Alex walked down the hall. It was strangely quiet. No one was around. Not a soul. The hallway seemed to lean left and right as he walked, causing him to stumble and drop his bag. As he reached down to pick it up, he heard a tapping from the other end of the hall. His gaze shot up to see a man standing there with a bloody knife. The man bolted forward and Alex ran. All the while, he could hear the sound of the knife tapping on every door his pursuer passed. After Alexed passed about five doors, he realized from the tapping that the man had passed seven.
He wasn't moving fast enough. He saw his room just ahead and darted through the door, slamming it and locking it behind him. He stood there, unmoving and staring at the door as sweat poured from his face. He let out a deep breath as his heart pounded furiously. He sat down upon the floor, staring at the door to his room with a slight feeling of relief as the door remained quiet, but his relief was short-lived. A clicking noise from behind him sent chills down his spine.
The hammer of a gun being pulled back froze Alex solid for a moment before he spun around to see a man holding a pistol, pointed at him. Alex's vision was blurred and he couldn't quite see the man, though he knew there was something different. This man was not the one from before. Two of them? Alex thought. The man laughed a bit, then his finger began to pull back on the trigger.
The sound of the gunshot froze Alex's heart...but the shot missed. The floor beneath their feet collapsed from under them, the rest of the building with it. The sudden collapse caused the man's shot to go wide. Alex fell. He kept falling, much farther than he should have. It was as if there was no ground for him to land on, and everything went dark. Am I dead? he thought, No, I can still feel. I can still...no, I'm not dead. But wh- his thoughts were interupted by the site of the pieces of a broken roof falling toward him and in an instant, everything was black again.

Alex sat up sharply, his fingernails digging into the wall next to his bed, leaving scratch marks in the wallpaper. Another nightmare... he though, That's the last time I dive into police records. He laughed a bit, wiping the sweat from his brow. His heart was still racing and he felt nauseous. He crawled out of his bed. Nearly falling to the floor as he stumbled over his still-unpacked belongings, he grasped the nightstand, bracing himself as he walked slowly to the window and opening the curtains. The sunlight eased his mind and nausea.

Karla gave Reina a knowing look. "Quitting includes not smoking you know. But, yeah we should head out," she quickly answered before her friend could say anything. She reached for the door handle and paused.

A feeling of extreme distress washed over her. She cocked her head. It's gone.... Who's so freaked out that I can feel it from here? Shaking her head and the feeling away she opened the door and stepped out into the hallway.

Once in the corridor Karla looked down the hall and stepped right back into the room, shutting the door behind her. Horns? "There's a... there's an.." She stammered.



He froze. There's another. This should be interesting. Pulling his sexiest grin, he headed toward the recently closed door.

She shook her head, frustrated that she was this unhinged over another of her kind. "It's nothing, I just overreacted." She offered Reina a reassuring smile. "Let's go."




Kopecz raised his hand to knock but, let his hand drop as the door handle started to turn.
