((Sounds good to me. Have to have something to gossip about!))
Jessan finished his klah is one big swallow. Immediately, its warmth soaked through and burned away the remaining morning chill from his bones. He grabbed a piece of bread and spread butter on it with great relish. In the temporary cotholds is family would set up between the big winter and summer camps things like butter, fruit jams and sugar treats were rare. Jessan was definitely enjoying Ista's good fortunes.
"This clutch is rather small compared to the last one. But this is a junior queen, so maybe they don't lay as big as clutchs? The last clutch had mostly greens so perhaps some blues and browns to even it out a little bit? What do you think, Davian?"
The boy had otherwise been quiet. If he was going to swim, he needed to be tossed into the stream of conversation and stay afloat.

((Sorry, I was just trying to figure out the posting order, it's why I didn't post before xD ))
Davian had just taken an overly large bite of oatmeal when he heard Jessan's comment. Stuck in between trying to eat and wanting to respond he just nodded as he chewed. By the time he swallowed the conversation had been swept away so he stayed quiet for a moment, trying to remember everyone's names.
When Quinnel brought up the smaller clutch on the sands Davian had to think for a moment. He had heard rumours that there was a smaller clutch but since he hadn't been at the Hatching so he hadn't seen the larger clutch or the one that was left on the sands. As he listened to Zara remark on the egg not making the dragon he nodded, he had heard that expression before.
Lifting his cup of klah he took a sip just as Jessan asked him another question. Shards! Why did he keep getting caught eating. Swallowing the klah he grinned at the other boy. "Well, some blues and browns would be nice, though a bronze would be a nice surprise. But I get the feeling there's going to be at least one or two greens."

Mirea, who had just been sipping and watching sat up at the mention of a clutch. She had no idea that it was there. Mood instantly better she smiled, "It'll be a lot of fun finding out what colors they hold." She said to no on in particular. The nerves most candidates felt at a hatching hadn't really driven home to her yet. Having met one weyrling already she only knew the good side of a young dragon. Not the confused, frightened side. She nodded pleasantly at Jessan as he spoke. "Browns would be lovely. You make a good point about it being a junior queen. Is this her first clutch?" She wasn't sure if the boy would know but she figured if someone knew, it would make good conversation.

Ugh. Morning. Perhaps some klah would wake him up properly... He'd been up late last night, and it showed in Kypak's sleepy expression, though his usual alertness was returning gradually. The smell of breakfast and hot klah was always good for a wake-up call, as was the familiar chatter of the hall. Loading up a tray, he quickly scanned the tables for familiar faces as he made his way over.
Kypak slowed as he passed the table full of Candidates, catching the tail end of the conversation as he did so. It didn't take a Masterharper's quick wit to figure out what the topic of discussion was. "There are always a few greens," he pointed out matter-of-factly, setting his tray down at an empty seat as he addressed Davian. Perhaps some might think it a little forward for him to insert himself into the conversation as if he belonged there, but he wasn't much on the waffling and hanging about as if one needed an invitation. If the seat was saved, they could simply tell him to shove off, and he would, no fuss. Besides, he never missed an opportunity to take part in a discussion about an upcoming hatching, or at least listen. Years at the Weyr, he felt, had given him a good perspective on these things.
He glanced at Zara across the table, lingering on her briefly. She looked familiar -- from the Healer craft, perhaps? He was quite sure that he'd seen her before. Hadn't caught her name, though, that was a pity.

Zara's eyes glinted with recognition as Kypak seated himself at the table, and she offered a nod to the fellow weyrbred Candidate. His name escaped her at the moment, but she knew his face--they'd both stood at many Hatchings, and both studied under the Healers when they could. "Well, I can't think of a clutch that I haven't seen a green in yet, so that would be a given," she admitted. "The eggs in this clutch don't look very big either, so I'd say this one would be no different." She held out her hand to the new arrival. "Zara...I've seen you around the Healers, but I didn't catch your name?"

Jessan looked up at the boy who had sat down at one of the few remaining spots. This was good! Any chance to interact with others was always a good chance. The topic of the smaller clutch was proving to be most amusing with everyone having a strong opinion or view of how things would go on the Sands. "Of course, there are always greens. I just think that their might be some more blues and browns in the clutch because there were so few in the last clutch."
Belly full, Jessan stayed at the tables. Smiling at Mirea because she agreed with his ideas, the former herder sighed in contentment. He could really get used to Weyr life. Not that he had hated being a herder. But constant travel and cold nights were not all romantic as the Harpers made it out to be...

Davian nodded in agreement with how the conversation was going as he ate. Glancing upwards he blinked slightly confused, his sister was standing at the entrance of the dining hall, trying to get his attention. When their eyes met she motioned for him to follow her and then turned disappearing into the Weyr. With a chuckle the Candidate began to stand.
"I'm sorry to leave so suddenly, but apparently there's some emergency my sister needs me to help her with." Smiling at those at the table he waved. "It was a pleasure meeting you all." Swiftly he disposed of his left over food before heading out of the dining hall hoping he could find his sister before he had to start running messages.
((and that's it for me guys, have fun <3 ))

There was a trace of relief in Ky's grey-blue eyes as he accepted the offered hand -- good, so he hadn't simply forgotten her name (an uncommon occurrence, and always a cause of embarrassment for him). "Kypak," he responded in time with a brief, firm handshake. "You're a fellow Healer apprentice, right? Or, well, Candidate-slash-apprentice. You know what I mean." Everyone was always a Candidate first, the sheer amount of time it took out of the day didn't give you much choice. Then again, he supposed it weeded out most of those who lacked the dedication to deserve dragons.
"I think..." His voice dropped to a softer, almost half-absent tone; he wasn't really addressing the table at large so much as voicing aloud his thoughts. "Less greens than last time, for sure. But enough. More blues and browns, maybe... I don't think there will be a bronze." A small shrug. "But I could be wrong. No one knows until Hatching day, right?"
