Sa'ida giggled innocently seeing Varun deal with the problem she hadn't thought about-- her lack of lower half necessary to dance. Whe he flushed red, she certainly blushed redder. She didn't mind though, the color bought out the sea green eyes which looked endless, fading out into the horizon. When he put his hand at the base of her wings, goosebumps rippled and rose in her skin. "That tickles! B-b-but I don't mind," she quickly added, so as not to add insult to injury because Varun was dancing with her.

Natchi told her that a good dance partner was one who could follow the lead without leading, but being able to know what the lead was trying to do. She never knew that dancing involved mind reading, and the rainbow child was certain neither she nor her guardian, despite all her wit and widsom, were those. The water splashed and sprayed, but she didn't care. Sa'ida was merely having way too much fun gliding to and fro in the arms. Her shy smile widened like the rising sun as they picked up momentum. Having danced with Natchi, she helped to make the process smooth and more fun.

"It's perfect like you, Varun. I like autumn in spring!" the genie beamed to her partner. She was having the time of her life! Dancing on water with a handsome stranger. It was like all the movies she'd ever watched but much better. All those girls in their big poofy dresses never told the princes their names. Unlike them, she had told the prince right off the bat who she was, so he'd never forget her. "Relax and have fun! Dancing is fun," she whispered, not wishing to break the mood. The water doused and splashed against her warm skin, but she welcomed it.

"...perfect?" It meant much more, coming from someone else. The leviathan inhaled deeply and closed his eyes for a moment, trying to follow his partner's instructions. It was hard to relax when you were trying to do everything right, trying to impress a princess of the highest caliber, but...since she asked. Exhaling, sea green eyes flashed open and his seriousness melted away like ice in the sun, the small smile a permanent fixture against his lips.

And just like that, everything became so much easier. Dodging the water wasn't too important, as long as Sa'ida didn't get soaked. She was having fun, so he must be doing something well, right? Right?

Much more subtle than his mood change was the slight change of coloration of his scales. Normally bright orange and yellow, they had shifted to a light green. Kinsey noticed, her breath catching. The last time the scales had altered was during Varun's fight with Prajna. Not willing to see her charge get out of hand again, the cop-in-training stepped forward and cleared her throat. "Varun! It's time to get going. You've been out here forever."

Startled from his dancing, the seasonal Frei halted and peered over at his guardian, his look absolutely mournful. "....now?"

Her heart skipped beats when Varun looked at her with those serious, focused eyes, but when he smiled, as slight as it may be, her heart soared! She loved it when people smiled, and the genie tried memorizing it the best she could! "Yes, it's just like a story book! I'm happy we met, Varun!" Sa'ida replied, trying to keep her exuberance in check and not tackle the other into the water with a big hug. When his scales started to change in color, her eyes widened. Varun could change colors, too!! This made her happy to no end, she took her free hand from his shoulder, wanting to touch the scales gently when they were interrupted.

Overbearing.
Bossy.
Always knows everything and what "is best."
That adult voice.
She knew it all too well.

Natsuki got the same way at times, telling her what to do and where to go. Varun's guardian, perhaps. Like a balloon undone, her excitement deflated. The advancing woman killed the mood. "I-- I wasn't hurting him... We were just dancing... I promise." Sa'ida explained to the unknown woman commanding her partner away. Natchi would have a fit if word got back that Sa'i backtalked to an adult, let alone another guardian.

The rainbow frei's hands dropped down to her side. Just when things were getting fun, Varun would most likely need to go home.

Kinsey blinked, mildly surprised when the female began to explain herself. Varun too, was bewildered, gaze shifting between his woman and his new friend as he tried to figure out what was going on. As far as he was concerned, they had been doing nothing wrong and Sa'ida had no reason to stand up for him like that. All the same, it produced a strange feeling in his chest. His heart fluttered and his breath caught, and for the briefest of moments, he experienced a strange falling sensation.

"It's okay. Sa'ida is good. Varun was good. It's okay," he explained, his green eyes finally settling on his guardian.

Kinsey tipped her head at the pair, smiling a little as she nodded. Varun seemed anything but upset, perhaps even calmer than usual, but she didn't want to take her chances as far as those colorful scales went. "Alright. No one's in trouble here," she said, feeling the need to explain herself. "We just have to get going. I need to go into the station later."

Varun sighed softly. Another afternoon home alone. Excellent.

Kinsey watched the redhead deflate and her smile fell. It was odd to see him enthusiastic about anything, denying him of that made her feel rather cruel. She really did have to go and she really didn't want him stirring any drama, but perhaps she could ease this apparently pain, a little. Beckoning her charge closer, she leaned up to whisper something in his ear before giving him a pat on the shoulder and a nod.

The Raevan straightened, features set back in his normal cool, collected look, and he floated back over to Sa'ida, offering her a hand to help her out of the fountain. "Again, sometime. Kinsey says again, yes. Off a day, so I can stay. And dance again. With you?"

And there it was again! Kinsey inhaled and held her breath hoping, for Varun's sake, that the charming rainbow Frei would find this compromise agreeable.

Sa'ida stifled a defeated sigh as Varun's keeper joined them. It had been a wonderfully fantastic afternoon together, but she didn't want to see it end. Somewhere in the back of her mind, the raevan could her Natsuki lecturing her on being selfish and the need to considerate of others. "I would like that very much, Varun! Next time you can come to our garden. It's very pretty!" Sa'ida whispered softly, taking the leviathan's hand in her own. Sun kissed fingers wrapped themselves gently around his own.

"My name is Sa'ida. Thank you for letting Varun and I play today," she replied politely allowing her friend to assist her from the watery dance floor. Letting go of his hand, she quickly drifted over to a flower patch, looked both ways quickly, and plucked a single white rose. Concentrating hard, ripples of rainbow dusted the edges of the petals. Returning to him, she took a deep breath of its fragrance, touched a kiss to it, and held it out to him with a warm smile.

"Please accept this, Varun. Until we can meet again." Sa'ida said gently, shyness laced into her voice. Normally, she'd throw her arms around someone and snuggle until she was pried off them, but remembering Varun's recount with Pranja, she didn't want to ruin her perfectly perfect day in the park.
