At the question, Zara nodded. "They keep an eye on us Candidates and Weyrlings during them, but I've seen a couple. The queens make a big show of it, acting fierce and blooding kills. The greens tend to just hop up in the air and get started, which isn't so great to watch because they're out of sight sooner that way." She paused, deciding that was probably enough about flights unless he asked for more. They could be overwhelming, especially for Holdbred.
"I can't say the thought of being a dragonhealer hasn't occurred to me," Zara admitted, running a hand down Dievath's sleek blue hide absent-mindedly. "I've heard that as well, that a Healer can study to heal dragons as a rider. I've also heard that taking care of a young dragon can consume much of your time, though...so if I Impress, it will be some while before I return to those studies." She hadn't given the matter much serious thought, really, regarding Healing as a 'back up plan' if her dreams went awry. But she did enjoy the craft, and combining Weyr life with it would be...pleasant.

“Oh.” H’dra paused thoughtfully, considering something. “I’ve never seen one. Do you think they’ll be one while Dievath is still a weyrling, miss?” He really, really did not want to have his first experience with one be the day that his dragon tried to join in. That would be all kinds of awkward, especially if the blue didn’t catch anything. What did you do if that happened? Did all the dragons just land again and go about their business? Perhaps Zara would know. It couldn’t hurt to ask. “Not all the dragons can catch a female, right miss?”
Dievath rumbled when Zara stroked him, basking in the attention. She was very nice, this female human. He couldn’t understand why his rider didn’t know many more of them, especially if they were all this nice. In fact, he couldn’t understand why his rider didn’t know more humans in general. Zara was clearly nice and helpful, so why not want to meet all the Zaras and male Zaras out there? Clearly he was destined to help his rider with this problem.
The young bluerider made a noise of affirmation at the mention of how time-consuming caring for a dragon could be. “There’s lots of lessons. Lots of things to remember. But there’s lots of things to remember when taking care of any animal. It’s nicer when they’re dragons though, since they can talk to you and all. Ovines aren’t very talkative.” He smiled shyly as he gave Dievath’s eyeridges a scritch.

"It's more likely than not, although your Dievath probably won't be interested until he's grown enough to participate--and if he were interested in a queen then, I'd join the rest of the Weyr in thinking him touched in the head." With an apologetic smile, Zara shrugged, her eyes flickering to the blue dragonet. It wasn't a personally meant statement by any means, but a gold-chasing blue would have to be crazy. "Bronzes fly queens, sometimes browns...but never blues. They all fly greens, though."
Her brow quirked. "Ovines, huh? No, I don't suppose they would be. And if it's going to be my dinner, I rather like it that way."

"He's definitely not touched in the head, miss," H'dra replied in a slightly protective tone. He had never been the type to mind anyone taking a shot at him. Most of the time, the words were probably true. Talking about his dragon, however, was something that he found made him surprisingly defensive. There was nothing wrong with Dievath. Still, politeness dictated that he mind his manners, no matter what the situation. "I just wanted to see one, that's all miss. We've already been told by our Weyrlingmaster not to do anything like Flights or that other intimate stuff until they're older."
'I promise to be on best behaviour!' Dievath said, hoping to soothe his rider. 'Just remind me about it, okay?'' he added, knowing that he would probably forget this promise in a day or two. Still, it was the thought that counted, right?
He gave a soft chuckle at the mention of dinner. "Well, it would be a little weird to have talking dinner. Some of the Holders like it so rare it's practically still bleating." The bluerider made a face. "Definitely not healthy like that, miss. Ovines are meant to be cooked."

Zara raised her hand, waving H'dra off in a placating gesture. "Easy there, I know he isn't. Bad choice of words, I guess...any blue that chased a queen would be thought that way, that's all I meant. Dievath seems very sane, and he's definitely sweet." Smiling as she glanced at the blue, she nodded at him for emphasis. "You'll definitely get a chance to see one before you're a full rider. It can mess with people's heads a little though, so be careful if you sneak out to watch."
Her mouth quirked as well, this time. "Yeah...raw and chewy isn't my idea of meat. Doesn't taste right, and people aren't meant to eat it that way. Dragons and animals, yes. People, no."

'I am glad that she likes me. She is a very nice girl.' The blue seemed quite pleased with himself, and rightfully so in his opinion. This meeting was going very well for his rider. Soon they would have so many friends that even H'dra wouldn't be able to remember them! He couldn't wait until that day.
H'dra simply nodded his head at her advice, making a mental note to ask F'sey about it. The rider would be able to confirm what Zara was saying, from what he hoped was personal experience. Ialluth must be old enough to have Risen a couple of times by now. Still, having to ask them would be embarrassing. Perhaps he would just wait until his blue was old enough.
"I hope that nobody asks the kitchen staff to prepare their meat like that here, otherwise the Healers will be seeing a lot of people." If he hadn't thought it impolite, he would have gone and warned the kitchen staff himself. But, as he firmly reminded himself, nobody went around telling him how to care for his dragon that didn't have the authority to do so, and so he shouldn't go around telling other people how to do their job. It was just rude.
Turning her attention back to his dragon, he gave his side a final scrub before he deemed it clean. "Alright, Dievath, rinse please." H'dra took a couple steps backwards to allow the dragon to dunk himself. The blue sank under the water and then shot off the bottom to emerge with a triumphant splash.
'All clean! Can we go sun now?'
After giving Dievath's eye ridges a scratch, H'dra turned and bowed to Zara. "Thank you for your help, Miss Zara. Dievath is going to sun now, so we have to be on our way. We enjoyed your company very much though, miss!"
