialty moon mochi rice cakes. These were churned using the old-fashion method, so I guarantee that they will be exceptionally fresh." He set down a small plate of the rice cakes in front of both John and Akari. "They are bite-sized for your convenience." He took a few steps back for a moment, but then returned with a few glasses. "I've also paired it with one of the better wines from the picolotrosso cellar - a 2003 grape-based Silver Oak should go nicely with this course. Don't overindulge, though... we have more food coming, after all." He smiled and took a small bow. "Please, enjoy." [...I just have bad luck.]

"Hmmm..."
To be honest, John was a little skeptical of Chris's cooking. Really, this was the guy who got his fill off of other people's hemoglobin. Staring at one of the rice balls, he poked it once. Nope, no explosion. Taking one in his hand, he sniffed the piece of food before taking a bite.
It was good. Really good.
He smiled happy and reached for his glass of wine. Taking a sip, he was pleased to find that the rice ball's flavor meshed exceptionally well with the sweetness of the wine.
"Nicely done, Chris. This is delicious!"
