Dru blinked for a few moments as his warm tounge touched her face. The smile now showing a few of her teeth because she just couldn't contain the joy she felt at that moment. It was like a warmth swept over her aching mind blanketing all the fears, anger, and whatever else might have been bothering her.
"I like this- it feels good." She mused out then continued to herself. 'Would it be too bold to ask him to be her mate? Would it be too soon since they just met?' She was equally confused what to do or ask at the moment since her last mate had been a complete and utter failure.

His tender smile showed through at her words and he nuzzled her again before giving her ears a couple affectionate nips. Backus truly was glad she liked this, that he wasn't being to bold for her. The last thing he wanted was to scare Dru off. He shifted to lay down and offered her a spot next to him.
"Lay with me, Dru...," he murmured softly. It was more of a request than a demand. The black and blue male didn't like being demanding. If she wanted to lay, she could. But she really didn't have to if she was uncomfortable with it.
"I'm sorry all of those things happened to such a nice, beautiful female such as yourself, Dru.... You deserve so much better.." He sounded like a broken record, but he hated anyone who mistreated a female.

She was abit nervous at first taking to his request. The last time she had done this was with her mate. But he had never been this tender or kind; or in the least bit inviting like Backus's voice was. After a few seconds of thinking she slowly moved her body closer to his and then lay by his side.
Ah this felt so natural and so wonderful- she should have took the invite sooner. Although the few seconds wouldn't have made a difference she chuckled mindlessly to herself.
"Your really sweet. I've never met a male like you- you know one that treated me decently. I always thought males were supposed to be cruel and unkind. But I guess I was wrong."

"I have ran into a few nasty males.... I ran from them quickly," he murmured softly, moving to look up at the sky, sighing quietly. Why there were evil wolves, he didn't know. Maybe to help with natural selection. Balancing it all out. Only the Gods knew why. Backus' brown and yellow eyes flicked back to Dru and then pressed his face into her neck with a little, almost happy, noise, smiling. "I am glad I do not live up to your last mate's standings. I do hope I'm a bit better than him," he whispered, moving to start grooming her face and muzzle, paying attention to under her eyes.
"Such a pretty coat..." This was whispered more to himself than to her, but it would still be audible to her. Then, after a few minutes of grooming her, he nuzzled their cheeks together. Backus knew this was something special right here and he didn't want to let it go.
With a hesitant sway of his tail, he'd ask the question, "...Dru.... W...Will you be my mate? I don't mean to rush into it, but... I want to protect your smile.. protect you from anything that'll make you sad."

Her ears flattened for a momentary second not at him but at the thought of her old mate. This new question flushed her first meeting with him in her head and it wasn't plesent. But as she looked into Backus's bi-colored eyes she realised that she had no reason to be afraid of him. That this was not her mate and he was an entirely different wolf.
"I would love too..." She then paused some of the color drained from her face slightly worried by what his responce would be to her next question. "What if I can't bear you puppies? Would you still want to be my mate?" Dru could only think of her first litter and how they didn't even make it out of her before they died. She hoped Backus wouldn't mind that her body probally couldn't handle another litter.

Backus watched her reaction carefully and let his own ears flatten a little. But when she answered, they went back up and he gave another wag of his tail. "....If you can not bear pups, we can adopt," he said softly. He knew of pups that wander two far from home and get lost. The couple could take in those little treasures. He wouldn't pup nap or anything. Backus truly believed he wasn't an evil wolf.
"Dru.... It'll be ok... If you do have puppies..... and none live.... I will not leave you... I would be there to make your heart better. I'll be there for you and you'll probably be annoyed at that." He tried to make a joke, but he was serious. If their relationship brought them to that point, he wouldn't leave her. He'd nurse her back to health and back into a good mindset. Then they would live the rest of their days. Because he would only have one mate.

His words calmed her insides and she thought happily about a future with him. Even without puppies he would be happy. She rested her muzzle on him and licked at him tenderly. She didn't know how much she needed those words to be happy. He would be with her no matter what.
"I'm so glad of that." She wumpfed her tail on the ground with happiness. It was probally the first time in a long while she felt happy enough to even move her tail just alittle. But this time it was wumpfhing like a rocket on the ground. This would be the beginning of something very special.

With a happy heart, he nuzzled back against her and shifted even closer to her. His tail was sounding just like Dru's was and he started to lap at her muzzle lightly, just wanting to be here with her right now. Backus needed no words to express how relieved, how happy he was and neither did she. Both of them seemed to express their feelings very well and each understood the other. With a light laugh, Backus had to turn his head and yawn.
It was getting later, and the weight of everything settled down around him like a happy cloud. "Let's... sleep here for the night. It'll be alright.."
He'd be on alert.
