Toshiro didn't reply, but gave his mate a small smile as he finished snuggling their two children into the grasses and leaves just right. Once satisfied, the stallion laid back down next to his mate, giving her a body to lean against should she wish to. "You did wonderful, Kindle. I know our children will adore you." He licked her cheek lightly. "Get some rest, alright? You've worked hard."

"Hmmm," she uttered softly, her eyes already closing. She moved closer to him almost by habit, loosing a relieved sigh. Sore. Still so terribly sore, but she could lay down again. Laying her head across his back, she drifted tiredly. They were parents. It struck her as odd, the sensation. She didn't feel any differently, yet she had the distinct sensation that everything had changed. "Toshi..." Mumbling softly, she drifted off.

~time passes~
Ever since the eggs had been laid, Toshiro continued to do his best to support both Kindle and their upcoming children. It was odd to think about the fact that they were parents now, but at the same time it was also kind of right. He never could have imagined so much joy being brought about by parenthood. "Good morning, lovely," he whispered lovingly into Kindle's ear, a soft smile on his face. The sun had risen quite a while ago, but he hadn't woken her then as he felt she had been well deserving of getting some extra sleep. Especially since they had no idea how much longer it would be before the eggs hatched. He remembered some foals being quite energetic. "Would you like me to get you some breakfast?"

Kindle's ear flicked gently at the soft intrusion. A slow smile spread across her lips. That voice. She snuggled closer to it in her half-sleep, sighing her contentment. Her eye cracked slowly, a yawn escaping. "Toshi?" She lifted her head, attempting to stifle the urge to stretch. Her gaze flicked briefly to the eggs, just a few inches from the pair of them. Legs tucked against her body, she nodded briefly. "Anything." Ducking her head, she seemed all too willing and far too ready to settle back into dreams.

Toshiro chuckled lightly at his mate's unwillingness to wake up. "Alright then, I'll be back," he said, giving her cheek a soft nuzzle before slowly rising to his feet. He stepped carefully out of their little shelter before padding off to see if he could find any flowers or fruit that Kindle might enjoy.

Kindle grumbled softly as he left. A prickling sound invaded her dreams. A cracking she couldn't quite define. She opened one eye and found the little shelter deserted. The eggs lay still. It earned them a suspicious glance. "Both of you..." She frowned at the pair. Quiet. But it couldn't have been them. She turned her head, ready to sleep again, when that sound again pervaded that warm shroud of unconsciousness. Lifting her head, she eyed the two, perplexed. Laying her head down once more, her nose inches from the pair, she stared at them, waiting.

It didn't take very long for Toshiro to return to their shelter, a coconut in tow. Sure, these things were a pain in the butt to open, but perhaps the sweet juice inside would help to wake his mate up. "I brought food we could play with," the stallion said jokingly, kicking around the giant seed with his front hooves. "Shall I get cracking or would you prefer something a bit softer?" He cocked his head slightly as he finally noticed how Kindle was staring at the eggs, nose only inches away from them. "Is something the matter?"

"They're talking." She spoke plainly, absently as though she only barely registered the question. An ear twitched irritably as she watched them intently. Talking.... or something. Rolling to her tummy, she crept forward, closing the distance. She couldn't quite understand what they were saying, but every time she closed her eyes....

"Talking?" Toshiro replied, clearly puzzled. Abandoning the coconut where it lay, he slowly stepped forward and lowered his head down to where the two little eggs lay. "Hey, are you two messing with your mother?" the stallion asked, mildly amused. He gave the two eggs a soft nudge with the end of his nose, smiling a bit. "Do you plan on keeping your conversation to yourselves, or will you share it with us?"

Kindle glanced up to him in relative confusion, then barked in surprise. As the little orange egg was nudged, it nudged back, came forward, then back again hard, thwapping its father firmly on the nose. "See?!" She rose up to her feet, eyeing the egg.

Toshiro was initially surprised to see the egg moving, but only smiled wider after it had thumped him on the nose. "It looks like someone's getting tired of being stuck in a shell," he said with a small chuckle, looking up at his mate. A thoughtful look came over his face for a moment. "Hmm, I suppose we should start thinking up names, shouldn't we. What do you think, darling?"

Kindle seemed to settle somewhat, though she still shifted on her hooves uncertainly. "Do you think it's a girl...?" Either of them. She still didn't seem entirely convinced a little foal was going to come out of there. It sounded more like the tiny birds that sometimes roosted and poked around on the overhanging branches of their shelter.
The egg wobbled gently at the sound of their voices, a light clicking noise coming from within that once more drew the mare's attention.

Toshiro gave the wobbling egg a small sniff before nudging it encouragingly. "I think so," he replied slowly, pulling his head back a little to give the egg more room. "It's hard to be sure until they hatch though. We could think up names for each gender though. Do you have any that you would like if it's a girl?"

Kindle considered thoughtfully, frowning. "I'm not certain. It looks a little... fiery." And it did. Perhaps it was all the orange. Or maybe it was that the egg was once more attempting to bop Toshiro on the nose, the small noises inside growing more persistent.

Toshiro was contemplative for a moment as he watched the small foal trying to break free of the egg. "Hmm... How about... Chione?" he asked. He had no idea where he had pulled the name from, but somehow it seemed almost fitting.
