I grunted, smirking into my feather-satiated pillow. I elongated my wiry arm to the side of the bed she'd plunged from. "Grab on and I'll pull you up," I slurred with a simper. I felt her hand tap me a few times before attempting an actual hold. I rolled my eyes and sat up. I stretched both arms out and scooped her from the floor, awkwardly situating her next to me on the bed. "Happy?" I groaned, my face already having found the pillow with an imprint of my face on the front. I didn't need to look up to perceive the fact that she was glowering at me through musty eyes. If I wanted to I could have predicted the heavy sigh that followed.
I tinkered with my stark new key, attempting to get it to actually fulfill it's purpose. "There isn't much you're asked to do in life, you know! You toil for a simple few moments in..." I muttered to the piece of offal for a short few seconds before hearing a click in the door. It was one of those instants where so much occurs that you have to have a sharp memory to list each. First I glanced down at my paper of credentials, noting the name of my new roommate, and before my brain could register that the voices in my new room were not that of a female around the age of sixteen and that they were of a rather brawny boy (of about that age) laying beside a disheveled looking girl. A thin blanket on him and a thickset robe on her kept me from seeing that which was obviously inappropriate for the first day, though I had a pretty good idea. "What the..." his voice was thick and heavy as he lifted his head in unison with her's. I yelped and jumped back. Before considering the right thing to say, I managed to come out with a "Nice to meet you," before taking on a full sprint to wherever it would take me.

I exhaled a saturnine sigh, and leaned back on my elbows. My eyes turned towards the abnormal girl for the minuet second she was in the doorway before taking off. Barely had I made out a brightly dyed kimono, that violated the school's dress code; dresses were forbid. The uniformed outfit was that of a skirt and blouse for the female students, while males wore slacks and a button-up shirt. Shoes were chosen by yourself as long as they didn't make you taller than the vice principal who held six foot seven firmly in her grip. Her broad shoulders and ever-growing ruffled mess on the top of her head made anyone run in the opposite direction. I pushed myself back up so I was on my feet and stumbled over the the bathroom and turned on the bath. After it filled up three fourths of the way I slipped off my robe and sunk myself chin deep into the steaming water, wincing slightly.

Seeing that Tess obviously wasn't going to do anything about our previous visitor, I pulled up a pair of slacks and a t-shirt and bolted out into the hallway. It was Saturday, so there wasn't much worry of running into a professor in this wing. I followed the blurred image of a scared little female fleeing for the janitor's closet and stood outside the door after she bolted it shut. I anticipated a whimper, or something of that criteria. Instead I received a tiny growl through the thick wood. "Are you decent?" the voice hissed. "Indubitably," I barked back, slightly agape. The knob turned and I stepped back to let out the girl. Upon seeing her I strained to stifle a laugh which came with beholding an elf-like distaff wearing an illuminatingly pink Chinese gown.
"It's called a kimono, mongoloid." I jeered, turning to face the other way. "Now if you don't mi--" I stumbled over my feet, finding a swift plummet to the tile. I tuned out his bellowing laughter and found my feet again. I began to walk briskly to my room, with hope that the tall enticing boy would not shadow my trail. I staggered a little, but did make it back to the dorm in one piece by some miracle.
I shook my head and made my way back to the male dorm, snickering a little.

It wasn't until the tips of my fingers were crinkled that I pulled the drain, letting out the cooled water. Fully awake now, I wrapped a towel around myself and turned on the stereo to the song, "Stand My Ground," by Within Temptation blaring. Noise complaints, of course, were expected. I tore apart a few drawers before putting together my outfit for the day. It consisted of a shirt black skirt, with a matching shirt that had a Crimson Club Logo on the front (the club I was a waitress at). I pulled on my white and black stripped arm warmers that ended just below my elbow and stockings that shared the same design. At that time I noticed Demetri had fled; a frown formed on my face but left as soon as the chorus kicked in, my voice following each word.

And there I was again, idly facing the door to a home I hadn't wanted. Not ever. I could hear my roommate dressing inside, the pulling of drawers and slamming of a closet molding with a music I'd listened to while on my first plane ride to the arctic to study the behavioral habitue of the emperor penguin. "Mind if I penetrate? This is my room, too." After receiving no response I opened the door, which had been left ajar, making me thankful that I wouldn't have to rummage through my bag for the key I'd so hastily stuffed into the first pocket I could see. This time she was dressed (thank the Lord) so it was only half as uncomfortable as before. I set down my luggage and decided without a moment's doubt that I must have had the wrong room. Her CD's and magazines were scattered about the floor, making it impossible to see whether there was a carpet beneath her feet. The first thing I could think to do was hold out my hand with hopes that the greeting was welcome, the first thing I wanted to do was haul my bags back to the janitorial closet and wait out the semester.

"Sorry for the mess, I haven't gotten around to cleaning it yet," I said, picking up a few of the magazines, then tossing them into the trash bin. "So, is this your first day here? Or was your last roomate unbearbale?" Glancing over at the girl. "By the way, you'll get written up for wearing that. Dresses are prohibited," pointing at her attire.

"First day here, I'm afraid." I looked down at my kimono and moaned a little. It was so dainty and cultural. How could something like that be unallowed? I hung my head a little and sighed, pushing my bags aside. "I see the bellhop's off duty." I grunted under my breath, then looked straight up at her, as if I'd suddenly been struck by something that was so obvious I should have thought of it before. "Would you mind telling me who the boy was? Not that I'm_that I'm...interested...or anything...no! I just...uh...who was he?" How had that happened?I was usually pretty straight forward with people, but this was not my day. Or place. "Because," I continued, trying to save myself before drowning, "I thought that it was, um, against the rules...to have a boy...in the, the room...that is." She probably thought I was mentally retarted.

Kimi sighed and opened her cell phone. The screen blinked 'no new messages' which worried her. she was on her way to school from work, having worked the early shift like always. She was wearing her usual business attire, a gray skirt and matching jacket, vest and dark floral print dress shirt. Her long black hair was combed out straight so it looked neat and clean, and her face was made up lightly so she had a natural but well kept appearance.
She pulled into the school's parking lot and grabbed her briefcase from the back seat before getting out and making her way up to her room. She had two hours to dress and get to her first hour class. When she unlocked her door and stepped into her small dorm room she let out a sigh. The woman was stressed, but she knew what would make her feel better. After securing the door but not locking it, she walked over to the seat next to her window and fished a packet of camel brand cigarettes out of her pocket and put one to her lips. She cracked the window and exhaled closing her eyes.

I giggled a little at her question. "I would like to suggest from the get-go that if you plan on telling the superintendent about my stunts I can assure that he would care less." I turned so that I faced the girl. She obviuosly didn't want to be here. "His name is Demetri, if you must know. " I finished picking up the remainder of the junk and tossed the garbge bag into the corner. Reaching into my pocket, I pulled out my cell phone and wrote a quick message to Kimi about tonight.
"Kimi! Gig tonight at the club. Meet u outside around 5? <3 if you could drive."
I awaited her response as I broke out the makeup bag. "Hey, are you busy tonight?"

Kimi Smiled slightly when she heard her cell phone start to sing. She slipped it out of her pocket and looked at the new text from her band mate. She read it and shook her head a grin on her face. She took another puff of her cigarette and texted back.
"I'll be there."
Kimi never really shared more than she had to, she just didn't feel that they would like her if she acted as... sweet as they did. After finishing her smoke, she tossed the dead butt into a bowel and quickly striped, then pulled a robe on to cover her body. She slipped her cell phone into the robe pocket, then grabbed her towel and soaps before walking out into the hall and down to the end where the showers were. With no hesitation at all she dropped her things and turned on the water. It was hot and comforting. She washed all over. The soap she used smelled of vanilla and lavender, it had been on sale and she didn't spend much money on herself.

"Busy..." I said, attempting to make it look as if I had anything better to do than humor her in whatever she was offering. "Not sure." I finished, awkwardly trying to be slightly elusive. I scanned the room for an empty area, looking down at my bags. "I have to unpack, really. Get...um...settled in, I guess." I swallowed and looked down at my shoes, the silver half-inch heels I got in Italy. They really weren't naturaly fitting with the kimono, but wearing them gave me the feel of being anywhere but here. You could say this was a new adventure, of course, if that is your perspective, but in order to consider it wild and exotic to pick a water fountain over Niagra Falls and a uniform over a Hawaiian sundress would say a whole lot about a person, whether that be positive or otherwise would be your outlook as well.

"Oh. Well at least let me help you with your bags. I suppose, I should to be welcoming,"smiling. I and pushed aside more junk that had been laying dormant for a few weeks, by what was her side of the room. "I really am sorry for this mess. I wasn't informed when my room mate would be arriving." I carefully took her bags and placed them beside her bed, not knowing what she was hiding within them; if they were anything like her flawless heels, I should be as cautious as possible. Although, a normally clumsy person can't force themselves to be graceful with the wave of a wand. A sigh tried to break free from my sealed lips, not wanting to seem flustered with myself. I couldn't believe I let her come to this wreck. Hopefully, I could get this place cleaned up soon. I glanced over to the now empty plug-in air freshener. That needed to be replaced, as well as the scented candles that had dwindled down to stubs on cracked glass plates, of which the wax grew onto rather quickly. My phone beeped twice, receiving Kimi's new message. I replied back with a " =]."

It did not take long before Kimi was clean and out of the shower's powerful blast. She stood a towel wrapped around her torso, in front of the long mirror in the shower room. With steady hands she moisturized and dried her dark hair. She combed product though her locks to keep them straight and smooth. One she was dry she slipped her robe back on and did her make up, applying as little as necessary, but enough to be seen. After making sure her appearance was satisfactory she collected everything she had come in with and walked bare footed back to her small single person dorm room. The phone in her pocket vibrated and she flipped it open, reading the text... A smirk appeared on the woman's face momentarily and she closed the phone again.
She dressed in uniform, a pleated black short skirt, white dress shirt, black tie, sweater vest, knee-high socks, short heeled close toed shoes. There was nothing unique about her other than her height. She grabbed her pack of smokes and slipped it in her bag before heading out into the hall and going for the stairs. She walked two flights down and straight down the hallway before stopping in fount of Tess’s door and knocking with three crisp knocks.

As I picked up one of the champagne glasses that was left so carelessly on the edge of the one nightstand, the sound of the knocking caused me to drop the glass. Shards scattered about the floor, a few slicing open small thin lines across my legs. I winced slightly, walking slowly to the door. "Hey Kimi, you scared me." I frowned, looking back at the floor. "Sorry for the mess." I didn't know why I was apologizing to someone who had seen the room in a worse condition than it was now. I turned back on the heel of my shoes, ending in slip that landed me on the floor. "Ow..." I moaned.
