She laughed and nodded at him to go ahead, thinking it sweet that he wanted to do this for her--them. At least it would give her a little bit of a break from hunting. You never really knew how tiring it could be unless you did it for a day or so straight. Then it was really exhausting.
Omoa wasn't in a good position to watch the entire kill, but she could hear and see anything taller than the high grasses around them. She giggled at the flop of a body, imagining Hadaya tackling the poor animal to get it to stay still. And then she smelled the body, getting closer and closer until he had dragged it out right in front of her.
She grinned up at him, delighted, and bumped her head against his shoulder in quick thanks. "It looks delicious, thank you! I think it will feed us both pretty well. It's a big zebra." She lowered her nose to the kill and eyed it. "Would you like to do the honors?"

Hadaya blinked, not exactly knowing what the honors were. He was still a bit puffed and he shook his head, swallowing hard in order to get some words to come out of his mouth.
"That's okay, you can eat first. I heard your stomach," he took a breath, "and you seem more hungry than I am. Plus, I don't think I can swallow right now."
He was surprised a vision hadn't assailed him during the hunt, but was thankful for it not happening. He drew a breath in through his nose, letting it out through his mouth, his tongue lulling out as he panted. He was smiling, mouth open, and looked like a bit of a goon.
"The thing almost kicked me in the face. I wonder if you would have recognized me without my head on my shoulders," he laughed, clearly relieved that this hadn't actually happened to him.

Omoa glared at him half-heartedly for mentioning her talkative tummy but sliced through the zebra skin with a claw before beginning to sift around in the meat for the best parts.
"Thanks. Do you need some water to help swallow? There's a little pool really close to where we are now." Her head tilted in the direction of the pool; she had passed it on her way over to him earlier. It was a pretty decent-sized pool, really. They could probably go swimming in it after they ate if they felt like it. To clean up.
She looked up at him and laughed at the expression on his face. "I don't know if I would have been able to recognize you, no. Faces are important things. Though, you might have been wandering around without a head. I would have had to come and find your head and then stick it back on for you," she joked.
"I would have been sad, though, if a zebra kicked your head off."

"I know I definitely would be sad about it," he said, laughing through his teeth as he brought his tongue in and flashed a grin. He sighed, feeling a bit better, and shook his head, "no, I think I'm okay."
He smiled, waiting for her to eat a bit before joining. He chewed on a leg, first remembering to remove some of the fur. Last time he tried this he was spitting on fur awkwardly because he had been in the company of a stranger and forgot the basic principals of eating food successfully.
Now that he was comfortable, however, he wasn't so eager to make himself look like an idiot. He ate like he would if he were alone, though tried not to be quite so messy. That would just be rude.
"I'm glad I found you again," he said thoughtfully, "or you found me. Either way, I don't really have the best luck with keeping friends, except for Sinasina and my family in the pride. You're different though, and. Uh. I don't know." He lost himself while he was talking, looking down at the ground and chewing to distract himself.

"If you think you're okay," she replied, lifting her head from the zebra with a bit of red on her muzzle. Omoa tried to be polite and tidy when she ate, but sometimes, she just couldn't be clean all the time.
Her ears perked up and she smiled at him again. "I'm glad I found you again, too. It's tough to find friends we met when we were little. We move with our families and can't keep in touch...It's hard. I'm surprised, really, that you remembered me." She laughed, tongue slipping out to smooth her muzzle.
"But, I am glad."
After a while, after she had eaten a good amount of food and had filled up on the zebra (deliciously fresh, by the way), she sat back and stretched out to lay on the ground for a moment. "Mm, now it's time for a nap or something lazy..."

Hadaya ate his fill and tried to hide his face when he burped. Blinking, looking up from under his paw, he knew his attempt to hide had only really made it more obvious. Putting his paw down, he sighed and smiled. He had managed to clean the blood of his muzzle and paws pretty well, standing and stretching. He padded around the remains to sit down beside Omoa.
It was a bit of a braver move than he was used to. His general rule of thumb was not to be within contact range of someone, lest he do something stupid and hurt them in some way, or in case he was smelly that day. He wasn't a fan of either situation. But today he felt he smelled just fine, and Omoa was his friend. He wanted to sit next to her, and he was sleepy from his meal.
There was nothing wrong with napping beside a friend.
He yawned mightily, stretching his back paws before he settled down, his clews digging in and out of the earth peacefully. He put his head down, sitting close enough that if she wanted she could lean on him while they napped.
"I think that's a good idea. Lazy is nice..." he said, already drifting off. He knew when they woke up they would have to part ways, but for now, sitting next to her, he wasn't thinking about that. He dozed off, smiling because today had been a good day.
