(( ;A; ))

For a minute, Jounouchi almost thought the little guy was talking to himself. It would have fit in nicely with the pattern of weird that was beginning to establish itself already. Took him a good few moments of watching Malik scream and gesture wildly to realize that yes, the boy was addressing something outside himself. He and Geodude both shared a set of matching ‘are you kidding me?’ glances with each other before the blond sighed heavily and turned around to see what, if anything, was the matter.

“I think what he means is, come on over and introduce yourselves! C’mon, don’t be shy!” He shouted, a hand cupped around the side of his mouth to amplify his voice. After letting the hand drop he threw a sly little grin in Malik’s direction. “If you’re so tough an’ all, a few witnesses ain’t a problem, right? Gotta love a good crowd. Gets the blood pumpin’.”

Far off in a hillside manor, one eccentric multibillionaire pokemon master sat swishing down french cheeses with a most delectable Merlot. Between which he sat browsing the security system on his laptop, scanning through the various live video recordings from all around the county - because when you have endless supplies of wealth you can of course set up a ridiculously large surveillance system with which to spy on children, without worrying about impending lawsuits. Finding something that seemed promising, he settled back to watch a hoard of blond children (of indeterminate sexes) and one white haired youth. With a delighted chuckle Maximilian Pegasus began to hatch a most delectably plan, promising maximal delights and amusements, provided the right people were willing to play along of course. That in mind he turned away from the screen and made his way back to the bar, in order to refresh his Merlot, for what is cheese without a little wine.

((Sorry this is so short and LAME but I am on my desktop and didn't want to write a lot - I'm having laptop fails - but I swore I'd post something after vacation and by God it's something! Also Pegasus will not stay black but I am EXHAUSTED and am too tired to go find colored fonts and whatnot tonight so yes, I'll edit it tomorrow - or soon - I PROMISE!!! PEOPLE COME BACK TO THIS ROLEPLAY I IS SAD!!!!!!!!))

(( FFFFFFFFFFFF. I am SO sorry, guys. I've been meaning to type this post up for months, but distractions and traveling and everything else has just... ugh! I don't even really have an excuse. ;-; I'm sorry! I finally sat down and forced this out, like I've been meaning to, and it wound up being... kinda long. Again. Ahahahaaaaa, ********. ))

(Took out the sidebar, it wasn't coding right for some reason. .__. )
Ryou nodded, letting the girl know that he had taken in her words, even if the information really didn’t help him at all. So she didn’t know them… was she just watching for the show alone, then? He made to sit down next to her awkwardly, when she made it clear that she was offering him a seat (like she had any ownership over the ground), trying to gage just how much space he was supposed to be leaving between them (as if there was much space to begin with). He didn’t want to sit so close he seemed creepy, but he also didn’t want to sit too far and offend the person who seemed pretty capable of helping him out. He was also having to accommodate the fact that he could very well get caught up in the sheet he had draped over himself. Which he did, but he managed to get the coarse rubber on the bottom of his shoe unstuck before it caused any actual trouble.

The fact that the tanned blonde boy looked familiar to this girl meant nothing to Ryou -- after all, he didn’t recognize either, so… He frowned a bit and turned to her, giving the younger girl an inquiring look. He had heard of Team Rocket, but he didn’t know a whole lot about them. He’d heard some horror stories that could very well have just been rumors from his classmates when he had been in school. What on earth could they want from a kid, though? He didn’t understand those sorts of organizations… (Of course, now he was going to have to check those posters out, out of morbid curiosity.) This girl, apparently, seemed to find the thought rather hilarious, but the joke was sort of lost on the pale-skinned teen.

What she said next, however, had Ryou’s face lighting up a bit. “Oh? You’re looking for company?” He certainly wouldn’t turn down the company of this girl, if she didn’t mind him in return. She seemed nice enough. Besides, company made the time pass quicker and easier, and… well, admittedly, he had absolutely no idea where he was going or what he was doing. Any Pokémon he’d caught thus far were… sort of accidents. It was embarrassing, but true.

Ryou was about to suggest that he would be up for partnership when his stomach answered for him. His face colored a little, and he froze, eyes wider than normal. It was generally an accepted thing that your body shouldn’t be making noise in the company of someone you didn’t know, so of course his had to go and do it! However, this girl wound up turning into a shining, glorious angel when she easily produced food. Very edible and delicious-smelling food at that. Hus gut twisted, and his mouth thinned in an attempt to keep himself from jamming the closest one to his hand directly into his mouth. “Oh, thank you,” he said, too hungry to even bother declining her offer. He tried to pace himself when he took one, letting his eyes fall shut as he inhaled, smelling Heaven. Then he took a bite, and it was true love. Who cared if they were cold? The worst of food could taste decent when one was desperate enough, but that aside, Ryou was pretty sure that these would have been tasty under different circumstances, too.

The two fighting blonde males’ bickering even faded away in his bliss, however he jumped when the pitch was raised and the shouting was now directed at him. Well, at the girl, too, but still -- aimed at them.

Was this kid for real? Was there such a thing as a private Pokémon battle? Ryou had no idea; he was a severe novice to this whole thing, so for all he knew, this guy was telling the truth. However, when it came to something along the lines of “Team Magma”, the words were lost on the teenager. He hadn’t heard of that one before. Was this a real group, or something this guy made up to sound cool? A joke? Or a gang? His mind reeling, the jade-eyed male turned to the girl next to him, looking just as confused outwardly as he really was. “What’s ‘Team Magma’?” he asked, feeling even more out of the loop than before. He also felt a bit more uneasy. Should they just leave…?

That was, until he was (--er, they were) once again being addressed, this time by the other trainer. This one seemed a lot friendlier, and he looked a bit scruffy around the edges, but in a good way. Less intimidating. Should they?

Ryou waited for a moment, unsure of what to do. It was rude to not introduce oneself, though, so after a few moments, he glanced back down at the blonde girl and then back at the older-looking (decidedly paler) male. He got up off of the grass, only now realizing that he was going to have a lot of trouble holding the pork bun, dust himself off, and keep the sheet from falling.

Crap.

“I’m Ryou Bakura,” he offered (not realizing that his last name might cause some problems), having to raise his voice a bit, since walking over to the two of them right now seemed like he was asking for more trouble. He’d apparently already pissed off a deity somewhere, so he should tread carefully. With his luck he’d get caught in his blanket again and fall on his face.

Grace had never been his friend.

((yay meeps! And sorry I never changed Pegasus's color, I'm having massive technological fails in relations to being online so that'll be put off awhile longer. I am currently trying to post really fast so I can get out of the family room before my dad starts poking his nose over here - but I couldn't resist actual movement in the roleplay so yay something!!!))

Rebecca smiled as the pale looking teen attempted to not devour the proffered treat. Rebecca had unfortunately grown quite used to hanging out with ill mannered teens, still the attempt at any level of courtesy amongst today's male youth was a welcome respite indeed.

Turning her attention back to the blond trainers, Rebecca had to work hard to contain her merriment at the mites infuriation. While it would probably be a great deal of fun to rile the guy up, he seemed to be doing a just dandy job of upsetting himself. Noticing Ryou had introduced himself to the taller - and decidedly more composed - teenager, Rebecca stepped forward and stuck out one of her petite hands (she preferred to crush a few fingers during introductions, nobody would ever get to make the mistake of misjudging her by her size, age and/or gender). "Rebecca Hawkins," she supplied, clasping the large hand's surprisingly firm grip. After receiving a name to go with the face (both faces, as Jou ever so helpfully revealed his sullen opponents acclaimed title as well) she added, "pleasure to meet you Jou, though afraid I can't say the same about your irritable woman of a friend over there."

Rebecca flashed a wicked grin after the comment, enjoying the look of obvious offense flashing across the teens scowling face. The look on both men's faces after the term friend implying that neither would condescend to call the other by any companionable term anytime soon.

Moving out of the way of the stumbling Ryou, Rebecca waved her hand across the field. "So I fear we interrupted a battle here, oh I'm sorry," she smirked turning to Malik, "a private battle, though I can't say I've ever heard of such a ridiculous thing. I mean someone would have to be a pretty poor trainer," and at this point she increased her volume a few decibels to add to the degree of ridicule, "to object to an audience. Afraid of embarrassing oneself I suppose? I certainly would never have such a fear of public ridicule myself, I'm much too good of a trainer for that."

Rebecca had to work exceedingly hard at this point to contain her merriment at Malik's obvious irritation with her. Returning to her speech, she finished, "I suppose if all the privacy is really necessary me and Ryou can be on our way, look for trainers whose skill is more worthy of observation yea? So boys, what say you, would it be alright for this little girl to stay and watch for at least a bit?

((And ugh, kinda had to rush that off because my dad wants to kick me out of the room...well you know what dad if you wanna be so bitchy either put the family computer in a family room - oh riiiiiiiight you took over the family room *mumbles curses*...or hey, fix the router so I can use my own computer! Ahh ideas, ideas))

Midday was not the optimal time for traveling. And yet, here she was, climbing up this godforsaken hill with the sun beating down on her, dust clinging to every article of clothing and her pack settled uncomfortably on her back, and for what? Some pokemon tournament. While she hadn’t been formally invited, it wouldn’t take long to convince those hosting the tournament to add her name to the list. What Mai Kujaku wanted, Mai Kujaku got. It certainly helped that the prize money for winning the tournament was a substantial amount, $50,000 to be exact. With that much, she could give up battling and invest in a pokemon grooming business.

She was just about to give up for the afternoon and indulge in the lunch she’d packed when the reflection of sun off of something very shiny caught her eye. Without even knowing it, she’d practically stumbling upon the estate of someone very wealthy. Almost immediately, Mai lit up. Surely the owner of such an expansive property would take pity on a poor traveling woman, lost and all alone. With newfound determination fueling her steps, it didn’t take her long to reach the front gates. There she paused, for to the side of the gate was a very shiny metal box, clearly what had caught her eye in the first place. Moving closer, she noted her reflection and immediately began fixing her hair and wiping the dust from her face before pulling out a tiny bottle of perfume and spritzing herself lightly. Vanity, thy name is Mai.

Satisfied, she then pressed the button on the shiny box which had quickly revealed itself to be an intercom and put on her best puppy dog face. Whoever it was, they probably had a camera somewhere around here, which meant that it wouldn’t be enough to sound weary and desperate. She’d need to look the part as well. Hopefully the person behind the camera had a soft spot for blondes. To boost her chances, she tugged at her shirt, pulling it lower and then fiddled with her bra to ensure that the girls looked their best.

“I do hope that I’m not being a bother, but I’m a pokemon trainer traveling to the International Tournament and I was hoping that I might be able to rest for a bit before continuing on my way. It’s a terribly long walk, and it’s just so hot. I don’t wish to impose, but I really could use just a bit of a rest. It’d only be for an hour or so…” She allowed tears to well in her eyes as she spoke, her lip quivering slightly. Mentally she was smirking. No one could resist such a wonderful performance.

Having refreshed his selection of refreshments, Pegasus returned to his all time favorite hobby: stalking innocent and unsuspecting teenagers - not to give the impression that he’s a pederast of course. No this was purely curious observation, for marketing purposes of course.

Before turning his attention to the lay of the land, his eyes flickered across his home security monitors. Flashing across the main screen was the pitiable visage of one buxom blond lady. He smirked amiably at her pathetic attempt to beg hospitality, as if such a woman as she could ever seriously be hard up for anything, and more than likely wanted to tease out attention and favor from an affluent manor owner. However Pegasus felt himself more than willing for a little company, and he was sure the vixen would offer a fair amount of entertainment (no innuendo intended, despite his flamboyancy, Pegasus is not an easy lover), and perhaps even a degree of economical promise. When one of his suited associates entered the room to convey Mai’s precious little request, he waived his hand in assent, instructing that she be made comfortable to her standards before being brought to his attention. That settled, he turned back to his video cameras, hoping to see a little bit of that blond on blond battle action before dealing with his guest.

((Mmm…forcing myself to write as I go back to Hayward tomorrow, back to probably not having internet as much as I like until I can figure out what’s up with my wireless. This isn’t as long or in depth as I really wanted, but I’m insanely tired so it’ll have to do.

Also, L-kun aka Teh Weaving wanted to request Kaiba since he seems to still be free on the list and she‘s one of the few people who only has one character - a character she doesn‘t even like all that much at that. Pegasus would appreciate L-kun as Kaiba too, as he desperately wants to play with him (preferably against his own aspirations) and knows she‘d be a good sport in indulging this desire ^_~.

I picked a color for Pegasus, just to have one (I know I epic failed on that soon thing), however I have no attachment to it whatsoever, so if someone wants to reject it - especially on the basis that it's not the easiest to see (though I do like the flamboyant nature of it) - that‘s fine by me - just give me a suggestion, and code to do this with as I will be too lazy to locate my Hex chart in my brief 30 or so minutes of internet when I have to use my dads computer *is sad*

Mmm think that‘s it as this is now longer than my post *shuts it now*…gnite folks!))

She fidgeted nervously for a moment in the looming silence that had washed over the area after her little speech. Was she, perhaps, being denied? But, who could possibly say no to her, Mai Kujaku? In fact, she didn’t think that she’d ever been rejected in her life, or if she had, the offending person had quickly learned why that hadn’t been the wisest of decisions. She was not one to be taken lightly, though even she couldn’t take on a millionaire and hope to win. Feminine charms and a sharp mind could only get her so far. Without money, she would never even hope to compete with the mysterious owner of this mansion.

So it was that she found herself beginning to turn away, stopping only when she heard “Wait, miss!” come from somewhere behind her. A predatory grin lit up her features though she quickly schooled her expression into something more akin to gratitude and wonder before turning to greet the servant who had come to let her in. “Master Pegasus wishes to welcome you to his humble abode and hopes that you find your stay here most welcome.”

Mai merely smiled her thanks (really, playing the naïve, awe-stricken girl was just too easy) and followed him into the mansion that belonged to Pegasus. Hmm, the name sounded somewhat familiar, though she couldn’t quite figure out why she recognized. She followed along as the servant led her into a particularly lavish looking room, where she was told to make herself comfortable and that Pegasus himself would be there to join her shortly.

As she waited, she helped herself to several trays of delicacies that had been carried in, along with a glass of wonderful Merlot that seemed to constantly be full. Now this was the life. Perhaps this Pegasus was looking for a wife, or perhaps an adopted daughter. An heir perhaps? Yes, she could easily get used to such luxuries.

Pegasus couldn’t help but chuckle, watching his buxom blond visitor putter around his guest lounge. She had to realize she was on camera, in a place as lavish and pricey as Pegasus’ manor obviously was, yet she moved along without a care in the world. Easily making herself at home, with no attempt at hiding the rather un-lady like nature of her voracious appetite.

Turning his eyes back to the battle scene, Pegasus could not help but let out a slightly disappointed sigh. If a battle were going to occur here it wouldn’t be anytime soon. Apparently they needed to have powwow time first, with grand gestures and over the top flailing from the petite bronze boy holding himself somewhat apart from the rest of the group. Frustrated, he heaved his lithe form up and out of his desk chair, heading towards the lounge on the ground floor. Hopefully his guest would prove to be at least a little more entertaining.

He entered the room to find his visitor examining the possessions featured in the étagère in the far left corner of the room. Here he displayed a wide variety of artifacts, trophies of sorts - though only the most careful eye would ever recognize any of the pieces for this particular value. Raising his hands and waving them with a flourish he quickly called out a welcome, abruptly startling the girl from her perusal.

“Haha,” Pegasus cried, “didn’t mean to startle you my dear, just felt an overwhelming desire to burden you with my presence, if you don’t mind of course.” A little bit bewildered at first, she was able to provide no more than her name - Mai Kujaku - before ceasing to speak altogether. Of course not many upon first meeting master Pegasus can help but be a bit taken aback. Long and flowing silver curls framing a face barely into it’s mid-twenties, an old-fashioned maroon suit adorned with large silver buckles and buttons, and overwhelmingly flamboyant mannerisms will do that to the unsuspecting.

Pouring himself a glass of wine he turned back to his guest, noting that she had regained all measure of composure - though was adamantly attempting to hide this. Ah, he thought, she’s into games this one. No matter, Pegasus was the king of games - well mostly - so that was just fine with him. In fact it was preferred. If he wanted irritably straightforward he would go and get Kaiba-boy on the phone.

“So miss Mai, it’s wonderful to meet you. Name’s Maximilian Pegasus by the way, though I’m sure my staff has informed you. What brings you to my humble homestead? I can hardly believe such a lovely girl as yourself could possibly be roughing it as a fiercely competitive Pokemon trainer, though that was how you introduced yourself yes?” The questions continued on and on, until he was sure the poor girl would have to be dizzy by the sheer volume of it all. Even so, she seemed to maintain her equilibrium, and having finally laid out his first trick he sat back to await her move.

Mai had the grace to blush at the compliment given to her by this strange host, her fingers fluttering about her hair as she sought to regain her composure. Ever since he had walked into the room, Pegasus had thrown her off guard and she didn’t like it, not one bit. She was supposed to be the one in control here, not he. It was difficult to tell whether he was a master of games or simply a kooky millionaire with all the social grace one might expect of a person admitted to an insane asylum. Better to play it safe, she decided, choosing for now to continue the act of naïveté that she had donned upon entering the manor.

“But I am a pokemon trainer,” she responded, hands lightly brushing her belt, which held six pokeballs, each housing a creature. “I suppose it must be hard to believe, what with me looking such a mess and all. Mama told me that I’d never make it in time, but I didn’t listen. I just wanted to help her, and I thought that maybe the prize money would be enough. No one warned me of all the dangers of travel!” Working up a few tears, Mai continued her story between sobs, lamenting her stolen bike, the pick-pockets and pokemon thieves and the various men who had hassled her all throughout her trip.

“So you see, it was such a relief to stumble upon your gates. I never even stopped to consider that I might be a bother. I’m so sorry for intruding on your home and taking up your time. I’m sure you have better things to do than care for some silly girl.” She finished with a sniffle, dabbing at her eyes and nose with a tissue. Now it was time to wait and see how this Pegasus responded to her sob story. While she was no great actress, Mai was certain that she’d played her role convincingly. She even looked the part! The story of her journey, at the very least, had not been concocted from nothing, though parts of it may have been embellished.

What she hoped to gain from this, the blonde was still unsure. In truth, she played more for the game than for any actual personal gain, though it certainly made for a nice bonus. Judging from Pegasus’s actions, he too enjoyed the game. That or he was certifiably insane. She was betting on the former however. It was so terribly exciting to have someone to play with that she almost burst out into a grin then and there. With so many men it took little more than a wiggle of her hips and a shake of her chest to get them to do her bidding. What she longed for was a challenge. And if she lost? Well, it would certainly be a blow to her ego, but nothing worse could come of it and to Pegasus she was probably little more than an ant, soon to be forgotten. And if she won…well, she’d own more than a simple grooming salon.

Yes, this was shaping up to be great fun.

It was all Pegasus could do to contain his mirth at that fetching tale. Sure some elements might bare a smidgen of veracity, all lies being based upon a kernel of truth and all. Pokemon thieves were probably lost battles, hassling men merely flirtations gone awry. Still, this one could be fun, and other than eyeball a child's duel that seemed to have gone on hiatus, he had nothing better to do.

"You poor dear," Pegasus soothed, pouring the girl a glass of wine, one of his best vintages, which she graciously accepted. "All of this heartache, and for your lovely mother - for no one who bore you could be anything but - as well. I can hardly stand your pain, it tears at my soul like nothing I've ever known." Continuing with an almost wicked grin, "I of course would like to do what I can to help you, and your family of course. My private physicians are the best in the nation. Perhaps they would be able to assist with your ailing mother?"

Pegasus turned around, as he was unable to cover his smirk at the expression that crossed the blonde's face at that final statement. He had been certain that bit of her tale had been elaborated indeed, and her current visage erased any remaining semblance of doubt. Honestly, those relying on pity should learn always to rest on sob tales that can't be proven otherwise. Sure lying to a deli owner for a sandwich was one thing, but lying to a man capable of transporting the supposedly infirm to his estate, that was bigger game entirely. Still, he'd only wanted a moment of fun, and he wasn't going to just shove her off on account of this trifle.

"However," Pegasus continued, smoothing his expression and turning back to face her, "I can tell you aren't the type to accept charity." Pegasus sipped his wine as Mai's momentarily blanched features regained their normal pallor, having been given this unexpected out from her web of fallacies. "I'm sure then we'll just have to come to some other sort of arrangement, a manner in which I can lend you my aid, yet allow you to not feel indebted to me in any sense." Pegasus inwardly grinned again, at the idea of this trickster harpy feeling any sort of debt to anyone.

He wasn't sure what sort of game would be best to play right at the moment, he also didn't want to rush into one even if certainty struck. He meant to take his time, enjoy this for all it was worth. As it was, he had no engagements of interest on his calendar anytime in the near future. He ought to make the most of what few opportunities happened to deposit themselves on his doorstep, literally or otherwise.

((Deleted all my posts that weren't actual rp posts and just "please come back somebody posts." Taking up space that momentarily isn't necessary. Anyhow yay L-kun for finally giving in and posting for me again!!! I have NO idea where the ******** we are gunna go...hmm...maybe you should crash Kaiba into the building, hahaha...or find some reason for him to enter without creating rubble, I don't think a Kaiba would be capable of crashing, that would be a fail. This way we can totally never entertain a game at all, my goal in this rp was to never actually battle, because then I'd really have to go relearn pokemon, and that's work ^_~

Ok, ending ramble now...huzzah!))
