Okay, let me try and address all the questions.
Excited Apathy- I've answered this in thread before, but I can't remember if it was you that asked it... Female brownriders must be strictly homosexual. Also, I believe we go more towards the 9th pass sizes? Let me check it out.
Ferret- Candidates cook and clean and serve, mostly. They do the same things drudges do, and spend most of their time in the Lower Caverns. Boring, mundane things- chopping vegetables, cleaning dishes, boiling numbweed when the time of the year is right, serving the food, cleaning up after everyone, probably cleaning latrines... Anything they can foist off on 'em.
Kimie Kitty- AIVAS has failed, so there's basically none of the new technology. They found AIVAS, and it never turned on, is what we're going with, I think. So they didn't gain anything from it. But technology has advanced, in the normal scheme of things... There still isn't plastics or electricity, but they've made the technological advancements you would expect a society to make?
Gift- Yep. Sebell was black, I'm pretty sure. xD But the Pernese are so interbred that they would be... not as black? I dunno how to put it. There aren't as many distinct racial features as there used to be.

Candidates also trap tunnelsnakes in the Lower Caverns, are taught to read and write, etc. XD

What about the things that Fandarel and other smiths were working on in the 9th Pass?
Paper instead of hides, the 'distance-speaker' (telegraph), I think Wansor was working with lenses for more accurate glasses, as well as a telescope. Can we assume those are around?
What about the seeding of the Northern Continent with grubs? Successful, yes or no?
What's the status of the Southern Continent? (Is there a Weyr? A couple of Holds?)

As for race, I'm pretty sure it's like this. (You guys correct me if I'm wrong!)
*Because of interbreeding, most people are darker than Earth Caucasians but lighter than Africans. But there'd still be a significant range of variations. I've got the People of Pern book, and most of them look like tanned white people.
*As such, blonde and red hair are fairly unusual. (Kylara was considered exotic because of her long, blonde hair).

Yah, I remember the books mentioned several times how dark brown his skin was. I kind of assumed that meant he was black. xD
Telescopes are a yes, the Southern Continent has the holds and Weyr established at the end of the books... I'll get back to you on the rest. Probably a no on the paper and the telegraph... maybe a yes on the glasses?

Also, since it just came up in RP, how many years until the 10th Pass starts? The front page of the shop just says it's been "nearly 200 Turns since the momentous conclusion of the 9th Pass of the Red Star." One year? Five?

I don't think we've fully decided yet. x.x But probably near the time when the first clutch reaches it's maturity? So that's probably about a Turn away, yah. But that's something I'll have to talk to Lei about, for sure. xD

Aren't lice really small? They might... I can't remember how big lice are. o.0 But flits seem to eat just about everything so.

How much, if any of Landing is uncovered? I know that in White Dragon and AtWoP, they had uncovered several storage buildings and housing before they found the AVAIS building.

Are there such things as Pern-version swimming gear? Like... I got told that a pair of swimming trunks would not be cannon. Is this true? Since... it makes sense for swimming garb to be available especially in the tropical areas.

I may be asking a completely obvious and stupid question, but being not very adept nor clever at this, am still pretty confused and ver very hazy about everything biggrin
