San nodded at his words, first a little grave -yes what CAN we do about it-, then pleasant again. Yes, of course they're fun, if used well. Like you do. When Wit lifted off, he first went a little o-mouthed again, but soon he was biting his lower lip to keep from slipping into a string of snickersnorts that surely wouldn't end within the next minute. Also he didn't want to look like he was having a mocking laugh at Wit's expense either. The result was a gleeful mixture of discretion and clumsily hidden amusement.

Diego could at least afford to let out some genuine laughter without having to fear derailing into something less civilised, chuckling when Wit was safely down again and started playing with San's hair.

The gunslinger let him have his fun, greatly enjoying himself as well, snickering almost cutely at the friendly yanking and reflexively turtling into his collar a little. "I think it's to be my best day of the month too, year maybe." he giggled, sounding quite honest.
"A day I'd never want to forget." again that slight mood shift back into more melancholic waters, with that soft fondness in his voice. If he had to he wouldn't sleep for three days to try and remember every bit of this. Ah, he was still smiling, it only failed to reach all the way, leaving an odd gleam in his warm brown eyes. There was no doubt he'd already begun to transcribe Wit in the mysterious deep reaches of his memory labelled 'amices'. And while it might be true he lacked any subtle means of protecting those close to him, he would do give it all he had to do just that.

He peeped up when Diego retrieved that odd trinket out of nowhere, tutted his lips when he tried to identify what it was.

Diego handed it over, pleased he'd done another good deed. "There you go.
Ah, good of his partner to have found it, losing things was never a nice experience, one he knew all too well. Heck, there was a reason why the spare housekeys were attached to a chain that was securely linked into the inner of his coat. Leaving it 'under the doormat' had proved to lead to more confusion than it was worth, as San kept forgetting it was there, or because it had somehow ended up in another hiding spot altogether.
Either way, neither he nor Diego ever wanted to find him locked out again, as that usually meant he bust in through the back door. Poor back door.

"It clicks?" How mysterious.

"It's a pedometer San, it's made to count how many steps you've taken." Diego chuckled.

"......" a contemplative silence followed. He had trouble keeping count of his own often, but that was just games, why would anyone defeat the purpose of the game? Oh well, the world's no saner than he himself was. He left it at that with a positive hum. m-MM, okay :3
"Ola Wit, whoses is this Dwee-person?" he smiled again, showing a genuine interest. If he gave Wit things, presents, he surely must be nice.

Diego gave a nod, showing he too was interested in this.

Wit studied his new friend for a long moment, expression sobering as he watched the changes of emotion on San's face, and the blond's lower lip protruded just slightly in a pout as he noticed the sadness. Clearly this one had...quite a story to tell, if he were keen on doing suchly, but like Wit, he was very very likely that he had no desire to do any such thing. Some secrets were just best kept after all.

"Is to be being good, over for tea, youses must come sometimeses, yesly? This one insists! Mayhap in week-like? Two? Whenevers is good, youses must come!" Mental note, give them his cell phone number later, Dwee simply could not be trusted for such things, as Wit had discovered. The butler meant well, but sometimes was a little wary of Wit's 'friends'. "Yeses, Pedometer-eater-liter." He trilled happily, sticking it in his pocket before he forgot it again, as there were more important things to tend to now. Friends, after all, took precedence over the gleeful little clickety noise any day, as entertaining as that clickety noise might be.

"Dwee is to being Dweian Auray, is Wit's oldest friendlike and butler-nanny person, he supposes. Looks after the Witling, he is also to be being manager of the house." There was a moment of thought, brow scrunching thoughtfully, "Is also to be being very funlike to shootses with paintballses." A wicked grin there. Oh yes, he'd have to show San his paintball maze.

Ah, indeed. A vague parallel, though Wit kept his past locked away more consciously then San. It's hard to keep a secret you don't remember the content of. If he could recall his early past, he'd probably have no qualms about telling a good friend though.
The little low in spirits quickly soared again when Wit made his proposal though.

“You're... inviting us?” ...you'd almost start believing he's just offered them a free two-months cruise. The gunner looked absolutely thrilled.
“That's.. wow, I.. I...” just narrowly not flailing about for words, he glanced at Diego, who gave him a friendly nod. “WE would LOVE to come over sometime!” That's some highest quality glee right there. He was pretty much quivering with delight already. Ooh, the sweet taste of anticipation.

Diego looked pleased too, and he chuckled at San's obvious excitement. “Ah... unless San's taking you hostage for the next days, I suppose we'll need to stay in touch by traditional means, I suppose?” he rhetorically asked Wit.
“If you can hang onto this...” he reached into his back pocket, slipped out a business card and presented it to Wit. “Cell, telephone, e-mail, you got it all right there.” There you go. He'd asked a layouter in town to make this for him once, in exchange for fixing a regurgitating toilet in the dead of night once. It really paid off to have these with him at all times, either for formal contacts or people who needed to settle a score after having been grieved by the gunner's antics.

Or new friends, of course. Those were much rarer.

“I'll see to it we invite you to our place sometime in return, hm.” he smiled, and San continued to wobble like an overly happy feline, nodded. Yes, we should.

“Diego's MY housekeeper, he's awesome goodsly at it!”
San giggled, and Dee could've facepalmed. Aww San. “But he's not my nanny.” grin. Nope. “... not a butler either, that'd be mean. O.o No, Dee's my partner, and I'm his.” yee! He wasn't off-put by the notion Wit's friend didn't appear to be counted as entirely equal in position, for some reason it didn't sound so strange.
And then, the attention shifted entirely.

“Paintball? …like, shooting? Aiming?”
ooohohoho, watch that giddy smirk pull over his fangs mischievously. “I think I could do that, yesly. I is to be being rather apt with it.” ah, for once he wouldn't be too modest. Of course, handling a gun that shoots paint wouldn't be the same as using his own pistols, but that'd defeat the purpose of the game and lead to very undesirable conclusions. Ahem.

Wit could see that his invitation had garnered the expected result, and he wiggled his toes inside his shoes, practically purring for joy. He had a distinctive lack of proper friends, especially ones he felt comfortable enough with to invite them into the place that he considered home. However, even on short acquaintance, he rather thought he could trust San and Diego in the way he trusted the just as cheerful Shadow.

"Yes! The Wit is to be invitingses." He twittered, cocking head like a curious bird when Diego offered him the card. Feigning seriousness quite obviously, he then took the card betwixt his fingertips, tucking the slip of paper away almost ceremoniously in his front pocket. "This one will to be being telling Dwee right away-like, also to be putting number in Wit's phoneses." Mind you, Wit's phones tended to be somewhat short-lived, for one reason or another, leaving him with a poor battered sim card with no home to call its own.

"Wit would loooooooooooooove-like to come-come over to see youses too! Twould be loverly!" An overjoyed explosion of words, rolling off of his tongue almost too quickly to be distinguished one from the other. He never was invited over to other people's houses...it just didn't happen. Wit, after all, had just a slight tendency to be a walking hazard.

"Yes yes!" Now they were on one of his favorite topics, one that quite eclipsed any further discussion of butlers and housekeepers. Clapping his hands together, he then steepled them together in a sort of conniving glee. "Wit is to be having whole maze for it like. Dwee plays with this one sometimes, but not always! Youses must play with Wit! He is to be being pretty good!" He gave the other a playful smirk, issuing a sort of challenge for the other. Ah-ha! Another, and likely more entertaining, paintball foe!

Dee nodded at his decision to store the number somewhere. Those cards were fickle things that liked hiding in all kinds of places, even if you weren't particularly forgetful. "Grand idea that is."

Ah, the walking hazard subtype of happy people. Diego hardly minded, after all he lived with San. Their neighbours often wondered how it was possible he even let the rascal into his self-constructed home, neat and cleanly and practical. Spacious too.
Whatever Wit could do, he'd be able to fix. As long as he didn't try to rival 'that one morning' where San'd managed to dislodge both the toilet and the shower water cables, things would be juuust fine.

Both him and San were happy to find their return-invitation was received well, and the gunner again writhed with joy.

San grinned deeper, almost like a devious-evil smirk, but definitely lightened by the twinkles of amusement in his eyes.
"A maaaaaze..." an intrigued whisper, and he squinted a little, cattishly please by the idea. "I never dids something like that before, but it soundses muchly awesome." Yees, this was a very acceptable offer. he almost scared himself by feeling so eager, he wasn't violent or anything. The idea was utterly tantalising though.

"Paint-gunses, they have clips? Revolving ammunition holder? Response time good? How much do they weigh?"
ah, now he was back to asking questions, open and eager to learn the answers.
"Hoo, wow, easy there sunny-boy." Diego looked up at him, not sure if he had to hold him back or encourage him now. San might've forgotten already, but usually, weapons were a bit of a touchy topic in general society.

Wit was, generally, well-behaved when he was a guest, the problem was that once within his own home, or when he was particularly comfortable somewhere he tended to get carried away. Diego didn't have to fear for his home for the first...few visits anyway. It helped that Wit was a bit more in control of his mind than most gave him credit for.

Steepling fingers together in a manner reminiscent of a plotting villian, he nodded slowly, a positively wicked grin spreading across the blond's features. "Oh indeedlie, is to be being awesomeses. Wit is to be being very fond of paintball, and so Dwee-dearie said that this one should be to be makingses a room just for it." Laughing softly, he seemed, for a moment, nothing more than a naughty child. "Was to be being a bigger room than he thoughtlike." And indeed, Dweian had been less than happy to discover the massive, once-grand room had now been turned into yet another playground for a grown man possessed with all the curious inclinations of a six-year-old.

"Paint-gunses are to be being very different. Different sizes, weights, types, capabilities...if San is to be being interested, youses should find one youses wantlike and the Wit will be getting it."
He, after all, had the money to spare, and though Dwee would likely scold him, the man was becoming less vexed with Wit's unpredictable expenditures, and had ceased to ask why he ran up charges for things like water balloons and powdered sugar.

"Ah, this cat can handle any gun you have compadre." San couldn't help smirking like he'd just eaten the canary himself. "I'm curious muchies to learn how such a painty-ball gun behaves itself. Tame it I shall!" he almost threw himself over backwards to descend into derailed giggles, luckily catching himself on the sides of the bench before he actually crashed though.
"... I'm not going to let my two buddies spout paint though." blink. That'd be too weird, AND disrespectful to them.

"I suppose we agree on this, then? We'll come to visit you sometime, and you'll come see us sometime in return?" Diego summarised, finding it to be quite a while after lunchtime already, and he couldn't afford lingering much longer. "I really don't mean to spoil the fun, but we have places to go, especially if San doesn't want to go hungry." he didn't sound pushy and kept his gentle smile, but San knew that if he decided it was time to mention this, it was for a good reason.

"... could we take Wit?" sad-pouty meep. Getting pulled back to business while they were having such a grand time, not fun this was.

"If you want to come I won't stop you, but I'll let you know that where we're going it's probably not a very interesting place." Dee glanced from San to Wit.

"Building site, they always joke about tying me to a streetlamp so I don't trip over things so much." Somehow that didn't sound much like a joke, more like the workers had actually threatened to resort to such measures. "Dee's a carpenter and other things, he works hard."

"Well no..." Wit agreed, "Twould not to be being properlike if thee were to be making bullet-guns shoot paintballses." In his personal opinion, that would turn the world upside-down, and his world was crazy enough as it was without disturbing the natural order of things. Nope, paintballs would continue to be reserved for the paintball guns. Not that Wit didn't have a veritable arsenal already.

"Yes! And the Wit is definitely to be coming to visit. A call I will be giving you, yes?" And as Diego pointed out the time, Wit wrinkled his nose, pouting a bit. Goodness, but it was getting late, and Dweian was likely crazy with worry already, it was a wonder he hadn't called, but he supposed that his butler had simply assumed that Wit was late...again. Really, he was mean to the other, but not purposefully.

Gnawing at his lower lip, he really and truly did want to go with his new friends, but finally, he shook his head, "This one would be going with youses, but...Dwee is to be making lunchses, and is likely already upset with this one." A beleaguered sigh, "So this one cannot to be coming." A nearly broken-hearted wibble followed his words. Snatching San, Wit gave his new friend a grand hug, eyeing Diego over the other's shoulder, "Not to be tying San to street-lamps!" He ordered in an authoritative fashion, "Streetlamps are to be being for puppies! San is not to be being a puppy!"

Glee, they agreed on the guns-do-not-spout-paint-ammo issue. Any argument about the topic might've lead to other craziness quickly.

"That'd be uberly awesome ya."
San grinned at Wit's words. Even if it involved phones, for a friend he could master them... temporarily.

"As long as youses don't get in trouble now, it's okay. I really hope Dwee-dee won't be mad at you..." He'd have preferred it if he could've stayed with the fae a little longer, but the situation seemed to demand a split. It was just the smartest thing to do, and seriously... Building sites were boo~riiing. "Aaah, we'll meet again eh, don't be sad." With a little sad smile he tried to cheer the other up, and then, yoink!

"Ola! ..."
whoah, what where... Whoah.

Diego couldn't help crack a wide smile at the sight, and nodded. "Of course I won't... And I won't let anyone else wrong him either, no worries, Wit." It's what I do, friend.

At the remark about puppies, San began giggling lightly. "Woof." Snicker. "No, I's not a puppy, I'll behave. You behave too hmm." He returned the hug firmly, with all warmth and energy he could give his new companion. At least he knew when to let go, and relinquished Wit back to freedom a moment later.

"I'll miss you."
Grin. Aww.
PostPosted: Fri May 15, 2009 3:31 pm

"If the Dwee is to be being mad, he will be getting over it shortly. Does not stay mad at the Wit for long, he does not. No indeedlies." Grinning like a loon, the blond man released the other, and nodded more politely to Diego. Ah yes, the two were most assuredly friends now...and Wit was already plotting how to arrange things for their little get-together.

The grin shrank back to a normal smile, and he waved at the both of them. "This one will to be missing youses too. We will both be behaving today, yes yesly." Ah, and now it was time to go, not a thing he wanted to be doing, and reluctance seemed to adhere his feet to the ground. Oh! Wait! Digging the pedometer out of his pocket, he leaned down to clip it to one of his shoes, and then, tossing a salute at the both of them, he headed off with another merry wave, "Be keeping safe! This one shall see thee again shortly!"

And with that, Wit strode off, the pedometer happily clicking out each one of the halfbreed's steps, making the way home, as well as the separation from new friends, just a bit less painful.
