It was to be expected. These days, threats like these are just ingenious plans by computer companies to boost up their rep as well as a great opportunity for them to sell some anti-virus software for a bug that won't be as devastating as what it seemed to be at first. In the end, we were all fooled and the guys who bought anti-virus software got grained of their money. Happy after-April Fools Day, everyone.

MockaDash April's fool anyone? Wasn't it obvious? It doesnt effect Macs Tad, and hey Dumb Nuts. The virus is real. Don't assume things, just because it was april fool's, doesn't mean its always a joke.

Yes... Cannible Zombies do indeed exist... that's besides the point, this thread is slowly becoming a Nuclear Missile... that with enough rage shall take off and burst in the sky, causing this guild to be ininhabitable by human life for 35 years by my calculations. So... some of us may DIE from the radiation before we can come back.

OK people. The Conficker worm is real. And you're right Thanatos, it affects Windows OS only. Several versions of this worm have been around from 2008 I think, and it's believed to be the most infectious one.
Nevertheless the date is meaningless people. Some specialist argue that Conficker may seek "new instructions" to spread itself from millions of sites. But that could happen or not. And it could be on April 1st as well as April 11th or any other day for that matter.
Don't bother yourselves with this. As long as you have a decent anti-virus and firewall, and most important in this cases an updated windows patch you should be fine. Also, use a script blocker.
Hardware don't last long enough for us to fret about software.
