Bari dipped a paw into the water and was delighted o see her paw clean, for the most part. There wasn't really much swampy-slime on it, at all! "Clean!" she pronounced, beaming.
She walked around the area once, twice, and a third time, slowly, taking in effect the size and location of the boulders as well as the pool itself. It was a decent size. A bit small, but large enough for two lions to swim and relax comfortably together. Definitely good enough for private time for the lioness.

"Good," she said, taking a seat rather than walking around as Bari did, her eyes on the pool of water. It certainly looked perfect. Not too dark or dirty, hopefully not surprisingly deep- it didn't seem big enough to be too far down. Now she wondered if there was anywhere nice and comfy for her to stay, assuming Bari would not mind.
Of course, Tamaa had helped to find it. She would assert her claim in the area, even if she never actually came by.
"Anywhere soft and dry for me, you think?" she asked, curling her tail around her feet and looking around some more.

She padded around back to her grandmother and gave the older lioness a nuzzle in thanks for helping her find the perfect spot.
"Dry?" she snickered. "We can try looking for a place, but I don't doubt it'll be a little bit wet. If you'd like, we can look around this area for a spot. I saw a bunch of small grasses over that way, before," she nodded her head in the direction mentioned, "that I think will be nice and soft for you. And it should be close to your den, so it won't be that much of a walk to get to."

Tamaa leaned into the nuzzle when Bari walked by, pleased to have been help and smiling when she laughed at the idea of finding a dry spot. She knew it wasn't an easy task, unless perhaps she wanted to climb up on those rocks but that was certainly not a good idea for someone her age.
"I agree," she laughed, "Dry land has got to be just about the only thing I miss. Let's go see what you have in mind." She pushed herself to her feet once again, taking a step int he direction Bari indicated but waiting for Bari before actually going along.

"Yeah, dry land was nice to have sometimes. Especially when it rains, since the ground here just manages to soak everything up and overflow everywhere else. It's surprising that the lions haven't had to move to higher ground. I guess it all drains away, somehow," Bari rambled a bit, leading the way slowly so Tamaa would easily follow and keep up.
"On the other paw, it's good for the grass and the plants here, since they need so much water. That's why it's so soft in places." They quickly came upon a small, open area covered in green. The ground squished a little when the young lioness stepped on it, but it was still pretty firm. "How's this? Or is it too close to my spot?" she teased.

"Flooding is why our family ended up so far away," Tamaa reminded Bari cheerily, not too worried about it as they moved along, "It's a good thing it drained or we'd all be out away from our lands still." She wondered about how long it had taken for the lands to be reclaimed, about how dedicated the original pride must have been to have had at least two groups who would not lose faith and return to their home.
She followed despite losing some of her attention to wondering, and nearly ran into Bari when she stopped. Shifting her weight onto one paw, attempting to test just how squishy the land was, she seemed satisfied. It wasn't bad at all, though a bit of rain might make it worse.
"How would you feel about having your old grandma so close?" she shot back with a grin rather than answering directly what she thought about the spot.

Mm, that was true. Bari nodded at the reminder. She should probably actually be used to it, by now. While rain wasn't so bad, really, too much of it could be really annoying.
And too bad that her family had returned to probably the wettest spot on earth, where it just happened to rain the most. That's irony for you.
"Eh," she thought aloud. "As long as you don't constantly check up on me, if I bring friends back to my little pool, then I don't mind at all. Easier for me to come visit you." And by 'friends,' of course, she meant both girl and boy lions. Wasn't it just yesterday that her parents were bugging her about finding a "nice male lion to settle down with?" She rolled her eyes at the thought. In time, she had told them. Good things always take longer to happen than bad things.

"I wouldn't check in on you, dear, you know me better than that," she responded with mock-offense, though she knew as well as Bari that she did enjoy checking in, keeping up on things that went on.. it was just one of those things that kept her going day to day, talking to her son, his mate or their children. About how their days were going, interesting goings-on, their health.. anything! The thought of Bari making some friends was pleasant, and Tamaa would be lying if she denied her part in the 'finding a nice boy' commentaries.
"Let's see," Tamaa said, walking past her granddaughter and walking in a slow circle around the area. She paused twice before finding a spot she deemed to be the driest and softest, and then she lay down.
"I like it," she said decisively, smiling back over at Bari.

It was just too-grandmotherly for Tamaa not to check in on Bari and everyone else in their family. It simply was unheard of. Just like how she fixed the younger lioness' hair all the time, because of that one curl. Not that she minded, of course, but it was one of those things she just couldn't see her grandmother not doing.
She smiled happily at her grandmother as the older lioness paced around the area slowly before laying down in a specific spot. "I'm sure if you wanted to brighten it up a bit, we could find flowers and some rocks to decorate the place. I bet I could bug my brothers to help me," she offered kindly. Whatever was wanted to make it more 'home-y,' after all.

"I'd like if you brought me some things, of course," Tamaa responded cheerfully to the idea, always enjoying whatever her grandchildren had to show her or brought for her. Simple things meant a lot.
She stretched out a bit before curling into a comfortable position. She was definitely ready for a break, and there was no time like the present to test out just how comfortable the little area would stay.
"I'm going to stay here, I think," she said, "You don't have to stay here with me, dear. Go find something fun to do."

Bari beamed at Tamaa again and gave the older lioness a nuzzle. "I'll be back with some pretty stuff, promise. And you never know; I might surprise you with some things next time!" That was the plan, after all. If Mother felt like it, she could come along. And Muhali. Maybe even Dama, if she got him to think about it and put effort into it.
He could be productive if he wanted to. That was the problem most of the time, though. He didn't want to.
"I'll see you later, Grandmother." The lioness gave a last nuzzle and smile and trotted off back towards the dens, keeping an eye out for pretty things to help decorate both hers and Tamaa's new favorite places.

Tamaa smiled at Bari and returned the nuzzle, laughing at the promise to find something pretty and the possibility of surprises. This was nice, she liked this. It was nice of Bari to take time out of her afternoon to walk with her and to hunt for decorations.
"Have a good afternoon, dear," she called after Bari as she ran off, watching her go until she couldn't see her any longer and then resting her head on her paws to take a nap.
