Well, they've been irritating me on and off for about a year now. Like, its not a constant pain like Ame said, and the pain doesn't even last a week. Normally its like 1-3 days off and on.

I got all four of mine in close succession... it was joyful. whee Saying that, though, noone would believe me when I said they were cutting (I was only just 16 when they started) until I got the dentist to check it out. Turns out the top two are twisted, so where I didn't really get much pain when they cut, I now have almost constant ulcers back there, because the bottom of the tooth (the jagged bit that's supposed to chew things) is actually pointing towards the inside of my mouth.

... I'm chewing myself! gonk

they can cause abscesses and are almost pointless.

They can cause abscesses. Not do. In my opinion, having them removed before there's any hint of a problem is a tad more risky. My denstist won't remove mine, even though they're twisted, unless they start causing me major issues.

Lets see, the top ones give me no trouble. The bottom left is no problem. However the bottom right (which is FINALLY starting to cut) randomly hurts me for about a week every 4-5 months. So at least its not constant pain.

Weird. Me too.

None of mine have broken through yet either. And it's the bottom right one that is bothering me too. And to top it off, it's the same side I had a root canal on. So, every time the wisdom tooth starts to be a b***h, it puts pressure on that other tooth, causing horrible pain. And like half of that tooth is chipped away, leaving just the filling on one side. I swear I must have corrosive saliva or something.
