I've been playing, passively of course, since right before the name change. I still call it PMOG, too.
I'm Xeigrich on there.
And to answer a question from earlier in the thread... Yes, if one person loots an item, it's gone. You can loot DP Cards (for 10 DP) or a Crate (for whatever the person left inside it). The same goes for bad things like Mines, which disappear once you set them off.
And they don't tell you this, but your own mines can trip on you, both wasting you a mine and possibly breaking your armor, so don't lay mines somewhere unless you don't plan on coming back there for a while.

Amossk Xeigrich I've been playing, passively of course, since right before the name change. Think you could give me a few pointers? I just started a day or 2 ago It's really simple. They may have changed some things, so if you find out something I'm mentioning isn't "true," then it's probably because an update to the system or toolbar changed it. DP is the "currency." You earn 2 DP for sites (URLs, really) visited while wearing armor, and 3 DP if you run around naked. You put on armor to protect yourself from Grenades and Mines. Grenades are thrown onto YOU specifically by someone else, and take away 10 DP from your stash -- I don't think you can go negative. Mines are laid on specific URLs (such as http:blah blahblah. comstuffpage10 rather than just blah .com). That means, for example, individual threads on Gaia can have a Mine (or a DP Card or Crate) left there, rather than just on the front page of Gaia. Anybody can leave a DP Card ("awsm" = Awesome!) to give the finder 10 DP, but I think you have to make some progress before you can leave Crates. You can put pretty much any consumable item in Crates, I think, but I've yet to lay one so I don't really know. If you get Grenaded or Mined, you can attach a "St. Nick" to "nix" the offending player. This causes their next mine or grenade to fizzle out as sort of a way of payback. There's something about Watchdogs, too, but I don't know about them. There are also LOTS of missions, which are literally just a list of web pages someone put together (each stop at a web page is called a Lightpost). You also can earn Badges by completing some PMOG official tasks like visiting a certain site a couple of times a week for a month. Badges are just for show, kind of like Xbox 360 achievements. Also, any item you "use up" can be purchased in exchange for DP (datapoints, which I didn't mention earlier by name) in the "Shoppe." If you point at anything on the toolbar, it should tell you what it is. OH, one last thing, you earn "Pings" for communicating with players, such as sending a PM to someone. PMs cost, I think, 2 DP per send to prevent spamming. I don't know what purpose Pings have except maybe to level up a certain class. I don't know much about classes except that you level up all of them based on what actions you take (crates, mines, making missions and portals -- portals are like individual lightposts from one site to another), and you can pick a "primary" class to show off which class you prefer. That's pretty much all I know. I'm probably forgetting something (and not mentioning a lot of things I don't know at all), but there's a semi-comprehensive Guide if you check the homepage.

Kind of like St. Nicking a websight rather then person and Ping are used for doing things like making exploding crates and abundant portals X3 Thank you muchly ^-^

Kind of like St. Nicking a websight rather then person and Ping are used for doing things like making exploding crates and abundant portals X3 Thank you muchly ^-^ Well from what I've gathered, a Watchdog is like the opposite of a Mine, in the sense that it is placed on a web page and prevents THAT page from receiving a mine. I know for a fact you can't use Watchdogs until you've made some progress in the game, though, so I can't personally comment on their exact function. I actually had no idea what Pings were useful for, or that you could even make an exploding crate, haha. ...What's with the empty bump there, chap? Not really necessary, if I may say so myself. You've got a decent head on your shoulders... Could've come up with some meat for that post's bones.
I would indeed advise that anyone using FireFox 3 (even as a secondary browser) should install the NetherNet add-on and give it a go. I've been going at it like a madman these past few days. I didn't think it would be so fun tossing random grenades at people~
EDIT: Nice sarcastic pun you have there. xp
