Whistle smiled as she nosed Daliu on the cheek in farewell, nudging the young mare off into the woods. It was strange to think the young-ling had grown since she'd been here... That she'd been away from her love and family long enough to witness a leggy, clumsy filly mature into a graceful mare.
"It doesn't seem that long ago that I was freeing you from a tangle of weeds and vines." She murmured, not realizing she'd spoken aloud.
Daliu drew to a halt with a laugh, spinning on her haunches to face her friend. Her blue eyes were bright with humor as she glanced at the mare who was practically family. She'd adopted Whistle that first day, and made it a point to visit the mare whenever she could.
"Don't you know, Lady Whistle? It wasn't that long ago at all."
Whistle tsked disapprovingly, frowning with mock severity as the young mare laughed and pranced. "Stop that now, Daliu. Teasing an old woman and her frail memory."
"Frail indeed." Daliu rolled her eyes. "What nonsense, Lady Whistle! You and I both know it. Your memory is better now -having healed- than it was when I first met you. And you are not 'old' by any means."
"Alright, alright." Whistle agreed with a nod. "Off with you now, child. Go on."
"One day, you really should come meet the Shaman-Woman I live near." Daliu murmured as she turned away, speaking over her shoulder. "I really think you'd like her.. And maybe she could heal the rest of your memories, or point you in the right direction, or something..."
"Thank you for your concern, child." Whistle smiled. "We shall do that, one day. Now go home to this Shaman-Woman and your herd of friends. Be well until the next time we meet."
"Until next time then, Lady Whistle."
