Aaah, finally. Gathering up the parchment and lidding it securely, Banning listened to Faolan intently. As he tucked it away in his office bag, he formulated his answer.
"We create the Sparks following the original procedure, with little to no control over which group the resulting Sparks will belong to. Back in the day, the half randomised results filled in the needs plenty, it never was an issue. We do not help or guide in the Purpose-giving, and asigning a uty to Essentics like you did wasn't done when they were first created, you see." he kept his hawky gaze on the youth to see if that made any sense to him.
"Life Essentials allows people to fully unlock the Essentic potential, to use it in so far unexplored terrains, push their limits. Not much was known about them before the Hunt, contrary to popular belief that we had them all figured out." he explained. "My staff and I, as well as my head researcher, are very well informed about the basic knowledge surrounding them, but we do not claim to be able to predict them fully. Your Proto.. Ziazan, if a rmarkable example of the strange ways that their Essence takes when faced with illogical or irrational demands, such as being asked to see into the future. From Misha I gathered its basic area of expertise, he called it Clairvoyance, probably aided in its... 'decision', if you can call that process 'choosing'. They are tools that can never break away from their Owner, and cannot go against their Purpose."

Faolan looked back at Zia, watching it play with the tarot cards now that it had gone back to the bed. "I guess that makes sense. He looked up at Banning. "Guess it was a good thing Zia turned out a little different then. For your research, I mean. Although, I don't think my request to it was so irrational. I do this . . .fortune telling as a living, but it's a con. I wanted to be able to really help people more, those that needed the help, anyway. Plus, Zia really seems to like finding out all about people from their stuff. No worries, I don't let anyone see it. I always take the objects in the other room to 'consult the spirits' or whatever lie I tell people so Zia can do its thing in private."

"Dangerously cunning... you seem to be quite a master of your art even without the Proto. You do realise it won't remain that small forever I hope?" Bane raised an eyebrow.
"Given the speed at which they take on Influences and their inate desire to grow and become more human-like, it won't take very long for it to shift into Alter stage.. which will be much harder for you to nurture properly."

Faolan hadn't thought of that. His knowledge of Essentics was limited, he'd admit that, so he didn't know that they grew. "I can come to your shop and ask you or your staff about things, right? I don't want Zia to get hurt . . . and I'm not sure trying to pass it off as a spirit conjured up in a seance would work for long."

"The Contract states that yes, we will always be there for Owners and Essentics in need. Be it medical, spiritual or practical, we're there to help. While we can't fix every single issue, there isn't much we cannot do." Baning smirked pleasedly. He worked hard and long to keep it that way, both in terms of money and connections.
"And trying to pass it off as a spirit would become troublesome by the time it grows to your size." How twee that would be.
"Incase you need to get in touch, you know where to be. It may also be advisable to share your troubles and discoveries with other Owners, should you desire so. Feel free to come and ask, it is proven that Essentics may benefit from interacting with their own kind to swap experiences and find their identity."

"Alright. I'll come to the shop if I need help with Zia. I'd like to talk with other owners, too, but . . . how do I find them?" Faolan asked. He had a feeling there wasn't a public directory, but the shop likely kept good records if the old man was any sign of it.
Ziazan waddled about on the bed, having memorized everything it could about the cards and plopped down into a small pile of colorful scarves Fao used in his fortune telling costumes. "Pretty!"

"Either you come contact us in person about this information, or you send us a mail, text, anything through the contact details we provided. We will see to it the information gets to you safely." Banning xplained, referring to Misha's excellent services. He didn't expect him to already know no less than two other Owners already, of course.
He glanced around at Zia's exclamation and raised an eyebrow. "... like a toddler in a playground."

"You can't provide me with some information now? Perhaps another owner so I can share information with them?" The man was being vague on purpose, but he probably felt protective.
He looked at Ziazan wrapped up in the scarves like a mummy and sighed, getting up to untangle the creature, ignoring the squeaks of happiness and its excited flailing. "Maybe it's just picking up on the atmosphere here. We're a rather happy lot."

"It's.... cute."
Wham, perfect deadpan delivery, strrrrrike! Another full score for Bannning, lads 'n lasses.
Okay, enough of that. Essentics weren't 'cute' ever. Woodchippers are just as useful and not cute one bit.
"We currently have four other owners... To remain vague, their names are Trystan, Elst, Lee and Willis. I suggest you stay away from Trystan, the others may want to share their experiences with you."
Why yes, more deadpan.

"Willis and Elst? Really? Small world," Fao commented, finally getting Zia free of the scarves. "Perhaps I'll pay them a visit. For now, though, I have to get ready for the evening. If you'll excuse me."

Talk about serendipity... Banning hadn't been able to link the three of them to each other at all, and he quirked up an eyebrow at the revelation. Of course, he couldn't know they'd met right after Elst's contracting procedure and right before Willis' visit, and Aria's emergence.
"So you know them... Very nice. Incase you hadn't heard of Aria yet, you may want to pay the Damonts a visit with Ziazan, I'm sure it'll be a priceless experience for both of them." At least he wouldn't have to waste time getting them in touch then.
"It shouldn't be too hard for you to travel with it, for now." Stick it in a bag or something, they're sturdy enough. "But I shall leave you to your business now. I have done what I came for."
With a reserved bow, he greeted the young con-man and his Essentic, and without further ado, left the tent to head back to his Office. A productive day this had been.
