Rico opened the back door of the car for Lunaria & Ziggy to hop in, and climbed into the driver's seat, "Seat belts please!"

As Dimitri saw Lunaria running for the car, he began to hum a funeral dirge, but Rico gave him a stern look and he promptly stopped. Ziggy opened waited outside the door for Lunaria, "Chica's first." He smiled and waited for her to jump in before following her and shutting the door.

"Now was the point... of no return! dun Dun DUN!"

"Alright, who said that?" Rico looked over at Dimitri, and then back at Lunaria, "Wave goodbye hon! I hope you have a lot of energy you'll need it."

Rico waved before pulling out and then the drive began. It was only half an hour to the beach, but it began to pull about 15 minutes in. Rico called back and asked, "Are you guys hungry? You could pull out a snack or something from the cooler?"

Lunaria was surprised to see her father be so polite and say his version of "Ladies first"....she really hadn't been sure of what to expect. Hopping in she belted in settling between Dimitri and Ziggy, carefully setting her book between Dimitri and herself, finding herself smiling.

She smiled more at hearing what Dimitri said " Phantom of the Opera! Thats a great movie! Emmy watched it with us, I LOVE the music!"

She turned to lean around Ziggy to wave a paw to Emmy, who really didn't look to be taking the separation well, so she flashed her best smile, full of all the joy and eagerness she was starting to feel.

She was surprised when Rico mentioned food, she hadn't even stopped to think about eating, or even the time passing. She was happily watching the scenery fly by, and trying to look over Dimtiri's shoulder as discreetly as she could, trying to figure out what he was doing. Happilly Dimitri seemed occupied, Ziggy was humming, and Rico was driving, so she was able to adjust to being in new company without feeling pressured. She was continually being surprised at how fun this was, and it occured to her that perhaps she should be worried being away from Em for the first time, but she was developing a sense of trust with Ziggy and she couldn't explain.

Dimitri looked over at his sister this time, really looking at her instead of a passing glance. "I saw the movie recently too. I rather liked it. Just so you know, dad there, fell asleep 20 minutes in. Hehehe," He went back to his papers, and started counting in his head. Without looking up he said, "I really want to see it live, but it's hard getting anything done with these two." He pointed with the pencil in his paw.

Rico smiled while looking at her through the rear view mirror. Ziggy had already gone back to the ice chest and pulled out the baggy of crackers. He opened it up and tossed one in the air, catching it in his mouth with ease. He smiled his crooked smile and offered the baggie to Lunaria. "Don't worry little wahini, Rico says no fish were actually used! But they're so yummy!"

"Only 10 more minutes and you two will be having a blast. The weather looks fantastic today! You know the weather man said it was going to be around high 80s and low 90s and sunny today?" Rico sounded excited herself.

"I'd love to get to go see it preformed! I'll have to talk to Emmy, maybe when Rico and Illeyana have their day to bake brownies she can set it up at a time when Phantom is being preformed and you could come with us to see it! I'd be glad of the company, Illeyana certainly couldn't sit still an entire musical if her life depended on it!"

Smiling she turned to watch her father get the crackers and eat them with such a boyish gesture, then laughed at her fathers attempt at a joke. " I didn't think fish were made of cheese, so I kinda figured there was no cheese there Dad". She took a few crackers out of politness, and then took the bag and offered it to Dimitri without a thought. Looking in the mirrow at Rico she smiled. "I'm glad it will be warm out....but the ocean is sooo big, how does it ever get warm enough to swim in!?!"

Dimitri just shook his head, "That wasn't an attempt at humor. He meant what he said."

Rico laughed half heartedly, and said, "He's kidding.....
kind of.." She pointed at Ziggy, "That's a question for this guy over here."

Ziggy cleared his throat, nearly choked on a cracker and then cleared it again, "Well...Oceans and atmosphere are closely coupled as they respond to the constant influx of solar energy. Together they control the daily drama of Earth’s weather systems, as well as the longer-term changes in planetary climate."

"Winds drive the currents that redistribute heat from the equator to the poles, just as they are engaged themselves in the atmospheric heat engine. Without such perpetual motion, the blistering heat delivered daily to the tropics would render them uninhabitable, while the rapid spread of ice caps and frozen lands from North and South would bring a harsher, crueller reality to the polar regions. A very different type of life would exist on planet Earth, most of it squeezed into a narrow band between these climatic extremes."

"So basically, ocean water absorbs the majority of the heat at the equator and redistributes it through currents, and where we are on the ocean line, and at this temperature, it's a equation of ultimate funtime." Ziggy quoted this information proudly from a scientific journal he had read about the ocean when doing research and youtube searches for how tide pools work.

Dimitri looked over at her and said, "And the genius has moment of lucidity." He then looked over at Lunaria and said, "Oh thank god there is some culture in this family! You may be my favorite member yet!" He smiled the same smile his dad had, but in a more severe face. It almost made him look sarcastic.

Lunaria was stunned between being told that someone in the family might actually like her,and her father's apparent brilliance when it came to the ocean. "Wow! I knew that all beings were 75% water but I didn't realize that the bodies of water on earth played such a vital role!"

Thinking about what Dimitri said she looked down, suddenly feeling sad and quietly asked " Have you met Soya since she came out her lamp?"

Ziggy nodded, proud of himself, "For some reason I remember almost everything I read."

Dimitri looked up thinking, "I think... is she the brown girl that was playing tag that one day? The really loud one? I met her, but haven't had much of a chance to talk to her."

Rico sighed, "And yet can't volunteer the information unless directly asked about it." She shook her head. The car turned off to a parking lot, and Rico parked in a spot closest to the sand. The parking lot was on a little rise, and overlooked the open and vast beach.

Rico opened her door and pulled open the trunk to get everything out. Ziggy opened the door and jumped out, and went back to help Rico with the stuff, calling back, "Come on out Luna and take a look. But like, stay close, okay?"

Still looking down at the floor Lunaria gathered her book and said quietly to Dimitiri " Yeah, thats her,the gorgeous one with the dark blue markings, and once you've had a chance to talk to her I'm sure you'll be just as smitten with her as everyone else and forget all about me" Turning quickly she hops out of the car, staying close to Ziggy as asked.

She can't even seem to muster the desire to look up from the parking lot, her excitement of earlier having completely faded thinking of Soya. Walking around back, she waited while Rico unloaded the car, offering to help carry whatever she can, but no longer the smiling bouncing kit that hopped into the car.

Dimitri had to stifle a laugh, he hopped out of the car and tapped Lunaria on her shoulder, "Look, she may be outgoing and playful, but truth be told, she was too loud for me to be around. When she was around Dad, I had to go sit by Mom. As soon as Rico sets you up, we'll be heading out, but don't forget about the show. I'd love to go with you some time. Where else am I going to get culture?" Dimitri smiled, knowing exactly how Lunaria felt. "You know, you are beautiful too, maybe even more so." He called back before jumping into the car and settling down to work on his papers again.

Rico smiled, she had never seen Dimitri so kind to anyone. She handed the Lunaria the small cloth bag she had grabbed and put the four stones inside, She put the boom box & cd case and the first aid kit in the basket and handed that to Ziggy, and grabbed the umbrella, ice chest and foam board.

Rico lead them both out down the stairs and onto the sandy beach, a fresh salty breeze swept past them, and the roar of the waves became much louder, she walked over to a long piece of driftwood, a log really, and set both the boogie board and opened up the Umbrella and pinned it between the base and branch of the long so it stood up, casting a huge shadow.

She then pulled out the blanket and spread it wide on the beach in the shadow cast by the umbrella, "Hey Lunaria will you please put the stones your carrying in the four corners to hold the blanket down from the wind? I don't know how you did that, but Dimitri's not that nice to almost anyone. You should feel special." She nodded, as she pulled out the folded towels and set them up at the top of the blanket.

Unable to help it Lunaria's jaw dropped at Dimitir's words, and she just stared blankly at him as he hopped into the car, her mouth still gaping open like a goldfish before Rico dangling the bag in front of her face snapped her out of it. In a daze she followed Rico and Ziggy to the beach, replaying Dimitri's words over in her head, searching for any trace of sarcasm or a few "nots" that she might have overlooked. But try as hard as she could, she could find neither and was trying to wrap her mind around the fact that he might actually mean what he said when once again Rico snapped her out of it.

Looking at her curiously she suddenly grasped what the stones were for and hurried to role them into place on the corners, just now realizing that the wind was blowing lightly through her fur. Smiling self consciously at Rico's words she looked down, unsure how to respond as it further cemented that she wasn't delusional, Dmitri did actually say what she thought he did. She settled for responding with politeness " Thank you for bringing me Mis- I mean, Rico. It was very nice of you."

Rico couldn't help but smile, Lunaria was adorable when she seemed lost for words. "You're most welcome Lunaria, and after today you'll have my number on that emergency sheet, you are free to call Dimitri, Ziggy, or me anytime. Don't know if we'll be awake, but we always call back." She gave the site a once over and looked at Ziggy, "Okay, I'm leaving her in your care, take good care of her." She gave Ziggy a hug, and then walked over and gave Lunaria a hug too, "Take good care of him too."

She walked back up the stairs and from over the railing of the parking lot, Dimitri called, "See you later guys!" and waved a little paw. Then Rico started up the car, and they were off.

Ziggy looked over at Lunaria and the beach, and couldn't help but smile in anticipation, "So chica, what is it you'd like to do first?" He lowered his head so that they were looking at each other on the same level.

Blushing furiously Lunaria was absolutly lost, turning to wave at Dimitri on absolute auto-pilot.

She jumped a bit when Ziggy leaned down to be on her level. "Oh, um....I don't know. I've never been here before..." resisting the urge to look down she instead looked at her surroundings, getting no farther that raising her eyes to teh horizon behind Ziggy, as her eyes were caught immediately by the shifting gilittering expance of brilliant blue ocean. " Oh wow! Its so pretty" Still looking past him she stared in wonder, her eyes following the gentle roll of the waves towards the sandy beach, hitting it and slowly rolling back to meet yet another wave, again and again.

Ziggy watched her eyes and followed her gaze, "Cha, it's like, totally zen." We could go play in the waves, if you like?" He smiled and raced down half the distance between the waves calling back, "Come on and let the waves hit your paws! You love it!"

He smiled and waited, "Oh and bring that clothe bag, I can see some shells from here with your name on them!" He was starting to get the adrenaline rush he always got when he was at the beach, and couldn't help but want to share it with his daughter.

"Oh yes, I'd love to!" Still staring at the ocean in facination she grabbed the mesh bag in her mouth and ran towards the water, following Ziggy. So excited was she that she didn't even realize she'd let her book drop to the blanket, thankfully it fell by the side of the ice chest, which protected it from the wind ruffling its pages.

Not knowing any better, she ran past Ziggy, running all the way up untill her paws hit the wave as it receded.
She laughed with delight as she felt the nice cool sting of the ocean water in contrast with the heat of the day.

Ziggy laughed and followed her, but also watched the water. He looked down at her, and splashed as he ran by, "A bigger wave is coming back up, Run back up the beach, it'll chase you!" He couldn't help but smile and started to walk back up a bit.

The wave met back with the ocean and a new one began to form, the water was only 6-9 inches deep at the max, but the wind blew and the water gurgled and slowly quickly began to surge up the beach again.
