Sovann slathered some honey onto his hair, amused by the way the sticky stuff made his hair stick up. "All right... so, we'll see if this works, and then..." And then they would experiment with the other ingredients if it did! He straightened up from the barrel and looked at Okassis. "Okay, how long should we give this to work, do you think?" He quirked an eyebrow, leaning against a nice heavy crate of supplies. It was sort of amusing being the test subject this time. It had been awhile since they'd actually tried their harebrained schemes on each other.

"How long do you think the buggers can hold their breath?" Okassis replied, replacing the lid on the honey barrel. "... Probably at least an hour, huh," he mused. They might look suspicious hanging around here too long, with Sovann's hair sticking up and smelling so honey-ish as it did. But they'd make a bit of a sight hurrying back to their alcove like this, too. Dang, maybe they should've thought this through a bit more....
Ah, well, what was done was done. Shrugging his shoulders, Okassis settled in to wait against a few crates.

"I'd give it a candlemark at least," Sovann agreed, settling in against the crate. "And then I figure I'll wash it off, and we'll see, huh?" It didn't make sense to leave the stuff in his hair if they were trying to figure out the effectiveness of it. He wasn't sure how well they'd be able to see the little buggers if they didn't wash it out anyway. It was a fardling good thing that he had decided to go back to the barracks after completing his chores. He didn't know how long he would have been able to excuse his absence otherwise.

Nodding his agreement, the trader waited in silence for probably three seconds, before his natural chattiness overwhelmed. "So, they been keeping you half as busy as they've been working me?" Okassis questioned, picking at a loose strong on the hem of his shirt. Grinning, he glanced up. "I've been getting the sense that they want to make sure we don't have time to make any more trouble...."

Sovann sighed and rolled his eyes. "They surely have. Between cleaning the latrines in the morning and working in the kitchens later on, I've barely had any time to so much as sit down. What have they got you working on, oh evil mastermind?" As far as Sovann was concerned, Okassis had that dead in the black. There was no question that the weyrfolk weren't intentionally keeping the two of them busy. "Unfortunately for them, trouble seems to follow us around whether we make it or not." Nan, for example, was very adept at following unwilling (or willing) troublemakers. "You been keeping out of trouble despite all of that?"

"Weeeell," Okassis answered musingly, rubbing his thumb along the line of his jaw and grinning, "it's not really getting into trouble if you don't get caught, so I suppose I have!" Smugly, he continued on chatting; "The healers have put me to work to keep me busy... it's soft work, though, I think I'm going to shmooze whoever works with the herdbeasts to see if I can get some work there...."
The two had plenty of time to catch up while they waited, at least. After a time, though, the trader boy leaned inward. "Say, it's about time to wash that stuff out of your hair, isn't it?"

"Hunnh... you're right! Let's go see if it works." Come to think of it, his head didn't seem to be crawling with the buggers, did it? Maybe it had worked! If anything, they were probably dead. Suffocated, the poor bastards! No louse could see such blasphemous methods coming. "So, I'll wash it of with sweet sand, and then we can decide if the remedy is worth pursuing, hmm?" Snagging Okassis' arm, Sovann headed out toward the Candidate barracks, and not a moment too soon. Just as they were leaving the stores, he heard the chitter chatter of feminine voices. Oooph. That would've been a little hard to explain, wouldn't it? Fortunately, they had just managed to duck out in time.

Okassis paused at the doorway as they left, just long enough to make sure it wasn't anyone he'd known coming by - for a second he'd hoped it would be Nose, but the voices didn't have her usual loudness. It was almost too bad - she'd probably love to get in on this. Maybe he'd try to track her down later, as long as he owed her a favor anyway....
His stalling was broken when Sovann continued pulling him along by the arm. "Well, how's your head feel now?" he asked as they walked, blissfully ignorant (or inattentive) of the stares they were getting thanks to Sovann's sticky-styled hair. "Think that we got 'em?"

"Hmmm... Not as itchy as before, I think. Maybe once I've got this stuff washed out it won't itch at all!" Dragging Okassis along excitedly, he continued to tear through the halls until he reached their dorms. "I think we really have something here, Kas. I think we really do." Only think of the marks that they would make! Oh, it was exciting. Grinning from ear to ear, he ambled toward the baths, completely oblivious to Okassis' thoughts of Nan.
