Flutter held on tight to his hand. He moved fast, and she was short so she stumbled along behind him till they came to an abrupt stop in front of what must have been his room.
It was enormous.
"Wow."
She exclaimed in a hushed tone, afraid that the sound of her voice would echo in all that open space. All that for just one man? What sorts of things did he do that he needed something so big? She almost didn't want to know.
He was still holding her hand. Flutter thought it was strange how attached Acro was to her, but it was nice to mean something to someone.

He noticed his hand still clasped against hers and began to blush as he slowly removed them. "I built the place myself, so don't think I did something so magnificent to have earned the place from the clan. All I earned was having the portal instead of a tiny dorm."
He said so as he made a gesture with his hands. "After you, Flutter"

She felt him withdraw from her, and noticed that he was blushing. He was a puzzle to her, first he was hot, then he was cold, and always his attention was wandering from one beautiful woman to another. Flutter felt like the flavor of the moment that would get dumped for the first hot chick that passed by and gave Acro the time of day.
Which didn't explain why he was so jealous. Flutter didn't go around chasing boys, she talked to them with the full knowledge that they were humoring her to pass the time. Sometimes she didn't think that they wanted to be there with her at all, but felt guilty about not acknowledging her, so they put in a token effort when they were with her.
Flutter wished that Acro wouldn't act jealous. He had no reason to be, she liked him as a friend. She wasn't going out with anyone, but that didn't mean that she wanted to.
She stepped inside of the portal, and stood to one side of it.
"Why did you join the clan?" she asked in a hushed tone, afraid that her voice would echo in such a big place.

"Let's discuss this matter inside over some tea. Then we can exchange our reasons for joining this clan" Acropilis grabbed her hand again and jumped inside the portal into his graceful courtyard. He opened his grand gold doors and into his living room. The gold linings on the windows on the other side of the room brilliantly glimmered against the suns rays that beamed on the silk sofas. The flooring was ebony marble with a Persian carpet in the center depicting a lion's head with gold and red embroideries around it. The walls were a fine scarlet and saffron that matched the carpet and had there own unique wall hangings from every country that he's visited in his travels. There was some tea already set at the table that Acropilis always put there in case of a guest in a ancient bronze Japanese serving cup mounted on a fine red wood coffee table. Acropilis grabbed a seat casually on the blackened bronze colored silk sofa and made a gesture offering his guest a seat on the opposite sofa parallel to his own.
"Grab a seat and get comfortable, this is going to be a long talk."

Long talk?
Flutter was hesitant to share anything with anyone, preferring to sit back to see what it was that was revealed first. It was a strong part of her personality to be cautious, and reluctant to involve herself into the intimacy of another. Intimacy being more than the bumping of nasties that everyone seemed to automatically assume right off the bat.
She wanted to be a part of something larger than herself. She was tired from roaming around Gaia looking for a place that she could fit into with all of her oddness. She was hostile towards people who were judgemental of her because she was an outsider.
She knew she was strange, it didn't have to be force fed to her with ridicule. Though often that was the way that it was served to her. Along with the bullshit that was lathered on top of it to prettily justify the actions that people took against her.
She was bitter.
Tea was nice though. She sat down on the chair that he'd shown her. She quietly looked around herself to take in the magnificence of her surroundings, which made her feel small and insignificant in that all of her worldly possessions she wore, or had in her shoulder bag.
It would be nice not to have to run anymore.
She waited for him to begin the conversation, carefully sipping at the hot tea.

"The reason I joined the clan my dear," Acropilis stopped to take a sip of the green tea,” was for redemption. Acropilis now took a more serious face as he arched his back over the table. "Ever since the day when I found the gate to the pits of Hell and joined Lucifer, I became a damned in all aspects. A good deal of demons hated me for being a human once and going directly from that to high rank and all humans hated me as a living blasphemy against god and a threat to their existence. Everywhere I went over the 478 years in service of Lucifer, I was shunned, hated, feared, mocked, and tortured by my very existence and presence in this world. I grew to hate myself over time, and my sanity slowly slipped away from me during my service. There was one moment of clarity though, in my dissension that allowed me to break away from my ties with Hell but at the cost of my life. I went through many more bouts to earn my life here back, but everyone still hated me, just a lot more. I came here since it was the only place no one will judge me for what I was and were I can find a way to redeem myself in God's and my own eye."
He paused after the long winded talk he just said and sipped his tea again. "Redemption is the only thing I can do that gives purpose to my life, and the thought of being free from this burden of my past and the deeds I did would be nice. Maybe then I could maybe live a normal life, or even die in peace." He sounded sober for a second and then resumed his casual demeanor. "What about you, why did you join? You don't have to tell me, but it would be nice to share."

His story was a lot more interesting than Flutter's was.
"Someone told me that I would be accepted as family here. I've been missing that lately, and I would like to find a place where I feel like I belong."
She sipped her tea, looking into it's murky depths with contemplation. She swirled the contents with a circular motion. She looked at Acro over the lip of the tea cup.
"I'm tired of running away from my past."

"Tell me about your past, I'm all ears if you want?" His eyes sparked immediate interest in her. What had she gone through to make her so serious? He really wanted to know....

"Where I come from we don't talk about stuff like what happened to me."
She looked down at the floor, a rising bile at the back of her throat building up from her revulsion over the images that her past brought up.
"It's-it's-it's just better that way. Thanks."

"Are you okay there? You look you almost threw up" Acropilis looked at her with a concerned eye as he gently put his hand on her forhead. "No fever from what I see"

"I'm fine."
She shook her head, and leaned back away from his hand on her forehead. Fever? No. Bad memories. Yes.

"Well, then maybe if you eat something you'll feel better. Come and grab a seat at the table While I make sure the Kabob I've been marinating is ready." Acropilis went into his kitchen next door and checked on his kabob

Flutter clasped her hands behind her back, and wandered to the room that she supposed would be where they would eat. It was like every other room in this place. Huge, and intimidating. She thought that she would love having this much space, but when she was inside of it, she preferred her closer and more cozy quarters.
She'd spent too much time in a tent, and not much else for living quarters. She had yet to sign in for her dorm room yet, and was anxious to see if she had to share with anyone. She could ask to stay here with Acro, but then he might take that to mean that she felt a certain way about him.
She liked him, in a platonic way. She never really knew what to make of him though since he was all over the map emotionally. One minute he was attentive, and caring and all into her, the next he was off being the 'gentleman' to someone else.
How seriously could she take him? Not at all.
"What kind of kabob are you making?" she raised her voice to ask, her echo making it hard for her to tell if he could hear her at all.

"Why don't you try and find out?" Acropilis was infamous for his great cooking by those who ever ate it that is. The kabob itself was beef and was a perfect medium cook. The smells of spices were a familiar but still pungent fume that filled the room. The meet was mouthwatering and he wanted to see what she thought of it.
"Try it, I guarantee that if you don't like it, I'll jump into my own pool naked until I catch a cold." He set out two plates in front of her and himself as he hoisted a seat across from her and waited for her to get the first bite...

"Maybe I should just pretend that I don't like it so I could have the excuse to see you run around naked." she teased, a small smirk on her lips.
She took the kabob from him, delicately balancing the stick of speared meat. It looked juicy, so she tipped it to try to prevent squirting meat juice on herself. She took and edge of the first chunk between her teeth, and pulled back on it til it separated from the rest of the chunk that it was attached to.
She chewed slowly, made approving noises, wrinkled her nose, and lied about not liking it.
