U'tuhlroo listened in silence, contemplating what the buck said. It made sense, and it surprised her that he had already grasped what some bucks never seemed to understand even if they lived to see hrair summers. He was not born and raised among proper rabbits but perhaps he could be tolerated despite this. As long as he refrained from approaching her outside the warren in broad daylight of course...

"Never hurts to tell others such things. Perhaps, with any luck, the next generation will learn and take note of that, eh?"

From wise beyond his age to naive between a heartbeat and the next. It was just too much and U'tulroo couldn't help but laugh out loud.

"You have lived a sheltered life Spotty," she said and gave him a friendly head butt, "I don't have too high hopes for the next generation, but I sure hope you are right. With a little luck the next generation of boneheads won't need to be knocked around quite as much before they get it."

The spotted buck couldn't help but to appear slightly fallen as the tan doe burst into peels of laughter. He didn't quite understand what she found so funny, as he had meant each word he said sincerely. He just didn't understand how naive he actually sounded or actually was.

The friendly headbutt did bring a smile to him, though, and his ears pricked slightly. The fact that U'tuhlroo wasn't scowling at him cheered him somewhat. Perhaps the fact that he was a former hutch rabbit wouldn't get in the way of a future friendship.

"Aw, come off it. Not that sheltered any more." He gave her a wry grin and a playful glance as he returned the headbutt.

It didn't occur to U'tuhlroo that Cowslip might take offence for being laughed at, and to be quite honest she would probably have laughed anyway. But luckily the buck turned out to have a sense of humour, another good thing in her book.

"You're all right, Spotty," she said with a friendly grin, "And since you're still running you can't be completely hopeless, right? The really sheltered ones are picked off by elil pretty soon I reckon."

No, for a hutch-rabbit he was not too bad at all, and U'tuhlroo no longer regretted running into him. She groomed her face, feeling content and warm. Their chatting had made the time fly and her fur was almost dry again.

"I suppose, not completely anyways." He chuckled and groomed his spotted fur in an almost sheepish fashion. "I don't know, though, this gut of mine doesn't do me much good in addition to my white fur. Might be my downfall." Though he was grinning, some truth rang to his words. He didn't seem too terribly concerned, however, and was busily grooming one ear.

"That being said, I am feeling a bit of hunger coming on. Ever demanding of me, my stomach." He chuckled and dropped back to all fours. "I do hope this weather clears soon, 'cos I certainly could do with a trip up and out of the warren. Still something I'm having to get used to, eating out in this sort of dreary day."

He wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea of surfacing, only to be pelted and soaked with water as U'tuhlroo had been. She was still a bit damp, even after their lengthy chat.

"Damp and full beats hungry and dry," U'tuhlroo said with a grin, "But you could stay below and chew your pellets if you don't want to get wet. That's what I do if it's really bad up there. And you won't melt from the water you know... "

She found it was easier to get along with him when she started to think of him like a big kitten or outskirter. Sure, he was ignorant about certain things, but that was because he hadn't learned about it yet. And if she expected the mental capacity of an outskirter she was bound to be pleasantly surprised more often than not.

"The weather might even work in your favour," she said and rose, "If the visibility is poor you'll stand out less and as long as you stick fairly close to the warren you'll have an advantage against any elil."

She stretched and then touched his nose with hers as a farewell before starting to head off deeper down the narrow passages of the warren.

"Have a good one, Spotty," she called back before getting too far. No, he was all right despite that awful coat, she decided.

Her words made sense and he made sure to file away the information that she offered him into the back of his mind. There always seemed to be so much he needed to learn and here she was offering some advice, to which he was extraordinarily grateful. Yes, now probably would be the best time to graze, even if the weather was horrid.

"Take care!" He called after her, after they touched noses and she was off down the run.

After a brief moment of debating, he shifted his rump towards the warren's entrance and braved the rotten weather outside to fill his growling stomach.
