Screaming had slowly molded into squealing, which had fallen into sniffling. Sniffling had turned into… well silence. Ear pressed against the door, she knew that her friend was home. She knew that he, of all people, would be the axe.

Either he sided with her, and she could have sweet salvation, of she waited in this bathroom until they beat the door down and killed her. Eyes wide with terror, ear glued to the door-- she waited.

Any sign, any clue, anything! Something that would spare her from her horrible fate! Something that, for all intensive purposes, might give her some time to try to climb out her one escape: the window!

But wait! There was salvation! There was one set of words that would always get girls out of trouble, no matter what the situation!

“HE TOUCHED ME IN MY SPECIAL PLACE!!!”

He grumbled, but gave a quick nose-kiss back, scowling at the other boy for his terrible jokes. "You have your own bed, across the street. You are going to give Sydni nightmares about crazy hobos under her bed at this rate," he snarked dryly, turning back to the bathroom door.

He snorted, half in amusement and half in disbelief, knocking lightly on the door.

"You both, stop behaving like three-year-olds," he reminded them, though giving an especially wry glance to Quinn. Still, he had a girlchild here to calm, and he leaned against the doorjamb patiently.

"V'ill you come out, please? I v'ill make sure Quinn does not do anything untoward towards a lady like yourself," he reassured all too seriously. "Plus, v'e need to get you some better fitting clothes v'hile you are here. You cannot v'ear my sweatshirt forever."

He looked over at where the kitten lay sleeping so blithely in the middle of the hall, ignoring the mayhem around it.

"Mr. Slinky v'ill be sad ee'f you stay ee'n there, too," he added. It was obvious in his tone: poor Mr. Slinky.

Quinn frowned. "Well, sleepovers are always fun, and I'd prefer not to use the floor. How come she gets a bed, but I don't?" He pouted, but more jokingly than anything. "I'm not behaving like a three year old, but she kicked me in the 'special place', as she calls it. Are you aware how much that hurts? A lot, is the answer. It hurts a lot." He grumbled.

"And I was being nicer than usual, today, too. I was very proud of myself. Also, you need new cereal." He didn't elaborate.

"Wait. She gets to wear your CLOTHES, too? How come I don't get one of your sweatshirts to wear? I mean, I know I don't usually wear clothes, but I would if they were yours! That's what boyfriends do, right? Let the other one wear their clothes. I guess she's just more important than me, is it?" He said the last line jokingly, but the rest of it was completely serious.

He was not above being jealous of a little kid.

"Mr. Slinky? You have a new cat, too? Geez, and I thought I was bad for camping out here a few times a week, and now you have whole new residents!"

Tepin sulked-- nay, pouted at the accusation that she might be anything less than a mature and rational adult. Because, quite clearly, she was one. You’d have to be an idiot not to see that. And idiot like Mr. Peacock!!

She… was… in the CLEAR! WIN! Even if it meant she didn’t win win, it meant that she had at least earned herself a little more time alive. And, judging from her friend’s tone, she was sure that she had at least earned some favor-- he wouldn’t be giving her clothes if he simply planned to kick her out. So slowly, cautiously, she listened-- clicked the doorknob, undid the lock, and finally opening the door and crossing her arms in a very intimidating manner.

“Yes.” She smiled maliciously at Mr. Peacock’s insecurity, “I am.” She was a girl, so of course she was more important than boys! That was just common sense!

But then he continued, and she felt she had no other options than to butt in once more. “No!!”

Her glare made it obvious that she was trying to look like an adult-- and failing horribly.

“Mr. Slinky is my cat.”

She scowled at him once final time, before flipping her hair as she turned, she moved towards her new friend. Her tiny, tanning hands reached up, fingers wrapping around his palm protectively. She would be nothing but polite to him-- he wasn’t stupid like his friend.

“Thank you.”

Smiling up at him, she made it perfectly clear she would be content to simply ignore the other boy.

For a moment, it was all he could do to blink at Quinn. The other boy...wanted one of his sweatshirts? Granted, he'd managed to pick up three new ones, but...

The thought of letting Quinn wear one wasn't that untoward. Plus, it would keep him quieter than if he'd been trumped by Vale's newest stray. So, matter of factly, he tugged off today's sweatshirt, handing it with an exasperated smile to Quinn.

"Here. No need to be jealous." It almost felt like it was Christmas with how much he was giving away these things. Now he just had one, and if that one was lost - he'd be back to the vest.

Of course, Quinn had plenty to be jealous about when he reached down to pick Tepin up, cradling the girl like a princess (and resembling the exact same way he oftentimes tended to just pick Sydni up and take her with him), already heading back down the staircase.

"You're v'elcome. Quinn, these are my house-guests. Tepin, and Mr. Slinky. Be nice-" he paused, then looked back up the stairs with an outraged glare.

"V'hat do you mean you sleep here?"
PostPosted: Wed Apr 08, 2009 12:27 am

Quinn grinned and pulled the sweatshirt on. It was too big, but he loved it anyway. It was from Vale. More importantly, his Vale. He was certain of that, for the time being. Just in time to see him pick up Tepin like a little princess and cradle her down the stairs.

He decided to take the high road, and pout furiously instead of complaining about it. He stomped along behind them, and nodded. "I know their names. We've met." He sat himself down on the couch, and patted next to him for Vale to sit down.

"Uhhh, that's not really very important. I've only slept here a few times." A week. "I mean, not all the time. Hey! That is a big street! I don't want to walk all the way across it every night! And you never lock your doors." Or your windows. "So I come in, when I need-" Want. "To."

His inner thoughts could get in the way, sometimes.

"I'm sorry. Was I not supposed to?" He looked up at Vale with puppy dog eyes, as honest as he could be (not very) about not knowing that he shouldn't have done that.

"I guess I won't come over anymore, if you don't want me to." He stared at the ground.

Her delicate fingers caught his shirt, gripping it tightly at the chest-- she was in the air. The air! And judging from the other boy’s reaction-- this was very bad for him. Which, Tepin rationalized, made it very good for her. The thought made a slightly malicious smile curl at the edge of her mouth. It was as if something so small and delicate might actually have an effect on their relationship.

This was only confirmed as her body whirled through the air, at mercy to Vale’s many whims. She was looking back at Mr. Peacock now, eyes wide from the sudden shock of being turned so suddenly. It was strange-- she wasn’t sure when the last time she had been held like this was… Certainly not since she was very little. But then again, being around that man seemed to make her feel little again. The tiny details-- being served dinner, eating together, being lifted to reach things-- these were the things that disappeared as the girl aged. And while she prided herself on being unnaturally mature (However true that might be), it felt rather nice to be treated like a little girl again.

Admittedly, physically, she was very little. She knew she needed help to reach things. But to actually get help, that was something different all together.

And though she was being spoiled-- Tepin couldn’t bother help but hide the frown that sunk into her face. She was here, she was a princess (apparently), and yet it seemed like Mr. Peacock was still getting all the attention!!

“Hey--hey! Varu,” Her hand tugged lightly on Vale’s shirt, she would have her revenge! “You should lock your windows! Bad people could get in!”

Like that guy over there, for instance!!

The look he gave Quinn was highly reminiscent of a man who was not amused, and who would be locking his windows in the future. But still, he snorted, sitting down on the couch grudgingly.

"You know that v'ont v'ork on me now," he reminded Quinn dryly. "I know your tricks." Still, he softened the blow a bit, tugging on Quinn's braid in the Vale-version of a hair-ruffle.

He may or may not have taken every opportunity he could to mess with that hair. Playing with feathers, batting distractedly at the end, simply tugging on it and dragging Quinn along for the ride.

He blamed his god. That's what he did. He was just glad Quinn hadn't caught onto the fact that Valeriu was easily distracted by the very same things that would distract the tiniest kitten - yarn, laser-pointers, twisty-ties. And it was for the best Quinn never knew. Valeriu would never be able to live it down.

"Hm. You have a very good point there," he admitted to the girl. "I think I v'ill. Thank you for reminding me." He couldn't help it - she was tiny, and a girl, and the big brother in Valeriu was more than happy to coddle her for the time being.

If only he knew the battle that was beginning.

Actually, he might've had an inkling. He knew Quinn was most certainly not above engaging in schoolyard fights with little girls.

Quinn frowned. "But then, how could I get in to come snuggle up with you?" He refused to let that girl win!

" 'Varu'," He snorted. "That's cuter when Sydni does it." He sighed. "Alright, look, if we're gonna go shopping for the little girl, I want to come. I need some new shorts, anyway." He seemed very happy with this idea. "Shopping time!"

Quinn was excited. He liked shopping. And, he was fairly certain, he could get Vale to buy his things. So he wouldn't have to pay! Win-win situation. Besides, Vale owed him for working at the supermarket. Technically, it was the other boy who made the damage.

Technically.

She frowned up at her ‘knight’ giving him those eyes that girls were so much better at compared to Quinns. In no way, shape, or form did she want him to come shopping with them. In fact-- she was pretty sure that shopping would be out of the question-- she was only supposed to be here ‘Until she was ready to go home’.

If Tepin had known that only months earlier, Varu had been the standard ten year old boy, she might have had half a mind to let her wear his old clothes. She knew Sydders was there-- but no matter how small she was, baby clothes would not fit her. Regardless, the fact remained that she had exactly one pair of panties, and a good pile of torn and stained clothes at her disposal. Something would need to be done if she was going to remain clothed for any length of time.

“B-But if we go shopping… Then I have to get” She pulled herself up close from a coquettish shyness, hand cupping around his feline ears to whisper, “Panties!”

"You use the front door," he reminded the boy dryly. "Not the v'indows." He thought for a moment. "And that ee's only ee'f you knock."

God help Quinn if Valeriu ever found the boy in his bed. There were limits. Many limits.

Oh, if there was ever any word that could send the chaste boy blushing to the tips of his ears, it was that.

Sure, Sydni was a girl. But she was a young girl. He was only used to the needs of young-young girls - and girls always seemed to need more and more the older they got. Things that were especially foreign to Valeriu. Girl-things. Lady-things.

He hoped it would be a don't ask, don't tell set-up.

Ears flicking back in embarrassment, he gave Tepin a nod, ruffling her hair.

"You can get v'hatever you need." Just don't tell me. "Just add ee't to the basket. I do not mind."

And he really didn't. He had savings put away for things like this. Even if she was at his house for only a day or two, he wanted to make sure she had everything she needed. He wasn't exactly well stocked with little girl clothes.

He got up, turning back around to set Tepin on the couch. "I v'ill go get my v'allet, and then v'e can head out, da? Ee't ee's early. V'e can avoid the crazy mothers this time." He hummed in approval at the thought, heading back up the stairs - it was always good to get out of dodge of moms with shopping carts. He'd had his tail run over more times than he could count.

Quinn sighed. "Where's the fun in that?" He eyed Tepin warily, as Vale started going up the stairs.

"I'm gonna come with you, Vale. I'd rather not start another fight." He jogged up the stairs to catch up to Vale. He followed the other godling inside the room, then grinned and quietly shut the door behind him. "So, I'm excited to go shopping," he said, reaching out and grabbing the boy's hand to get his attention. "So many things you can get, you know?" He slipped in front of Vale, pressed up close against him, and wrapped his arms around his neck.

"So much fun you can have." He was no longer talking about going shopping. He lifted himself up on his tiptoes, going in to kiss Vale. The girl could wait; she acted like she didn't want to go shopping, anyway. What's a few minutes? And, there was a bed right next to them. Perfect for...whatever they decided to do to pass a few minutes. And that girl was a brat, surely Vale would be glad to be rid of her.

Right?

Quinn had trouble convincing himself. Vale seemed to like her a lot.

Well, could she do this?

Quinn tilted his head to Vale's neck and licked up to his chin, softly. He nibbled at the other boy's lower lip.

I wouldn't know.

Her feet kicked back and forth against the couch, watching him leave.

But then… Satan, in all his rainbow glory, had decided to follow! What was a girl to do? Mr. Peacock would probably suck poor Varu’s soul right from him should he get the chance. This was not good. Varu was too nice of a guy to be hanging around with someone like that! Someone who took in little girls friends with someone that broke into people’s houses? That was completely and utterly irrational.

How people of such complete opposite personalities and morals could get along, let alone actually be in a relationship, made absolutely no sense!! A hand went to her head an exasperation-- it seemed like everything that Tepin had seen in the last day or so had made no sense. Why did she even bother saying that anymore? After today, she felt she ought to be pointing out when things were logical.

“Varu~” She called as he reached the top of the stairs, “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t!”

Hopefully, hopefully he would understand that Tepin would never do anything nice to Mr. Peacock, let alone date him. Hopefully he would take her advice to heart and dump him then and there---

But even she knew that was wishful thinking.
PostPosted: Wed Apr 08, 2009 6:57 pm

He tripped, caught himself, and pretended he wasn't dying of embarrassment.

What did she mean, 'don't do anything I wouldn't'?

He was just going to get his wallet! Nothing was going to--

Oh, how wrong he was. The door closed with a click, and he found himself with an armful of Quinn. He remembered that he should have minded, for some reason, he was in here for something besides this--

But the other godling had to go for his neck, and all confusion was wiped away at the tense beating of his heart. He had to be careful - even that was pushing it, and he didn't want to recoil or injure Quinn in a reflex to protect his throat. It was a fine line, pushing his instincts like that, but Quinn wasn't stupid enough to bite.

Vale held no such reservations, nipping back vengefully for Quinn daring to eat his cereal without asking, the annoying--hmm, his back was really smooth for such a skinny--when did he end up pushing Quinn against the edge of the bed--

There was something, something...He remembered! Wallet! Shopping! Houseguest!

Growling, he pulled away. "You! Don't do that," he commanded, releasing Quinn and hurriedly straightening out his clothes with an accusing look that said it was all Quinn's fault. "Distracting me - I came ee'n here for my v'allet."

What had he done? This was his parents' room! You couldn't kiss in your parents' room! He wasn't even sure you could hug in there either. Holding hands, maybe.

Fumbling his wallet and tail swishing nervously, he half-expected his parents to pop out of the closet with the Look. Taking Quinn by the hand, he tugged the boy on out of the room. "Come on, before the mothers get there."

Before his mother showed up and found him kissing someone in their room. It would be just his luck for them to finally return and discover that.

Quinn melted into Vale as he was pushed against the bed, proud that his ploy had worked. That is, until Vale snapped out of it and went back for his wallet. "Hey, now, I'm not distracting you any more than you want to be distracted!" He grinned. When Vale took his hand to lead him out, though, he was back to being proud of himself. As they walked down the stairs toward Tepin, he swayed their hands back and forth to make it really obvious that they were holding hands.

Nyah nyah nyah-nyah nyah! Vale likes me best!
Quinn, don't antagonize the child.

"Alright, let's go shopping! You sure you have your 'V'allet', Vale?" He poked the other boy in the side playfully. "We wouldn't want Little Girl to go without clothes, now would we?" He made an exceptionally fake smile at Tepin, then wrapped his other arm around Vale's arm, in a possessive gesture.
