The stallion was unaware of Tian-Yi's thoughts, and even if he had been, he wouldn't have known how to reply, her thoughts and opinions were so different to his own, she made him re-examine things he had always taken for granted and though much of what she said wasn't truly understood, it was fascinating. Though he did wonder who these others she kept speaking off were.. and why they had left such a beautiful but vulnerable mare alone in the forest.
One pale ear twitched towards her, listening to that melodious voice even as he carefully carved a path through the forest for them both. Glancing back at her he was about to reply when the unfamiliar whirr of something shot past them, startling him as much as it did Tian-Yi.
For only a second did he pause in shock before her voice stung him into action. "Go!" Agreeing with her advice to run he knew flying in the densely overgrown forest would be impossible. Dropping his wings he spread them as far to each side as he dared even as he herded her in front of himself, urging her into a full gallop. Falling in behind he used his wings to shield her from the sight of the two-leggers behind them as they fled. Hoping that the small action would confuse them enough that their arrows missed their target.

Tian Yi didn't need to be asked to flee twice. Most kirin were pascifists by nature, if not on principle, and the instinct to run had been bred into her so thoroughly that she wouldn't have dreamed of standing to fight. She wanted no part of blood, or battle. The concept of revenge was foreign to her philosophy.
Her legs ached, and her heart felt so strange, straining against her rib-cage as she tried to keep pace with the stallion who followed her. Tian Yi was grateful for the protective canopy of Ehren's wings. Arrows still tore past them, rustling her scarf as they rended the air, but she could not see their pursuers clearly, and that meant it was easier not to be afraid.
Soquili made faster time than two-leggers, even in the densest forest. Soon enough the undergrowth began to thin and Tian Yi's ears pricked at the sound of rushing water.
She halted at the edge of the shore.
"You should fly, now," the mare glanced back at Ehren. In the moonlight, with his muscles straining and his cloak billowing in the wind, he might have been a knight's steed, or the companion of some great ambassador. His bearing reminded Tian Yi of home. "I must... mmm, 'gather my thoughts', I believe is the expression. Then I can escape from here."
She believed. She hoped. Walking on water required mental balance; a feeling of peace, and one-ness with the universe. Tian Yi hadn't been able to so much as pace the surface of a pond since her best friend's execution. But now she was going to have to find something to focus out besides her grief, if she wanted to survive.
A tiny smile graced her muzzle. "It will be easier to do this thing if I do not have to fear for your safety, Sir Shibuya."
And if Tian Yi failed, she didn't want to think about this generous stallion getting cut down alongside her.

Branches reached to grab at fur, mane and cloth, racking down the sleek white hide of the stallion as if trying to slow the pair's mad flight through the forest. As the trees thinned Ehren spread his wings further, hiding Tian-Yi from the two-leggers that still followed behind, though their sounds of pursuit had faded somewhat. Ehren knew enough to expect they would still follow for some time, the two-leggers were stubborn if nothing else.
Skidding to a halt behind the mare Ehren sought to catch his breath, nostrils blown wide as he sucked in great lungfuls of air. Dark storm-grey eyes lifted to her from where they had been searching the forest, a slightly confused expression showing within their depths.
"How will you escape?" he asked, pacing closer to her, wings still spread slightly to each side, though the stallion kept his right wing low, mostly hidden behind his solid frame. "They will still follow us, I wont leave until you are safe."
