A genius? Hee hee. Well, she did have to admit it was a pretty good scenario. One of her better ones, at the very least. Still, credit was still due elsewhere. She couldn't take it all just because she brought up the Older-Brother Complex. "I couldn't have done it without you, Elae! Your experience was invaluable to the whole thing." They made great partners, if she said so herself. They could take on the whole Weyr and nothing would stop them! Girl power to the max!

"Yeah, they would definitely have to put up with him. A nice brown or perhaps even a very sweet blue. I'm not sure what kind of dragon Ceylith is, but if she's anything like him then they rider and the dragon would have to be very patient. Then again, perhaps he gets in a really good mood after you know what, so it might be worth it." She waggled her eyebrows. It wasn't unheard of for men to get nicer after sex, though she was told they usually just slept. Still, a sleeping C'ren was probably a nicer C'ren in the long run.

Nandeli's grin widened when Elae brought up the Flight records. "Oh probably. If we can't find out from the records we should ask a couple of the riders. Say we're looking for a lost relative or something, and we heard that they were at this Weyr with a great Flight success rate." It wasn't exactly plausible, but who would deny two pretty girls? Elae's musings about C'ren's weyrmate made her squee. "By the first Egg it would be so adorable! Reuniting of lovers, separated by woe and horrible families. Driven to go against their true nature in order to fulfill what they think is their duty." She gave a dramatic sigh. Relationships really were the best thing ever. "Where should we start?"

They really were a good team, the pair of them. Pretty soon, they would take command of the entire gossip-infrastructure of the Weyr, if it wasn’t in their hands already. This was their world, without a doubt, one of information and misinformation. Miss Information, perhaps. Hmm… Miss Information and the Nose. Now that was a nice team name, wasn’t it? Elae gave another hundred-watt smile and bowed flamboyantly to her friend. “A team then! For the betterment of gossip everywhere.”

“Actually, Ceylith is a complete sweetheart. Very gentle and everything. One kid started to cry when he was passed up, and she gave him a nuzzle until he stopped crying,” Elae recalled. “I guess opposites really do attract or something. Or maybe C’ren was really different when he first Impressed. We should ask around about that too.” There had to be someone who knew more about the pair. After all, they had been here for ten Turns! That was like forever! Elae waggled her eyebrows right back a Nan, completely agreeing with her about the whole ‘nice after a good lay’ thing. “I bet he’s a cuddler. He tries to be all tough and everything to hide it, but he’s totally a cuddler.”

Eeeee! It was such a sad story! And totally adorable to boot! It just had to be true. If it wasn’t true, then Elae’s view of the world would be irrevocably shattered. Shattered! “And I bet he would be much nicer if he got his Weyrmate back. We’d be heroes!” Because, of course, making C’ren cheerful would be totally worth of a ‘Hero’ title.

But where to start? She looked down at the hides in her hands and went through them, hoping to find something useful. Unfortunately, it seemed that the Scribes lacked a sense of drama and didn’t include Flights in a rider’s records. No matter. As the saying went, there was more than one way to skin a wherry! “Let’s start with the Lower Caverns’ staff, to see what they know about the Green Flights. Or we could try asking C’ren directly…” but she doubted that would work. Boys were always so reluctant when it came to love.

"For the betterment of gossip everywhere!" Nan agreed heartily. If she had known about Elae's nickname she would have approved it as well. Every gossiper needed a true nickname that let everyone know that they were onto them. No secret was safe, especially not in the Weyr. If the Nose and Miss Information didn't know it and the kitchen girls didn't know it then it clearly didn't exist. That, or it was extremely boring. Nobody cared about scandals that weren't actually scandals, after all.

"Aww really? Ceylith comforted him?" That sounded so cute! It was times like this that she'd wished she'd been Searched. As a Weyrbrat she was allowed to stand as was her right, so she had never had to be Searched like many of the other Candidates. It wasn't such a bad thing at times. She could Stand as many times as she wanted without much fuss from her Foster Mother, and if she never Impressed then she would just return to working in the Lower Caverns with all the rest. She didn't even have to leave her home every time she visited the Hatching Sands. But, at the same time, it would have been nice to say she'd been picked by a dragon. Elae was lucky.

"Oooh, a cuddler. I would totally believe in that." Seeing wasn't always believing. Nan believed a lot of things she had never seen with her own eyes. That was all part of the fun. "And I guess we could ask him about it… but I don't think he'd tell me." She frowned a little. "He didn't Search me and he was totally against our information collection the last time we met him. Do you think he would tell you? Or… or! I got it! We could ask one of the biggest, handsomest riders to go and ask C'ren for us! He would totally tell another rider about it, especially if he really is gay." It would sort of be like a test!

"We would be heroes!" Nan agreed readily. They had better get started! "Right, to the Lower Caverns! Then we'll see if we can get someone to have a nice long chat with C'ren. I wonder if C'ym would do it…"

So far, Elae hadn’t given much of a thought to what would happen if she never Impressed. Unlike Nan, she hadn’t been a Weyrbrat. But, she still had a loving family back at Ista Hold. No doubt, they would be perfectly happy to take their daughter back. Still, it would be a pity, Elae felt, to leave behind the camaraderie she had found here at the Weyr. Oh, and the gossip, of course! Hold gossip just wasn’t the same!

“It was absolutely adorable, when Ceylith gave him a nuzzle. It was just one of those moments, you know?” Hmm… and how to get more information out of the closed-mouth C’ren. Elae shook her head. “I doubt he’d talk to me. I get the feeling he doesn’t like me very much, even if he did bring me here. He’s persnickety. Extremely persnickety. We could try talking to Kallista or Raena for information. Raena’s my friend; I bet she’d be willing to find out some stuff for us.” And, who knows? Maybe she’d come right out and admit that C’ren was totally trying to get her into bed or something. It wasn’t entirely unknown for girls to try to sleep with riders, in the hopes that it would increase their chances of Impression. Although a pregnancy would kind of ruin that…

Her eyes went wide as the Nose brought up the most perfect plan ever. “Oh! Perfect idea, Nan! Absolutely perfect! Ceylith has got to Rise sometime, so I bet C’ren constantly has his eyes open for good-looking men. I know I would keep my eyes open in that situation. Well, and good-looking women,” she admitted. It wasn’t like Nan didn’t know that already. Elae returned the hides to their places, still considering the implications of the Mysterious but Conveniently Located Stain. C’ren might’ve been trying to hide, but he couldn’t hide forever. Not with the Nose and Miss Information on his tail!

“We could try C’ym. He doesn’t have a sense of drama, so he wouldn’t be suspicious.” But, at the same time, he wouldn’t know what questions to ask. Clearly, he would have to be coached by Nan and Elae. “But at least he has a reason to talk to C’ren. They’re both riders. And C’ym will need help taking care of Hanumanth, right? Advice and whatnot…” Now that the hides were returned to their rightful place, Elae brushed herself off once more. “To the Lower Caverns, my dear Nan! We will get to the bottom of this!”

Clearly, Elae had already forgotten that C'ym might be a little upset with her concerning the sudden appearance of lace and pink ribbons on his clothes.

Aaaw, Ceylith sounded so cute! It was a pity they probably wouldn't get to know her. Though, there was a chance that if they Impressed the green would favour their little hatchlings and they could win over C'ren that way. The way to a man's heart may be his stomach, but the way to a dragonrider's heart was totally his dragon. If they could get Ceylith's approval they would be on the road to success. It was a pity that Elae hadn't gotten to know the green better. It would have made talking to C'ren much easier. "Pernickety eh? That's not very good. I wonder if he's especially grumpy this week because his green is going to Rise soon…" Wouldn't that be awesome! Think of the extra drama! But, until it happened, she could only fantasize. Still, it would happen one day, and Nan would be waiting.

"I have a feeling Kallista wouldn't want to talk to us." Pity, really, since she would be such a good information source. But, alas, she was an uncooperative as C'ren. "Raena would help though, wouldn't she?" She seemed the type to help out the infamous Miss Information and the Nose. And if she was involved in this little threesome she might be more useful than going to C'ren directly. Though, if they really were involved…. Still, it would be worth a short. Nandeli never had any problems asking people for information, especially since Raena wouldn’t know that they suspected she was involved. It was the perfect set up. "Exactly!" she exclaimed, agreeing with regard to Ceylith's eventual Rise.
"We'll have Raena and then handsome men and women as our back up."

She was glad that Elae supported the use of C'ym. "He wouldn't have the slightest clue what was going on. Besides, we could do it under the cover of getting to know some other riders. What better place to start than with the greenrider? It will be the perfect male bonding time. And advice too! I'm sure C'ym would love some advice from an older rider." Ooooh yes, all kinds of extra advice. Tee hee. "To the Lower Caverns!" Nandeli echoed, grinning widely.

They had more information to gather!
