 Wait...uh-oh, the game was on now!
Now where had she gone? He looked one way, then the other, treading water, though perhaps not noticing increasing depth of the water. Hmmm, yipe, she was right under him!
He lept from the water, or at least as well as one could leap with no ground to push off from, another splash of water in his wake. An echo of laughter, muffled by the splash of water in his face, his head shaking to clear his eyes.
Taking a deep breath, Ali dove beneath the water, searching for his target, a flash of white to tell him where the lioness was. The salt water stung his eyes, but he was quickly getting used to it, wow, the water was so clear, hey, was that a fish?
Ah, every day should be like this.

Kwaruza chuckled as she watched him. He was under the water now so she swam away from him, broke through the water to get a nice lungful of air and then dived back down. As far down as she knew she could risk going. It was shallow here anyway as they were close to the shore but the fish down the bottom here were still stunning.
She didn't stay long though. She had a bigger fish to catch, a rather large blue one. Now where had he gone?

Ali hadn't gone far, distracted from the game by a silvery fish. He swam after it a moment before he was distracted again, a turtle, a school of bright yellow fish, swimming along the rocky ledge beneath them. Whoa, it was amazing, more than he'd ever imagined.
Psychedelic, man...
A cough, his lungs burned. Captivated by the fish, he had forgotten his most vital need, air. Turning, driven by that basic impulse, he swam for the surface, paws reaching with his strokes. A gasp as he broke the surface, a deep breath, ah sweet air.
A happy sigh, why had it taken him so long to come back here? It was more beautiful than he remembered, than he had ever imaged. Nirvana, paradise, true peace, whatever he called it, it was home.
Now if only he could find his friend before she snuck up on him again.

She swam about for a little more before heading to shore knowing that she needed some air. She wasn't one to usually do something like this but it seemed somewhat appropriate. She crawled onto the shore, looking back to see him come up for air. She smirked and then ran off along the beach. She would see him again, she was sure and he was now part of the pride.
She didn't even know why she acted like this, it seemed childish in a way but it also seemed right. She could apologize next time she saw him, it would be fine.

His eyes scanned the surface, looking for a sign of white. Not finding her, he looked beneath the surface, was she sneaking up on him again? Several minutes of searching later, he had been unable to find her, oblivious that she had run to the shore.
Maybe she had only done as he had, become lost in the beauty of the water, the colorful fish swimming along the bottom. Well, that was okay, he could never fault anyone for enjoying such beauty. Ah, a deep breath, a contented smile, he had found his home, and as for his friend, well he would find her again, or she would find him.
Whenever we mean again, dudette.
But for now, his attention had been called to the fish, swimming peacefully in the water beneath him. Look out fishes, it's lunch time.
