{I understand, so no worries. ^^}

The filly cheered along, rearing up a little into the air as she laughed happily at their triumph, "We sure did! Now Mr creature is able to go home!" Turning her head to look at the mare, Brioso added with a grin, "And its thanks to you for spotting it just now!" The poor thing would have been lonely the whole night if they hadn't helped him up, allowing it to return from where it came from.

"Although I do wonder what it is..." She added as an after thought.

Alyssum nodded, some of her glee melting into her brand of seriousness. "Well, you have to keep your eyes open. The other animals and the plants... they can't always look after themselves. That's when you have to step in and help. But sometimes..." She paused, her tail swishing in thought as she contnued, "Sometimes it isn't as obvious as this. That's where the whole look out idea comes from."

When Brioso mused aloud, the older mare's purple eyes focused in thought, her face furrowing forwar slightly. What it was? Well, it was an animal, though not like anything she'd ever seen before. And it waddled. And it had rough skin. And a shell. Brightening, she lifted her head and announced her opinion triumphantly, "I think it's a giant walking pecan."

Partially adapting to the mare's sudden seriousness and partially because the topic of 'helping others' was mentioned, Brioso's ears perked up in alert. She tilted her head a little as she listened to the mare, her eyes widening slightly as she nodded now and then, as if agreeing with Alyssum's words. Then, when she was done speaking, the filly let out a bright smile followed by a nod, "I'll keep that in mind!"

However, the older Soquili's next sentence threw Brioso off guard, and for a moment, she didn't know how to react. Instead, she found herself rooted to the spot, staring at Alyssum with her mouth slightly open. Slowly, she regained her composure, blinking before looking uncertain, "Well... I don't think it is one..." She frowned, shaking her head slowly, "I think a giant walking pecan is just... Too... Weird."

Although she was still young and rather creative in her own ways, her imagination only goes as far as heroes, adventures and damsels-in-distress were concerned.

Alyssum blinked in return, unconciously mimicking the foal as she tilted her head. "Why not? It's brown and black, has a hard shell, and was under a tree. It's just like all other pecans except... bigger. And it can walk. Makes sense to me."

Stretching her legs out, the mare grabbed a mouthful of clover before straightening up with a smile. "At any rate, time to go to the cold, cold water, yes? Then you'll know kind of what snow's like, and when winter comes again it won't shock you."

"I guess what you said makes sense..." Brioso replied with a giggle; Alyssum's description of the creature they just saved really does bring about the image of a giant walking pecan. However, maybe she should ask Grencia about this when she meets up with him later; after all, he is her wise teacher, so he'll probably know.

At the mare's next sentence, Brioso perked up almost immediately. Prancing around Alyssum, the filly nodded happily as she grinned, "Oh, yes!" With all that excitement a moment ago, she had almost forgotten why she had came here in the first place - to experience what snow is sort of like!

Alyssum barely acknowledged the foal's excitment, not because she was ignoring the younger Soquili, but because she had taken off in the direction of the stream. Her cream tail swished behind her as she plunged forward with glee; she hadn't had this much fun of an adventure in a long time. She felt so much older, wiser... for the first time she had to teach something to someone. It felt... good, not just because it made her feel smart, but because she had a chance to give back. After all... other Soquili had been patient enough with her. She felt like she had a duty to do the same.

Her ears pricked up at the sound of water, and she whinnied as she trotted from the muddy bank and into the freezing water. It lapped up around her ankles and made her shudder, giving a toss of her mane as she continued to wade in. The mare wanted to make sure that the current wasn't too strong or the water too deep for Brioso to come into. Satisified after her own explorations, she looked up with a glint in her violet eyes. "Come on in - it should be fine!"

When the older Soquili had taken off almost suddenly, the filly stood where she was and threw her head back in a happily chuckle. Rearing up an inch into the air, she turned and ran after her new friend, a grin plastered onto her face; she was not only excited, but happy that she had been able to meet Alyssum and go on an adventure with her... Helping the 'giant walking pecan' was a plus!

When they had finally reached their destination, Brioso didn't really wait for the mare's cue; the moment she was at the bank, she had stuck a leg into the water to test it, the water reaching a little above her hoof. Although she didn't feel anything much at first, Brioso soon realized that the water was making the submerged part of her leg numb - it felt uncomfortable yet fascinating at the same time.

At Alyssum's 'invitation', the filly nodded and trotted into the water. The moment all four of her legs were in the stream, she found herself shivering slightly from the sudden cold. Turning her head to look at the mare, she giggled, "So this is how it feels like to walk through snow! Its like a cold wind is blowing non-stop... A little numbing too!"

Alyssum waded her way towards the blue foal, glad that the her blue coat was dark enough to stand out against the running water. At Brioso's words, she nodded, shivers still trembling down her coat. "And it gets worse because the wind can be blowing too, and then you get even colder because you're wet. I dunno why, but being wet makes you colder."

She snorted as she moved her hooves, uncomfortable with the squishy mud that provided her only footing. She frowned in thought, focusing her eyes forward in heavy concentration. Was she forgetting something? Did she not mention something to the younger mare that she wanted to? Winter was pretty far away... but still, knowledge was always good. She lifted her blazed head as her memories solidified. "Snow is kinda crunchy under your hooves. And you can't get buried in it because it'll numb you, just like the water does. So it's kinda dangerous. But it's shiny too. Really pretty, but not as good as flowers. Too cold... much, much too cold. And it kills all the plants!

"Snow sounds nasty," The filly replied with a slight frown, blinking as she shivered; if the water's coldness was only affecting part of her legs and she was already feeling rather uncomfortable, she wondered what it would be like to be surrounded by the cold... At the thought, Brioso shivered again, this time due to her imagination rather than at the cold. She looked up at the mare, "But at least the plants come back after its gone, right?"

She had never seen snow, convinced that it went after before she emerged from her basket; there were flowers blooming, and leaves growing when she went exploring after she could walk. From her investigation with her very first friend, Lamb, she knew they grew after it became warmer... The filly grinned, giving Alyssum a happy nod, "The plants will always come back, I'm sure of it! At least, if this snow thing is really that bad, I can always look forward to when its warmer!"

Alyssum nodded, and had she any less confidence, the smile on her face would have been described as... sheepish. "They come back, yeah, but when the snow first came, I didn't know what was going on. I was scared that the plants were being killed off for no reason, and I didn't like it. I was so happy when the flowers came, and the trees weren't all brown and wilty."

Which was a bit of an understatement. She had been frustrated and frightened to the point of screaming a challenge to the world, a challenge answered by that old goat that had talked her down until she had slunk away, heavy-hearted and unsure as to how she had gotten that way. Alyssum had tried to stand up to him, had tried to show him he was wrong, but nothing she said had mattered. But... well, no reason to tell that all to little Brioso. She'd find out that not everyone in the world was nice, even if they weren't openly mean and dangerous. Alyssum thought that was one lesson everyone had to learn on their own.

Another heavy shiver shook her coat, and the mare nudged the foal gently in the shoulder towards the shore. "We should probably get out now before it gets too bad... you can't swim if you can't feel your legs, right?" Afterall, she might throw herself into danger, but Alyssum couldn't let a young thing like Brioso get in trouble because of something she did. Young ones needed to be protected. "We can dry off in the sun... nice and warm!"

Brioso shivered at the nudge and gave a brief nod, "Yeah... If I feel my legs, I won't know if I'm moving my legs enough to swim and keep me up." She shivered again, this time at the thought of sinking into the cold water. Then, as an after-thought, the filly added, "What happened to all the water when the snow came?" She frowned a little at the mare; if snow was like solid water, will all the rivers and lakes become solid as well?

The thought disturbed her, and she looked at Alyssum with a mild worried expression as she waited for an answer. Seeing that the other female was walking towards the bank, she trotted after her to catch up before slowing down to follow behind, all the while waiting for a reply to her question.

Alyssum's ear swiveled to catch the question even as one black hoof squished into the muddy bank. She shook her head, sending droplets flying from her neck, but it did little to help with the cold. "They do get shiny and tough, and sometimes you can walk on top of them. I remember having to break the river open once to get something to drink. But you need to be careful because it can break too much, and then you'll fall in! That nearly happened to my aunt... oh, it was scary!"

She pulled herself completely out of the river before turning around, wanting to keep her eyes on the foal. Had to be prepared.... just in case... "Don't worry, Brioso. I'm sure you'll make a great explorer, and you'll know what I know, so it'll help, right?"

{Thank you! x3 We should try ending the RP soon since its so long now!}

"That does sound scary... I'm glad that your aunt's fine though!" The filly exclaimed with a frown as she climbed back onto dry ground. Then, she stomped her hoofs on the ground and smiled happily; feeling the dry, solid ground beneath her hoofs made her feel more secure and safe as compared to the squishy and slippery ground underwater.

Looking back up at Alyssum, the filly shook some water off her body and shivered again, "An explorer? Well, to be honest..." She paused, hesitating before looking around and heaving a sigh; old habits die hard, and she found it hard not to mention that word whenever something similar was mentioned... After all, talking about her dream instead of forcing the 'fact' onto someone else should be fine, right?

Silently in her heart, Brioso apologized to her mentor, Grencia, and managed a smile at the mare, "I want to help others when I'm older. A heroine of sorts... Its my dream!"

Satisified that the younger Soquili wasn't going to drown, Alyssum turned her attention to her cold fur. Trotting into a nearby patch of sunlight, she began to roll in the grass. She knew that the only way to warm up was to get as much of the water off as possible, and the quicker the better.

The grass felt nice against her coat, a makeshift brush that did the job well enough, if not perfectly. She kept her attention mostly on the colt, however, and when the filly began speaking of what she wanted to be, the chocolate mare ceased her task, rolling back onto her hooves with an excited swish of her cream tail. "Helping people is a great dream!"

Now, truth be known, Alyssum had no idea what a 'heroine' was, but she liked the feel of the word, the enthusiasm with which it burst out of Brioso's mouth. The energy and life that surrounded it, accompanied by the association with helping others, made her take an instant liking to it. She tried it for herself, shaping the sounds carefully with her tongue, "Hare-o-win. Heroine. That's nice. If it's what you want, then you should definitely go after it. Anything worth having's got to be fought for and protected, I think. So maybe when you're finally a heroine... you can direct that to protecting other people."

Yes. Like Alyssum did with the plants of the forest, or with the giant walking pecan that had gotten stuck against the tree. She liked the sound of this 'heroine' part, and surely if anyone could fill it, it would be the wet blue filly before her. With a satifised nod, she went back to her rolling, calling over to Brioso, "You're gonna want to dry off as best you can before you get too cold."

The filly didn't feel cold; in fact, after hearing what Alyssum had to say about her dream, Brioso felt sort of warm - of course, it was an internal warmth, but somehow she didn't feel physically cold despite the ice-cold water clinging to her pelt. Beaming at the mare, she nodded enthusiastically as she trotted over, "I want to protect my friends and family... And the best way is by protecting everything around them as well, I think."

She paused, blushing a little as she tried to shake the water off while hoping that Alyssum didn't notice, "I think helping even one at a time can make a difference... Like how you spotted the giant walking pecan, and we helped get it home! Maybe its friends and family are waiting for it!"

Her smile widened at the thought, and she glanced upwards at the sky. Then,s he frowned and let out a shocked gasp. Then, she looked down at the mare on the ground, "I have to get going! I didn't realize that its so late already!" She blushed even more, looking away for a moment before turning back, "Thank you, Alyssum... You taught me a lot today. I'll make sure to visit you again when I'm bigger!"

She grinned, leaning down to nuzzle the older Soquili before heading towards the way they came, "See you!" With that, Brioso vanished back into the forest and out of sight.

{Ta-dah! And I'll love another RP again sometime. <3 Thanks again for the RP!}
