Keeta gave a start as he spoke. She hadn't expected him to be waiting right there for her, as he had headed outside a moment ago. Smiling, she wrapped herself around him.
"You don't look too bad yourself," she said running fingers through his hair. "I do wish you'd let me in on the secret though..."

"Soon enough," Rhine chuckled. He slowly, reluctantly disentangled himself from her and then tugged her towards the door.
Rhine quickly tugged her down a warn path. His excitement was hard to contain but he was proud of himself for managing. Finally they arrived at the large lake. It was so large it was hard enough to see the other side, but you could still see the island in the middle.
"Where going there," he said pointing to the island. "And, where no going by way of foot." He grinned mischievously as he pulled off his shorts and tossed them on a near by tree trunk.

Keeta gawked as she spied the island and determined his intentions. There was no way she could swim that far. Not that she was in bad shape or anything, swimming was just not something that she was particularly talented at. It had always been more or less a recreational thing for her. Not a way to get from point A to point B.
"You want me to swim all the way there.....?" she questioned, uncertainly, hoping that she was somehow misunderstanding him.

"Well we are going to swim..." he chuckled as he kissed her quickly on the cheek before taking several steps back. "Remember I said you'd get to view something differently that you were already use to."
He took a moment to stretch to what seemed every part of himself before he let a yellowish color with green blotches (which made him look like he had gotten into an ink bucket) coat his body. Everything was slowly extending as if turning his 'mold' into jelly. Finally fingers and toes became claws and his frills showed. Seconds later he had a muzzle and from there the rest was easy. In no more than five minutes he had turn completely into his dragon form.
He tilted his head and stretched it from side to side and then shook out the rest of himself. He curled his tail around his body to make 'stairs' for Keeta. "Come on," he said in a much deeper voice but it was a voice that was still his.

Keeta watched him curiously, wondering at his meaning as he stepped back, but it soon became glaringly clear. She studied him in facination as he transformed, her mouth slightly agape at the wonder of it.
"Why can't I do anything cool like that?" she grumbled good-naturedly as she approached him. She had no intentions of getting on immediately as he had indicated. Rather, Keeta stood to the side of him and gently ran her hands over his smooth, rather soft scales. The sensation was interesting and she cast a glance at his face, hoping he didn't mind.
"How come you never let me see you like this before? You're....elegant" she couldn't think of another word to describe it.

He brought his head around to his side and laid it on the ground. He was almost perfectly curled. "The area that we live in above the cafe may be large but it isn't this large." He chuckled and flicked his tongue out against her hand. "... Also I've lived so long as a 'human' that I really don't think much about the form I was born in."
He moved his tail around her legs and scooted her in. "Come on." Though it was barely noticeable he shook himself again. "I'll bake before long." And, literally so because the sun would dry him out. That was one part he didn't miss about this form.

"Sorry, I didn't even realize that," she said sincerely. Maybe she would get a chance to study him like this at a later time. Tenatively she climbed on his back, hoping she wasn't weighing too much or settling somewhere wrong. When she thought she felt secure, she spoke again.
"Is this good?" Keeta asked.

Rhine lifted his head and faced himself forward (uncurling himself) as he stood up. "Yup," he said reassuringly. "Just don't step on the back fins," he chuckled as he gave them a wiggle.
He started towards the water. "my mothers will has been enacted... You will have the ability to breath under water for this time." By this time his feet where in the water.

Keeta's eyes opened wide. Did she hear that right? Breathe underwater?
"......really?!?" She looked at the water apprehensively. It sounded really interesting and a wonderful experience, but her natural preservation instincts made her nervous. Could she really do that and survive?

He just nodded his head as they became submerged. The water felt cool and good against his skin. He just hoped Keeta would trust in what he had said and just do it- breath under water.
His claws dug into the bottom of the lake as he took a couple more steps in. He then launched himself forward. It was almost like he was running along bottom. But really he was barely touching it.

Despite his reassurances, Keeta held her breath as soon as they submerged, but she held tight to him and opened her eyes. Everything was a murky green color and she could see little fish swimming by. They were moving surprisingly fast and Rhine's movements in the water were fluid and natural.
It wasn't more than 20 or 30 seconds that they had been underwater, when Keeta felt her lungs bursting, desperate for oxygen. She remembered what he had said about being able to breathe, but her body fought the idea and it wasn't until she could stand it no longer that she opened her mouth, praying that water would not enter her lungs.

Rhine could feel her body tensing. He snorted but only bubbles came from his nostrils. His hind legs dug into the bottom and in a spring like motion he headed towards the surface. He cut through the top like a hot knife through butter. He knew she just had long enough to catch another breath before they would be back under water. Maybe one more of these before they would be at the island.

Keeta opened her mouth and no water entered, but before she could really make sense of it, Rhine had brought them both to the surface and she took in a lungful of fresh air. Before she could ask him about their sudden reaapearance on the surface, they were suddenly back underwater and Keeta wondered whether she really could breathe underwater or not. His panicked movement towards the surface had her even more worried than before.

Rhine didn't give second thought after breaking surface and reentering the water. He did a couple rolls and flips knowing that she was holding on tight. He was being playful and enjoying this in its entirely. It had been FOREVER... And he really had to get back into the habit of this since he enjoyed it so much- and he knew she would learn to love it if not already so.

Holding on tight was exactly what Keeta was doing. And she wasn't thinking enough to know whether she was enjoying it or not. Right now it seemed really a matter of survival more than anything else. Perhaps when she felt comfortable breathing underwater she would be able to take in the thrill of the experience, even vicariously through Rhine.
