Seiphyr's heart swelled as she pressed up against him, needy, like a puppy. She'd always been this way. He licked her face, nuzzling her lovingly, understandingly. "I know I do. I know, Lith... I just...can't leave her. Not yet." And then another idea struck him, one that made his tail give one solid beat. He leapt to his feet to face her. "You could come with me?!"

Lithium's heart tightened painfully. She looked down at her paws. Leave home? She looked around. Agua Azul was home... Mama and Daddy were home. LSD and Phren were home. And Seiphyr... He wasn't... But it was so hard! LSD needed her, especially now. "My brother...he had an accident. He got caught in a bear trap. He's mopey and I just can't leave him alone. It's my job to keep him happy," she explained sadly, shaking her head. "Seiphyr... I can't go with you... I'm sorry. Please understand..."

His mood was dampened. She had to stay and take care of her brother. He nodded quickly, knowing he'd do the same if Kisa was injured and depressed. "I know. I'm sorry too," he murmured. He looked up at the sky, which threatened to let rain loose upon them. "I guess neither of us can leave our families yet. Maybe...soon? When LSD is better? And Tauro doesn't need me so much?" His eyes sparkled but he refused to let the tears come. He refused to let it rain. He wanted this so badly and it just wasn't going to happen.

She had never felt so down. Is this what LSD felt like? This crushing sadness while she danced around, trying to encourage him? She gave a soft whimper, looking away from Seiphyr as he spoke. It hurt... It physically hurt.
But what did this mean? Why did it hurt? She frowned.
Soon? When they were both grown? "You...aren't gonna visit again?" Her voice was strung high, with fear, with worry. "Surely you can steal time away... What if I met you half way? You can't just leave me!" Tears sprang to her eyes and she swallowed hard.

"I...You'd want me to visit again?" he asked, cocking his head to one side curiously. She didn't hate him... Instead, she was worried about being abandoned. Again. He smiled softly, nuzzling her cheek. "I'll come back. I'll come here, don't worry about meeting me. I don't want you to get lost... Just...wait for me on the edge of Agua Azul. I'll always come back, Lithium. I..."
Did he? Did he love her?
If he didn't, he was feeling these strong emotions for no reason.
She stared at him, her gaze doting, and he took a deep breath. "I think I love you."

Lithium's heart about stopped as he told her. Love? Love was something between brother and sister... Mother and father... Could she have what Bipolar had? Could she look into Seiphyr's eyes the way Mama looked into Dad's? Her heart swelled and she rushed forwards, butting her forehead against his.
"I'll always wait for you," she promised, straining the words.

He smiled, rubbing against her, then standing. It was getting dark. The trip was a lengthy one... And Tauro would probably worry...
"Then I will always return for you," he said, as close to a promise as he could give. He licked her muzzle once, licking her tears away, then murmured a goodbye and padded off into the forest. He was sad that she couldn't come with him, but his heart would remain with her. At least for now...
