There was no one downstairs, and there was an almost eerie quiet in the house. One would half expect to walk in on a massacre, if it had been one of those B movies that they'd been intending to watch. The quiet was broken a moment later by a sharp cry from upstairs. Even though it wasn't as loud as it could have been, it was still easily heard.

Raven's voice floated down a moment later. "...be okay. Just stay calm. Did you go to any of those classes dad told you about? Do you remember your breathing?" The frazzled foxcoon appeared at the top of the stairs, flitting by and returning a few minutes later with towels. She caught sight of Kendall at the bottom of the stairs and skidded, nearly losing her grip on the terrycloth. "Ken!" If it were possible, she looked deathly pale beneath her fur. "Ken, Omi's having the baby. Right now. I tried calling mom and dad, but no one's got their phones turned on."

"Yes!" If she'd been in her right mind, or this had been any other situation, that would have likely been followed by a comment of 'I'm not stupid!' or something similar. "But I dunno how long she's been like this, I don't think they're gonna make it." Omi let out a soft wail from her room then and Raven darted off without another word, her footsteps echoing up the attic stairs. "I'm coming!"

To say that time was short would be a gross understatement. Raven had somehow managed to get Omi to roll onto her back and at least the important half undressed. Thank goodness, her bed wasn't facing the stairs, or Ken would have gotten an eyeful right off the bat. Raven was spreading towels around her, flicking her gaze to the prone Fa'e every few minutes. "Ken, the only reason I know what to do is because I watch all the Discovery Health shows when I think no one's home... and my expertise ends at 'Push' and 'Breathe'." The normally calm girl was only keeping herself held together because Omi was in far worse condition than she was.

Fighting the urge to curl onto her side again, Nozomi instead grabbed hold of her pillow and wrapped her arms around it tightly, nearly crying into it as her body tried to rebel against everything she wanted it to do... mainly to stop trying to tear itself apart from the inside out. "I can't do this..." she whimpered, nearly choking on the words. "I can't..."

"Yes you can." Raven turned to her then, chewing on her lower lip. "The ambulance is coming. Just hold on until they get he-.... oh s**t, Ken help me." She dropped down to kneel on the edge of the futon then, hoping that what she had just seen was NOT the beginning stages of a baby.

"I..." Raven started to motion down where she was... then up to the head of the bed, and then just let herself sag as she looked to Kendall helplessly. "I don't know. I didn't sign up for this, I just wanted to play Warcraft!" She was struck with the insane desire to be anywhere but HERE at the moment, but knew it wouldn't amount to much.

Omi, for her part, was trying to stay calm. It was difficult, with the pain and with the knowledge that the only two people around to help her were as little prepared for this as she was. It had started earlier in the day, but she attributed her backache and mood to just not getting enough sleep. As the day wore on, she only felt worse and had gone to lay down... and that was when she'd been forcibly woken by this. Not trusting herself to even make it down the stairs by that point, she'd just hung on until Raven stumbled across her. "L-look on the bright side, Ken..." she murmured, relaxing during the few moments of respite she had in between contractions. "You're not Rune. That means you don't have to worry about me trying to rip your manhood off."

"Rune's the jerk who got her into this mess," Raven offered, catching sight of where Ken's gaze was going and forcibly put herself right in his line of sight, in between him and the current object of his horror. "Stay with me, Ken," she murmured, as much for her own sake as his. "You can come to grips with female anatomy later."

The moment's coherency was gone and Omi let out a sharp scream, clinging to the pillow again as her insides felt like they all wanted OUT now. As far as she was concerned, they could do just that so long as they stopped trying to wind her up in knots. She had always prided herself on being calm and rational... but tonight was blowing that particular concept right out of the water.

The reaction was almost instant. Omi reached out, snatching hold of his hand and clinging to it as if it were a lifeline. By this point, she was gasping for breath, promptly forgetting everything she'd learned about what she was supposed to be doing. That was when she felt the itching at her back that quickly turned maddening. NOW what fresh new hell was her body going to put her through. She didn't have time to wonder as her stomach rippled again, the tightening of muscle nearly visible.

Her wings had been folded tightly against her back, out of the way... and now they seemed to be growing pale, as if they were just fading away. In fact, that's exactly what they were doing. Just as they had likely done to her father when she was born, the thin membrane of her wings vanished, then the boned spurs dissolved into a soft dust against the sheets of her bed.

Raven wasn't paying attention to THAT end... her focus was entirely on the tiny (relatively speaking) head that had started to emerge. For a moment, it looked like hair, wet and plastered to the baby's scalp, but a second look revealed that it was most definitely NOT. "What the hell..." she murmured, finally remembering what she was there for, and tried to reach for the baby.

Newborns were SLIPPERY. Raven struggled, trying to catch hold of the baby... or what she could see of it. All there was here, was a head so far. She couldn't just grab THAT... but the rest of it wasn't quite ready to come out yet. At first, she ignored him. At the second call of her name, she nearly snarled. "Look, unless you want to come down here and deal with this end, I highly suggest you stay at that end and ******** HANDLE IT."

Omi, for her part, wasn't even able to really hear them by this point. There was worry in Kendall's voice, but she was detached, not really realising that it was directed at her. The vivid green eyes were tightly closed, Omi focusing on what her body wanted to do, and not much else. The pinched lines across her face were accented by the dark markings that had always been there, since her birth. The black lines, the purple stains at her hands and feet... she'd long since grown accustomed to them, and it had only taken her until childhood to stop trying to wash them off. Now, however, it seemed that she was getting her wish. Like her wings, the markings began to fade, slowly at first, and then they were simply gone, showing pale skin instead.

Raven could SEE every time Omi pushed, it was like just a little bit more of the baby was emerging. She felt just as helpless as her brother, not knowing what to do or what to really expect. Somehow, you just didn't quite see this part on television. "I... okay, Omi. The baby's coming, I can see his head, just keep pushing, okay?" The almost green foxcoon looked up at Kendall then, shooting him a silent look of encouragement.

Omi arched up hard then, her body tensing to the point where her hand was tight around Kendall's. In that instant, Raven was faced with a squirming heap of baby suddenly landing in her arms.

OhmanohmanohMAN.... what the hell is this, it's slimy and gross and there's BLOOD. Her internal diatribe ended then as she stared at the tiny Fa'e in her arms and went nearly white. She'd known something was 'off' about it... after all, there wasn't a Fa'e out there that was normal, but it took a moment to register. Her gaze slid over the smooth skin, the almost spined 'flares' that seemed to be where Omi's wings had gone. There was what appeared to be a fin atop the baby's head... but what caught her attention and held it were the appendages where the boy's legs should have been. History had taught her to check for fingers, toes, etc. And while she should have come up with twenty-one (including the one extra part that announced he was definitely a boy), she was still only coming up with... thirteen?

A pair of sucker-laden tentacles tried to wrap around her wrists as the tiny infant let out his first wail of 'oh crap it's COLD' out here. Raven looked up at Kendall with wide eyes as her ears snapped back against her hair, flat enough to vanish completely. She didn't even know what to say. She didn't know where to START. She didn't know who this Rune character was, but if this was any indication, her sister had slept with a tentacle monster.
