An Essence Spark? Faolan looked up at the woman in surprise. "I thought they were all destroyed.. and illegal to own now. How did you get one?"

Though he had his reservations, what the boy said he thought it to be had him curious. He reached out to touch the strange object. It didn't feel like stone at all, but bone. The mist that seemed to drip off of it was almost wet, but Fao was sure that was just his imagination.

"Wha- Hey!" Misha protested when he so boldly touched the Spark, but why wasn't he pulling it away now? It seemed to be asking him not to, through whatever strange communication the Essence had that linked them together.

"Our methods are a secret best kept safe, mister Grady." Longway informed him, rather dryly, too. "Oh, you're... Misha, is that thing bonding?" Now she paled a little. Awwww crap. If that was true, they were in for some lecturing by the boss. he'd warned them about this plenty of times! No. Sparks. Until. Contract.

Misha stared, feeling his spine and essence tingle, and nodded.

"Awwww crap."

Fao looked up, hand still on the strange object, seeing the look on the others' faces. "What? Was I not suppose to touch it?" He pulled his hand away, though reluctantly. "I'm sorry. I just.. had this impulse."

A soft whisper slithered through his mind, somehow sounding like the mother he'd never known and all-together eerie at the same time. What am I? What is my purpose? Fao looked up at the woman and boy, wanting to ask about what was happening, but the voice continued on. Tell me. Tell me my purpose.

He leaned over the container, stroking the spark--that's what they'd called it--gently with his fingertips, his mind turning over what was being offered to him. This thing would help him and make his life easier if what the shop staff said was true. His life seemed easy enough, but . . . perhaps to be able to really give people their fortunes instead of only running a scam, to be able to help those truly seeking advice, and--sure, why not?--to be able to better scam those that deserved it.

Fao closed his eyes, thinking back at the rock. Can you hear me, little spark? I want you to help me read fortunes for people. Can you do that?

As you wish.

Misha and his owner were quite blatantly staring at him. Why you...!

The sensations coming from the Source right now were strange, alive, demanding. They made Misha slightly uncomfortable. Looking at that Spark again, maybe its clawed shape, ravenous and eager, wasn't entirely inappropriate. Brr.

"Mi... mister Grady, it b-belongs to you now. It's accepted you..." Misha stammered once the Spark did out and settled, apparently content with the situation now.

"It WHAT?" Timka jumped up from her seat "What did you DO?!" You're gonna get us all in trouble here! DX

"What do you mean, what did I do? It started talking to me. It was very adamant about wanting a purpose," Fao said, looking up at the woman. "If you didn't want that to happen, you should've said something when your bunny boy thrust it at me and the damn thing started to talk." A brief pause. "And what does he mean it belongs to me?"

"You... really have no idea, do you?" Longway really looked rather sick now. With every word he said, her awareness of big, biiiig trouble heightened.

"You know, I... Just..." she got up, skittered to her desk, and retrieved a stack of pamphlets. She dumped them on the black stone table and handed him one.

'Essentic Growth & Influences'. Indeed, a handy beginner's guide. "Take that.. oooh he's gonna kill us."

"Mister Grady, this Spark just attuned to you as its Owner. It's yours."
Misha repeated, rather nervous.

Faolan picked up the pamphlet and looked it over, then at the strange rock. It attuned to him? He owned it? Biting his lip, he looked up at the two shop staff. "Something went wrong, didn't it? This wasn't suppose to happen, was it?" He looked down again at the spark, feeling a strange desire to pick it up again. "What do I do now?"

The two shop assistants looked at each other at his question. Yes,what WOULD he now... This had never happened before, and they KNEW how valuable these things were. Oh dear, oh dear.

A short tussle later -boy those ears were handy to whisper into- they turned to him again, Timka blushing fiercely now in her embarrassment, Misha looking awkward.

"We suggest you wait for the rain to stop and then leave. Tell nobody about this, you hear me? Just take it and leave, and.. if you.. ever... need any help, just give us a call, ME call, or come visit me." While she'd been talking, she'd hastily scribbled her cellphone number and address on one of the leaflets. She handed it to the horned youth as if she was offering him her heart, torn from her chest painfully.

Okay... Fao got the feeling that whatever had gone wrong, they didn't want a part of it. He stood up, picking up the spark, and took the offered pamphlet, then slid both into his coat pocket. "Alright," he said a bit lamely, and really, what else was there to say. He headed to the front door and noticed the rain had mostly let up. It was still coming down in a fine mist, but he had no desire to stay in the shop anymore and took his chances at walking home in the wet weather.

It was a very harsh thing to admit but... They were glad they were rid of him for now.

Oh dear.

Banning would not be pleased if he found out about this.
