Matthia thought a moment. "Well. I am rather fond of the works of Mary Cassatt." he said, tapping his chin. "As for one piece of work that is my favorite, well, that is rather hard to say. There are so many wonderful artworks out there. I've read Tolkien's work; most interesting, I must say."

Nataya smiled, nodding as she held up the bag of fluffy white goodness. She grabbed some of the crackers and a couple candy bars. After all, you couldn't make smores without them, could you? She sat on one of the log benches that were placed around the fire.

Ginger climbed up the bench next to Nataya, taking a seat. "Make nummies now?" she asked, grinning. She's seen Mommy make the crunchy gooey things early; the looked delicious! And they had chocolate!

Zemel looked up at his sister, raising his arms slightly. He wanted to sit with Big Sister, too! He smiled as his sister lifted him up into her lap, clapping his hands together. "Cook now?" he asked, looking up at her.

'Zuba had slunk back out of the house and was sitting on the bench across the fire from Nataya, busy roasting a hot dog.

"Mary Casatt?" Risa repeated. "I've never heard of her. I'm sure Thali has some of her works, I'll be sure to read them." She paused and smiled. "I don't have a favorite work of art either." All art, whatever was beautiful, pleasent, cheerful. Those were her favorites. She didn't know if she and Matth would get along on that subject. "You know Tolkien? Do you have a favorite character?"

Joshua could only frown as Ginger sat next to Nattie. That was his spot! He couldn't say that, because that would make him look childish. So, reluctantly, he took a spot beside 'Zuba.

Matthias chuckled, amused. "She was a painter, not a writer." he explained, smiling lightly. "And I'd have to say my favorite character would have to be Golem. He's the most interesting."

Nataya blinked, noticing the frown. What was wrong? She absently stuck the marshmallows onto the metal prongs for Ginger and Zemel, her mind analyzing the recent events. Nothing bad had happened, right? Still... She sighed. How was she supposed to make it better if she didn't know what was wrong?

Ginger leaned against her sister, tentatively sticking the marshmallow closer to the fire. This was how it was done, right? Well, that's how Zemel was doing, and Zemel knew everything when it came to food in her opinion, so it had to be.

Ah, an artist! No wonder Risa had been confused. She blushed slightly, embarassed that she'd made a mistake. How she wanted to impress him. "I'll look for her paintings, then." Risa amended. "Gollum, huh? Pippin was always my favorite." He wasn't the most interesting character, but he had a fun personality. She liked that. "Oh, and Sam."

Joshua took a marshmellow, and stuck it onto his prong. He held it close to the fire so it would get soft. He had to make sure it didn't get too black. It had to be just the right shade of brown.

Matthias listened, nodding once. He was polite; he didn't voice the extreme loathing he felt towards Pippin. Pippin was annoying, in his opinion, and utterly useless as anything more than comic relief. But, it would have been rude to say that, so he followed the old saying: "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all."

Nataya barely toasted hers; just enough to get it a bit gooey and for the edges to be tinged with a golden-brown hue. She pulled out one of the graham crackers, cracking it in half before sticking the marshmallow on it. She then continued to construct her smores, breaking out one of the chocolate bars. Hopefully, a certain little girl wouldn't eat this one.

Ginger let out a small squeal as her marshmallow caught fire. She lifted her marshmallow-stick higher, shaking a bit. Unfortunately, the marshmallow fell off into the fire, quickly consumed by the flames. She let out a little sniffle; she lost her nummies!

Zemel's was a bit burnt, but it would be better than nothing. He pulled his off, looking at it a moment before holding it out. "Here, siss-ter, no cry." he said, offering a smile as he held out the gooey treat.

Risa frowned slightly, silence again? She must have said something wrong. "...So tell me about your favorite author." She said. "And if you aren't..." She paused, feeling awkward. "If you're not busy next weekend, there's supposed to be a meteor shower.. You're probably watching it with someone else." She blushed slightly, before turning her attention to her nephew.

Joshua now had a perfectly golden marshmellow, and had seen what Zemel had done with his. He offered it to his friend. "Here," He said with a smile. "I'll make another one."

The dark-haired fairy shrugged. "I really don't have a personal favorite; just authors that I like and authors I do not." he explained. He blinked, listening to her. "Are you attempting to ask me out?" he asked, as blunt as ever. After all, why ask circumlocutory questions when it was much simpler to just ask what you meant to ask?

Ginger grinned, taking the toasty treat. "Fank you! You the best brudder in the WHOLE world!" She said, accenting her words by spreading her arms out wide, showing how much she meant before leaning over to hug her twin. She offered him a bright smile before nomming on the blackened marshmallow.

Zemel smiled as Josh offered him a yummy looking marshmallow. "Thank you, Josh!" he said, smiling brightly. Now they both had marshmallows! Perfect! He took a bite into it, yelping as it burnt him. Why was it when people offered him food, it had to be mean? He frowned at the gooey treat before taking a bite out of it quickly; revenge!

Nataya looked at her smores momentarily before holding the traditional bonfire snack out to Josh. "Here; you can have it." she said, smiling brightly. He'd been nice enough to give Zemel his treat; it was the least she could do. Besides, making them was fun, so she didn't mind starting over.

Risa blushed, she didn't know what to say. If she did ask him out, what if he said no? "Well, I suppose I am.. If you want me to be.. Um. It's okay if you say no though." She offered him a bright smile, but she was lying through her teeth. She knew if he said no, she wouldn't be able to get over it for a couple days.

Joshua smiled at Nattie, and took the pro-offered treat. "Thank you!" He said happily. He took a bite. Mmm. Marshmellowy goodness.

Matthias offered a faint smile. "I will have to think about it, Risa...." he said, being as gentle about it as he could. Yes, in the end he would probably say no...but flat out saying that would be rather rude in his opinion. Then again, giving her a false ray of hope would be worse. Little did he know that Stasia was listening in on the whole thing...

Nataya smiled brightly at the nut cracker. "You're welcome!" she said, glad he was happy. She then began the smores-making process all over again; she'd probably end up giving the next ones to her siblings before actually making some for herself.

Well, that was as close to no as no could be. Risa heaved an inward sigh. She gave him a smile, and a nod before standing up to get a marshmellow. She took Josh's spot next to 'Zuba, and his prong. She stuck the marshmellow on it, imagining it was something expensive--that belonged to Thali. Oh, she'd take revenge.

Joshua had also heard the entire thing, and he could only shake his head at Matth. Why didn't adults understand? They were meant to be together.

Matthias blinked as she moved; what? He'd been close to honest. Ah well, more bench for him then, he supposed. He got up to get a hot dog and, after nabbing a set of the prongs, started roasting it. He'd been polite and courteous, as far as he was concerned, so he felt no reason to feel guilty.

Nataya blinked as Risa moved, wondering if something had happened between the adults. She'd been too caught up in their conversation to really eavesdrop on the adults. She noticed Momma shaking her head at Matthias; had he done something wrong?

Joshua frowned, the only available seat, besides one next to Stasia, was by Matth. So there he sat, looking at the adult. "You could have said yes." He muttered, before his attention went back to his marshmellow. "I don't see why you didn't."

Risa's marshmellow was on fire by now, but she didn't really seem to care. She was too focused on destroying one of Thali's prized books. Argh. Princesses. The fae assumed her friend had pretended to be sick so she'd go.

Matthias blinked, looking at the child. "I do not think that is of your concern, young one." he said, frowning. This little boy was joking, right? He shook his head, focusing his attention on cooking.

Nataya blinked, watching as Risa burned the marshmallow. She seemed upset, so she offered her the freshly made smores. "Here, Miss Risa. For you." she said, holding the treat out to the woman. Smores always made people smile, right? Of course, which is exactly why Arisa needed on right about now.

Joshua sighed. Adults were all the same. Entirely....dense. His parents weren't this stupid. "Well. Next time you talk to her, try not to make her cry?" He muttered with a shrug. He'd seen the tear on Risa's face, and though he knew she'd prefer for him to think it was from the smoke, he knew better.

Risa took a smore, thanked Nataya with a smile and a sniffle, and set it carefully onto her lap. She didn't feel like eating at the moment, but later, she would be grateful for it.

Matthias looked at Josh; how in the hell had he made her cry? He sighed, shaking his head; this is what he got for being polite. He'd been nice; what had he done wrong?

Nataya blinked, looking at Risa. "What's wrong?" she asked, tilting her head to the side. She didn't want their guest to be sad, so she decided it would be her personal mission to make her happy. She'd do everything in her power to accomplish her goal, too.
