Kweupe tilted her head curiously as she turned to look at him again.
"Where I always go," she replied in a very matter-of-fact sort of way before holding up one paw for him to see it.
"Wherever my paws take me," she added with a soft grin and returned to walking in the direction of the trees he had been heading towards before she put his mind on other things. She inwardly laughed over his confidence. Mauja was definatly turning out to be a real pleasure having met.

"Can you climb?" she asked when they got close enough to the trees to be shaded a bit by them.

"Can I climb?" the question seemed a bit silly, but it peaked Mauja's interest. Kweupe was a climber as well? It all seemed too perfect.

"If I couldn't climb, I don't think I'd be much of a cheetah at all." He knew that cheetahs weren't known for climbing, but it was just too much apart of his lifestyle. If he didn't climb.....well, the world would be just too wierd for Mauja's liking. Besides, he'd probably be as boring as a tree stump.

"So we're climbing somewhere?" Mauja gazed up at the large trees, feeling at home among them. "My dear, if you wanted to be alone with me, you could've just asked." He felt like teasing her a bit, with a smug grin on his face.

As soon as she was able to, Kweupe leaped into the lower branches of one of the trees with a laugh. She glanced over her shoulder, her eyes narrowed at him slightly.
"But if I had asked, you wouldn't have been surprised," she replied smoothly, a grin settling slowly on her features. She wasn't the best at climbing, and in fact was rather out of practice, but it didn't really show. She was a master entertainer, as she had been trained and one of the very first lessons learned was, "No matter how well you are doing, always make it look like you meant to do that. If you make a mistake, go with it like it was all part of the plan. The audience will never know the difference."

"Come along then," she added, flicking her tail in his direction as she walked along a branch, heading towards one that was near enough for her to safely cross into another tree. "Wouldn't want to get left behind, though I'm sure you're enjoying the view."

Mauja layed his front right paw on the side of the tree, staring up at the female cheetah, performing just for him. "Well, I wouldn't say I'm not liking the view." He ran his eyes across her speckled coat, from her nose to the tip of her tail. This little adventure of theirs seemed to be getting more and more interesting as time progressed and the evening encroached.

Crouching down upon his haunches briefly, Mauja leapt skillfully onto the branch. It was almost as if he had been living in trees his whole life, with the amount of time he spent in them.

Following her closely, Mauja pawed at Kweupe's tail playfully, wobbling the branch back and forth. "I think you're trying to kidnap me." He bounced up for emphasis. "Silly girl, you should know better then to climb into trees with strangers."

Ooooo, did he know how to look at a female just right. Made her feel all warm and giddy inside.

"Oh really, now? Well, then perhaps I should return to the safety of the ground," Kweupe shot back before tumbling out of the tree. It was the trick mama-Tumbi hated the most, but the young cheetah had always loved the rush of falling towards the ground, twisting and turning artfully in the air to the shocked and surprised gasps of the onlookers. She knew her limits and never fell very far, just enough to awe, not enough to risk her delicate legs.

She landed with a small thump and after a moment, she looked up at him, tilting her head.
"It would appear I have escaped. What say you now, Mr. Stranger?" she asked in a challenging tone of voice, grinning up at him.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 11, 2009 8:13 pm

Oh my, was she actually trying to escape? There was just no way Mauja could let that happen, no matter how wonderful it was seeing her tumble down from her perch. He was having too much fun.

Calling upon his skill in 'flying', Mauja bounced a few times on the branch then leapt down towards the earth, right in front of where Kweupe stood. Although it hurt his paws just a bit for going so far away from the tree, Mauja would never let her see. Instead, he cooly stood in front of her, gazing down with a smug grin upon his maw.

"You didn't think you could run from this stranger, did you?" his legs faltered slightly, knocking him forward towards Kweupe. Trying to regain his coolness and composure, he took up a standing position right in front of her, merely inches away from her nose.

Impressive. Mauja had the makings of an acrobat in him, and frankly it was a really attractive feature. Her own brother had lost the heart for it right before they left the original troupe, and since then she had no one to enjoy her old stunts with. It was a frustrating thing when none of her children showed an interest, but there wasn't anything she could really do for it. If they didn't want to, they didn't want to.

Kweupe's eyes narrowed and her grin shrank into a small smile and she leaned forward enough so that their noses touched.
"Mmmmm, run yes. But escaping is the last thing on my mind," she replied smoothly. And with that, she moved her head to the side and walked forward, rubbing her cheek across his, then brushing their sides together, and then finally curling her tail around his as she slipped away from him again, ready to continue their adventure. She paused to look over her shoulder, watching him with an wondering look.

His skin tingled as she passed.

"Run?"

Mauja turned, following her slinky figure with his eyes. He watched her tail slid from his, tracing them up to her eyes. His paws twisted on the ground beneath him, and he slowly walked up beside Kweupe, tracing up her back leg with his tail, curving it around her ear. "You're just taking me on a big trip, now aren't you?" Leaning in close, Mauja's tone lowered, and he spoke in a whisper. "'Cause you know I'll follow you."

"Mmmm, I guess you've figured it out. Why must you ruin all of my surprises?" Kweupe asked and was suddenly struck with a fun idea. Run indeed.

"How about we play a game, then," she replied in tone most suggestive. She was attempting to lead him on, catch him off-guard. It was what she lived for. It would make escaping so much easier if his mind were thinking through the possible meanings of her words.

"I run, and you catch," she added after a slightly drawn-out pause and dashed off into the forest as soon as the last word left her mouth.

"A game?" Oh gods, what was she planning? Mauja could only think of the games he liked to play, and he doubted she meant any of them. His were either too dangerous, or eh.....well, that just about covered it.

Lost in his thoughts, Mauja was a bit slow to realize that Kweupe had darted into the forest. Back there, eh? Why must she taunt him so?

Not about to let her get away, Mauja first started out in a brisk trot, then quickly broke out into a flat out sprint. He darted through the trees after her, not wanting to let someone like her get away, not after all this trouble, even though it was fun. "You're gonna have to do better than that to try and get rid of me!" he called out to her as he slowly decreased the gap between them. When he finally got close enough, he reached his paws out, and, as if encroaching on prey, tackled Kweupe to the ground, returning to his earlier position of being on top of her.

Kweupe tumbled to the ground and blinked at him for a moment before breaking into a small, almost crafty smile.
"Took you long enough," she purred, her tail curling around his as she wiggled a bit beneath him. She did her best to settle herself a bit more comfortably on the ground and sighed in contentment.

"Mmmm, whatever made you think I was trying to get rid of you?" she asked in a soft, almost teasing manner. He was definitely a fun individual to spend a day with and she had no intention of leaving his company at the moment.

"Mhm." Mauja rolled his eyes, keeping a smile upon his face. "So the whole running thing, was that just to keep me interested?" He leaned his head in for emphasis. "Cause it worked."

"So what do we do now, my dear?" He kept his eyes alert, scanning the darker parts of the woods that had begun to encroach as the sun began to set. "The sun's going down and you'r stuck with the big bad wolf."

"Wolves don't scare me," Kweupe replied, her eyes narrowed. In fact, there were very few things in the world that scared her. Unlike the brother she barely remembered (The cryptic message from her nephew's kidnapper made her wonder whether Wingu had died that night with their parents or not) and probably many other creatures out there, not even great storms frightened her.

The only thing that truly scared her was losing her family again. Perhaps that was why she never settled down. Was why she left the troupe when she was of age, so that she could live with the image of them frozen in time. Was why she was so upset over Malai, Shahara, and Han leaving for the Chokwe. She couldn't protect them among the mercenaries.
But she wasn't to be thinking about that.
Especially not when she was in the very fun and amusing company of this cheetah.

"Mmmmm, and what makes you so big and bad, Mr. Wolf?" she asked, tilting her head a bit and giving him a playfully questioning look that was as smooth as her words.

Mauja flicked his tail to the side in amusement. This girl, she was fun. The most fun he'd had in awhile. Although, he half expected it, her being a cheetah and all. It was in her blood to be amazing.

"Well, you should be." His voice had a playful snarl in it, and it grew deeper as he spoke. He drew himself in close, as he had now moved to a standing position, dropping his head down near Kweupe's ear. "Because I'll eat you up."

Kweupe's eyes narrowed to slits and her paws flexed a bit against the ground as her tail-tip curled and uncurled again and again around his.
"Really now?" she asked in a low voice, her ears tilted backwards a bit.

"I've never been eaten up before. Sounds novel," she added, keeping him on his toes. In truth, she rather wondered what he was elluding to, but she wasn't about to ask. She liked surprised and mystery and this was turning out to be a really great encounter. Who knows. She might even want to keep him around for a little while.
