He didn't know what he thought of her. At all. Whatsoever. He was way too busy trying to make heads or tails of the situation on a whole to really figure out if he liked her or hated her. Something in side his mind was telling him that it was quite possible he both liked her and hated her. She was weird, she talked a LOT and something told him she was teasing him.

That, and she was looking him up. Her eyes were trying to read his tattoos, and for a moment, he felt horribly horribly naked (... or as naked as a lion could feel at any rate - he felt bare). He was, in fact, half considering the notion of crawling under that rock again, or perhaps, running off for the hills. He would have probably done so, had he not been sure he'd have gotten even more lost in the process.

Then, she was laughing at him.

Or rather, her eyes were laughing at him and they looked really pretty when they did that, though again, he was not admitting to this. Once more, he felt his body act on it's own and he took a step forward towards her before he stopped himself and froze over. He was finding that he wouldn't have REALLY minded it becoming nightfall... but that was because his mind was entertaining quite a few outcomes that he.... again, wasn't really ADMITING to.

Snapping out of his reverie, he blinked, "Uh...." mentally, he slapped himself before continuing after her, making sure to keep a SAFE distance from body contact, "Mother leads. She's an ela. Father was a rogue that visited the land. He fell in love but left. Then he returned after he sorted his feelings and... they recreated the wolf clan. I have a few sisters and... a couple of brothers. They're all boring. But mother gives the best baths."

He looked away embarrassed again. Oh god, why was he talking? He didn't do this whole 'talking' thing all that well. Argue? Sure! Shout? Yeah, whatever. But talking? .... geesus.

She listened to him as she went, liking the sound of his voice. Liking the way he spoke. It was blunt. To the point. Honest. There was no beating around the bush, no covering up. It was just there. No flowers, no prettying.

She smiled.

"They sound nice." She replied. "Maybe I'll get to meet them someday." She turned to look at him. "Your family almost sounds opposite to mine. My father is the Ela'wadiyian, born into the Shadow Clan a cub during the plague. Mother was the rogue, or ex-pridelander. She came here by chance and they fell in love." She sighed. "It's all so romantic, really."

She fell into step beside him. "I'm the only girl so far. Three brothers. They're all nice, though. Quieter than me, perhaps." She laughed. "But I've got more siblings on the way, so maybe I'll have a sister to take care of." She settled comfortably into the conversation. "You'll have to meet them, too. I think you'll like them. Kohana especially." Well...maybe. Kohana was a bit funny about males. "Just so long as you ignore his overprotectiveness. He thinks some big bad male is going to take me away." She smiled, teasing. "But you're not like that, are you, Wingu?"

His gaze slid towards her, remaining on her face as she spoke. Technically... if she was going to take him to his clan, she was going to have to meet them. Or at least some of them anyhow, so what she was saying was kind of.... kind of dumb. But somehow, while on most cases he would have stopped and pointed that out rather bluntly, for some odd reason, he was choosing to keep this notion to himself.

He'd never really paused for long enough to consider his own words before. He usually just said them, with no regard as to their consequences till it was too late. However, just this once, he had come to the mildly shocking revelation that he actually really liked her smile, and that telling her she was stupid might just ruin that smile and... he kind of didn't want that.

"Romantic?" he asked; in all honesty, he had no idea what there was to gush over. But then again, he'd always rolled his eyes at his parents, whom still kind of acted like love struck idiots when they thought they were alone. Hell, even when they knew they were NOT alone they did so, "My dad... says he wasn't a really good lion. He says he changed after he joined ela and stayed with mom. Says he was a bit of an idiot back then," conversation was getting vaguely easier, which was mildly confusing, "He's got green markings, here, and here too," he pointed to various sections of his body, knowing green was a rare color within the pride, "I look just like mom. Her mom was cloud marked too, she says."

As she continued talking though, a mild frown crossed his features, making him look as thundering as he had when she'd first seen him. Who was Kohana? Was that her sibling? It better be her sibling. The fact he was bothered by this was not really noticeable to him; he hadn't paused to analyse what he was feeling at that moment, and would have likely kept on scowling had she not addressed him. Once again, he was thrown for a hoop, "Uuuuuuh...." well, he wasn't particularly big, but... he was pretty bad company. And as far as 'stealing' her went, that was putting a rather imaginative trail of thoughts into his mind that he wasn't particularly appreciating at that moment, if his blushing was any indication, "I... don't know?" he finally settled with, looking flustered once more.
PostPosted: Mon Apr 13, 2009 2:08 pm

She glanced him out of the corner of her eye, glad that he was starting to loosen up a little. So this was the true him, not some shouty, angry thing that she'd first bumped into. He just needed coaxing out a little bit and then he was fine! Another success in the ways of friendship for Eeva!

"That's nice. To change and find yourself a new life. Makes you appreciate what you have a lot more. See, sometimes I don't think I appreciate how good life is here. How safe it is. How wonderful it is. There's others out there suffering through hardship, hardship I could never hope nor want to understand."

She let her eyes trail back to him as he pointed out where his father's marks were. "Green? Uh huh, I don't think green is all that common around here. All I've seen are different shades of browns and white. Not that I mind. Those colours are my favourites~!" She purred and giggled at his last response.

He didn't know?

"Then does that mean you want to steal me away?" She continued teasing. "Because if you want to, I wouldn't say no. It'd be an adventure, right? And I think you need an adventure. You could steal me, take me somewhere far away and then my brother could come and find us and you could battle and everything. Wouldn't that be cool, huh?"

Okay...now she was definately reverting to her childhood days. She seemed to realise it a moment later and sort of fluttered with embarrassment. "Or not, since big lions don't play games like that...apparently." She grumbled. "Anyway, I don't think you're a mean lion. You're bigger than me. But not big-BIG. I think I could maybe beat you in a fair fight."

And with a giggle she shoved sideways, hoping to knock her shoulder against his.

Really? Was it all that nice? Wingu just thought it was... well, honestly, he had never paused to think about that kind of stuff. That was because he was generally always angry over something or other, and because when he got angry, he made other people angry and it was just... one big ball of anger. His parents were about the only souls that ever put up with him as such, and in Wingu's mind, they did it because they were his parents. It was like their job to love him. That aside, they had never ending rivers of patience. Both of them. They were two of the only souls in the Wolf clan that had enough patience to not yell back at him and sooth him with calming words.

He had never really paused to think about those poor souls that had it worse off than he did. In fact, when he paused to think about, he actually had it pretty good indeed. So much so, that now that he was thinking about it, he was horribly embarrassed for being so childishly selfish. Eeva did a really good job of dragging his mind out of the hole he'd sunk it into with her next set of words. If possible, as she spoke, he looked even more mortified and horribly flustered than before, "I-I!! I didn't-!! .... I-I ....I!!" except he HAD just thought of 'stealing' her away, hadn't he? And if he hadn't, well, he sure as hell was now, if the way he blushed, even visible under his white pelt, was any indication.

Was she actually considering that?! Was HE?!

He was caught pondering this when she finally realised it was a childish notion and all he could do was gulp down whatever lump had risen in his throat (no, really, what the hell was WRONG with him?!), "I... I don't see why not," he finally rasped, coughing slightly in an attempt to gain back his bearing, "I've seen my mom and dad play games at times... mom talks about how she really liked the sea, and chasing father against the waves when the clan visited the shore one time," noticing he was rambling (in an attempt to comfort her no less!), he snapped his mouth shut. He had no time to ponder why he had risen to her metaphorical aid, because no sooner had he snapped his mouth, she shoved sideways at him. She got her wish, for her shoulder collided against his.

Unfortunately... he had been distracted by the earlier revelation, and when the force came, he lost his footing. To the point that when gravity came into action, it forced him sideways, and on instinct, he trashed in the opposite direction, trying to grab hold of whatever was near enough to keep his balance. Which... kind of happened to be Eeva herself; his fore paws gripped at her as he fell, he dragged her with him, landing them in a rather interesting position on the ground.

Though no less mortifying for Wingu, whom was torn between hoping she wouldn't, in fact, move for some reason, and burying himself six feet under.

She giggled at his embarrassment, at that expression on his face. So cute. So awkward. So unsure. She wondered briefly what was going on in his mind to bring such an expression about. Was he actually considering stealing her away just like she’d said? Or was there something else going on that she wasn’t aware of. She realised then that she didn’t really understand boys. Yes, she had friends who were boys. Nekoda. Sahale. Her brothers. Yet, did she really understand them? Understand them in the way that she could understand other girls. They seemed to work differently. See things in a different light.

“So, big lions do have adventures.” She added, mostly to herself. It was a comforting thought. So, if that was the case, she didn’t have to give them up entirely. Maybe she could still look forward to venturing into the unknown, doing crazy things. So long as the adventures didn’t end up with her getting hurt or worse, it’d be alright, wouldn’t it?

When her attempt at knocking into him succeeded, she gave an amused little laugh, intending on teasing him about how she had beaten him. Him! A boy no less! And then…a second later…she realised maybe she had shoved a little too hard.

Oops.

He was falling, flailing. She turned to him, maybe going to help stable him enough that he’d keep on his paws. But it was too late and he was reaching for her in an attempt to prevent the inevitable. He was going down. But apparently he wasn’t going down alone. No, he was going to drag her too! Hey, wait, that wasn’t fair at all! She gave a squeak of surprise as his paws found their place around her, his grip enough that she felt her own paws being tugged out from underneath her.

“Eek, Wingu!”

And then she was following him into a heap on the ground. However, her landing was soft, having landed on top of him instead of the rocky ground. Soft. Warm. Rather pleasant actually. The embarrassed laugh faded away, replaced by a sort of awkward silence. She blinked down at him, aware suddenly of their somewhat compromising position. This was…new. She blinked to clear the fogginess and found herself struggling for words – well, there’s a first time for everything! And it certainly was new. She had many friends and even though she had played and rolled with them in the dirt, there was something distinctly different about this one.

This handsome Wingu.

And for the first time since their meeting, her face grew hot and she felt oddly flustered.

“Um…sorry about that.” She replied, her ears folding down against her neck. “Are you…alright?”

Maybe she should move off of him now? Or…maybe not. He was quite comfy, after all!

This was an adventure.

One he wasn't entirely too sure he wanted to repeat. Tell truth, he was still horribly torn on that bit, unsure if he liked it (... there were some aspects he liked after all - the contact being one of them, though he was having a mighty hard time admitting this to himself), or was too embarrassed to care. Any other time, Wingu would have likely flailed and shoved the offending part straight off of him, howling curses left and right, but... something was keeping him rooted to the ground, his body stiff an unmoving.

It soon enough struck him that it was a horrible fear of him hurting her in any way that was stopping him from moving. That, and he actually didn't WANT her angry with him (logic was doing a good job of telling him that shoving her away was a great way to achieve anger in the smaller female). So thus, he was left with no option but to stay utterly still and blush several shades of red under his pelt (which he hoped she could not see - could she? Oh god....). It wasn't helping him one bit when the usually unfazed female became flustered; she'd been fiiiiine moments ago! Which HAD to mean he was going to get into trouble.

He shut his eyes, as if blocking the image of her would somehow help his case (not to mention avoid whatever violence she would surely dish on him). When it became obvious that ... it wasn't really helping (and no hit ever came), he dared peek open an eye to look up at her; she was still not moving and his mind was in a frenzy, "Uhhhh...." no, no he was not alright. Though technically this was due to entirely different reasons from being hurt, "Why.... why aren't you moving?" his voice was a whisper, as if he was fearing that lifting the tone would shatter the fragile... well, something, he wasn't sure what.

She felt warm. Warm in a way that she had ever felt before. It was the sort of warmth you could curl up in, fall asleep and dream sweet dreams. The kind of warmth that had you feeling safe and comfortable - shut away from all the bad things. Or atleast would have if there had been any bad things in Eeva's life - which there wasn't.

She liked being this close, liked watching his expression, seeing the details in his wonderfully vivid eyes. Eyes that suddenly closed and left her feeling slightly sad. But, a moment later and he opened one eye to peek at her. She found herself smilign again, despite herself, warming to the nervousness that seemed to be oddly infectious. For she felt nervous too and this was an emotion quite strange to a girl who was confident in pretty much everything she did - even if she was bad at it!

And then he asked her a question. A very good question. A question that was quite reasonable ask and yet impossible to answer.

Why wasn't she moving?

"Because..." She let the sentence hang for a moment. "Because I don't feel like it. You're comfortable and..."

Wait, wasn't she supposed to be helping him find his way home? But...but if she did that then she'd have to say goodbye and she might not be able to see him again.

"...You have very pretty eyes, you know."

Whyyyyy wasn't she moving?! What was going on? Had he missed something? WHAT was he supposed to be doing?!

As the questions raced through his mind unanswered, one after the other, Wingu dared peek open his other eye and just looked up at her, as if that simple motion could somehow shed light on what the ******** hell he was meant to be doing. Logic was still telling him to stay very, very still, and that the ball was in her court and thus... SHE should be the one doing something; he just had to be patient and wait for it.

Patience was not his thing however.

It had never been one of Wingu's strong points, and it likely never would be. That aside, her answer to his question was honestly NOT helping, and was not really shedding any light whatsoever on what the hell he had to do. Was he meant to just STAY still there and wait for her to get tired of him and leave or... was he meant to do something? Oh god, he had no clue - he'd never really spent any time with other people where he wasn't yelling, aside his parents, and siblings sometimes and... he could swear that this was NOT how he felt around THEM.

His ears perked, flattened back and then perked right up again as she mentioned his eyes being pretty. It was then that Wingu decided There Was No God. And if there were, whatever Gods were out there were having a mighty good laugh at him at that precise moment; he cursed them all mentally when he felt all the heat in his body rush up to his face and he lifted his paws in an attempt to conceal it from her, groaning under his breath. Concealing her from view was helping quell the need to lift his head up to touch his nose against hers again.

When he finally managed to get his mind out of second gear and at least suffocate the... need somewhat, he removed his paws from his face, "I think you have pretty eyes too," he said as he looked away, looking horribly embarrassed he was admitting to this, "I think you have pretty ... everything, really," it was not in his nature to lie after all, for better or worse, "I...uhm... uh, can you get off me?" he paused, "Please?" wow, was that the first time he'd ever used that word? "I kind of... I think you should get off because..." because what? How was he supposed to explain that she was making it VERY difficult not to react to her? "I might do something to make you mad and I kind of don't want that."
PostPosted: Fri Apr 17, 2009 7:33 am

If he knew how happy his compliments made her he might think that she’d never been complimented before. Sure, she’d been called a good friend, even pretty. But that was mainly by people she knew well, her family. Not cute boys she hardly knew. She smiled and murmured a quiet, sheepish thank you.

Then he asked her to get off and she gave a little chirp of disappointment. But what was she going to do? Just stay here all day? Forever? No, that wasn’t really very practical, was it? She gave a small sigh and pulled herself up onto her paws, stepping away to give him enough room to stand himself. She watched him quietly, thoughtfully, and wondered what was different about him. Maybe it was just because she didn’t know him all that well. Then she smiled and shook the confusion away. “Don’t worry about that. I don’t think I’ve ever been mad in my life. You’d have to do something really bad to make me angry and I don’t think you would do that.”

She glanced at him through half-lidded eyes. “I think you just think that you’re not a very nice lion to be around. I think you’re being too hard on yourself. I think that lots of people would want to be your friend if you just gave them the chance. So I’m going to be your friend and give you that chance, okay?” She smiled cheerfully. “Anyway, where were we? Getting you home, right?” She paused and glanced around them. “Do you recognise any of this place at all? Are we any closer?” She drew in a deep breath, hoping to find the scents of other lions. Yes, perhaps there were others who had passed close.

“Come on, Wingu. If we keep dawdling like this, we’ll never get you home.” But at the same time she didn’t want him to find home. She didn’t want to say goodbye. This would be a long journey to make if she ever wanted to see him again, especially for her. When she was fully grown, she wouldn’t be able to just up and leave her clan as she was doing now.

She released a long sigh and moved on.

Aaaaaand she was still on him. Thanking him, no less. And looking pretty.

He was still horribly torn on what to make of the situation when she finally pulled away from him and he was left with another dilemma. He was not torn between feeling grateful she had finally pulled away and feeling horribly disappointed. Shoving those thoughts and feelings to the very back of his mind for later analyzing them (or perhaps he''d ignore them forever, he wasn't sure yet), he pushed himself off the ground and shook himself off. His eyes trailed over to her and it was obvious that he... wasn't really agreeing with her; in his mind, what he had wanted to do would have probably made her mad, no butts or doubts about it.

He also chose not to comment on him not being a particularly good soul; after all, she was offering to be his friend and hell, who the ******** was he to try and stop her! She was more than welcome to be his friend! He felt himself heat up mildly at the thought and turned to look away from her once more, "You can do whatever you want," he told her firmly, his gaze looking everywhere but her. Honestly... no, one did not recognise the terrain, but that was mostly due to the fact he was horrible at that type of stuff. Thus so, his answer was a stupid, "Uhhh...." since he didn't particularly want to admit that he had no idea where he was.

It was right about then that he heard a voice in the distance, and a form as equally white as his began to differentiate itself from the scenery, "Wingu!" the form called as it finally seemed to recognise him. Apparently, Tsi'hilu had been out looking for her son. The form soon enough broke into a pleasant trot and headed their way; it was a white lioness, and despite her being older than Eeva, she was no larger than she was, "There you are, honey, did you get lost again?" the male slouched slightly and looked upset that he had indeed gotten lost again. Slowly, the lioness turned to Eeva then and smiled, "Were you helping him? He has no sense of direction I'm afraid..."

"MOM!"

The female looked horribly innocent, "What?" it was true!
PostPosted: Fri Apr 17, 2009 10:49 am

"Whatever I want?" She asked, blinking. A moment later and a mischievious smile crawled its way across her face. Anything? She thought of all the ays she could tease him or pounce him or push him over or...

But that was mean, wasn't it?

No. It wasn't mean if you didn't have any mean intent. She just wanted to play and he looked as if he was in need of some company, poor guy. Besides that, she was looking for an excuse to get close to him again. She needed an excuse! She couldn't just go leap at him again randomly. Or...could she? She could just say it was a game and that would be it. Off the hook!

And then a voice called out for him. A female voice.

Her had whipped round and suddenly, appearing as if by magic, there was a white female. An adult female, maybe around her mother's own age. The comparison between the two was clear and she knew who this lioness was instantly. Wingu's mother. She stood silently as the female drew nearer and listened to her words with a faint smile. She was a loving sort. She clearly adored her son. And then suddenly the female looked up at her and she blinked, letting her smile widen. "That's right. He wasn't a happy boy when I found him so I told him I'd help him find his way home." She teased lightly. "I'm Eeva Subiani. Shadow Clan. Nice to meet you." She bowed her head a little, reminded of her manners. "I'm a little further out than normal, but I'm glad I happened across Wingu. He's a good sort." Her eyes flickered to him, watching, waiting.

Tsi'hilu chuckled softly at the girl's words, "Is he now?" he was her son, and she knew his good point as well as she did his bad ones and thus, knew he was in fact a good soul. She had no idea why he even tried to hard to appear like a jerk when he wasn't one, "Well, seems you know what I've known all along then," she gave the young female a small nod with her head, "I'm Tsi'hilu Waya of the Wolf clan. My son here... he lacks a sense of direction. When he wasn't home to enjoy the recent kill I came out to search for him. Thank you so much dear."

The male turned his head away from them and still looked horribly, horribly embarrassed by the whole situation, "M'sorryIdon'thaveabettersenseofdirection," he murmured under his breath, and while he was trying very hard to look sour... he simply seemed unable to manage it for some reason. He had tentatively... happy despite his embarrassment, which was a new feeling for him.

Again Tsi'hilu smiled, then reached forward to nuzzle her son before looking at the female, "Are you able to get back to your clan by yourself then, love?" she seemed amused to have found out her son had actually been in the company of someone that seemed happy to be with him, but was keeping these thoughts to herself. For now, "Or do you need me to accompany you? I know these lands like the back of my paw," she'd been roaming it since she was a cub.
PostPosted: Fri Apr 17, 2009 12:04 pm

She watched the interaction between them and suddenly felt a desire to be back home herself. Back with her own mother and father. It was a silly thought, she knew, but she adored her parents more than anything. Family was so important.

Family and Clan, for Clan was family. And she sighed, knowing that her love and dedication for them would eventually have her clipping her wings. But it was a sacrifice she had to make, and would make, because it was her purpose in life.

And...there were no other girls in the Clan to take up the mantle.

She nodded and smiled. "No problem. I made a friend today so it was all worth it." She cast her eyes towards the 'new friend' and smiled at his awkwardness.

And then it was happening. Time to leave was drawing nearer and she felt a sudden sadness that this was how things were meant to be. It seemed cruel somehow, to tell him she was going to be his friend and not be able to come and see him so often. And with his terrible sense of direction, would he be able to come and see her when she was not able to leave the lands? The sadness grew into a cold, hard ball in her stomach and she swallowed back the emotion in an attempt to put on a brave face.

"I think I should be okay, thank you, Tsi'hilu. I have travelled quite a bit and if I retrace my steps I'll come out onto a better known path. And if the worst comes to the worst, my father will send out a search party." She laughed, but the sound faded quickly. She turned back to Wingu, tilting an ear towards him.

"Um...Wingu..." What was she going to say? That she'd try her best and come back to see him? That was probably the best way to say it. She didn't want him to think that she'd be coming everyday or anything...even if she did want to. "I'll try and come by and see you again soon, okay?"

"If you're sure dear," the lioness told her, then nodded and turned away from them, "I'll get a head start then, Wingu, I'll be waiting," for some odd reason, she felt the two needed a few moments alone. She had been young like they were once, and she could still remember the day he had met Nyota. Honestly, despite having been taken by curiosity even from that first meeting, she hadn't thought she'd see the male again, for he was a rogue, and rogues tended to come and go where the wind took them.

She had never expected the male to come back, time and time again just to see her, "Don't worry too much, dear, we linger this land. The clans meet often. You'll see each other soon," that said, she walked off a short distance, her steps slow as she waited for her son, unwilling too move TOO far in case the cloud marked male got distracted and ... got himself lost again. Heavens knew it could happen.

Wingu watched his mother go and then turned to face the girl again. He felt horribly... disappointed? Upset? No... those weren't the words he was looking for. In fact, he wasn't even sure what word he was looking for to describe how he felt. Bittersweet was the one that most seemed to describe his feelings at that moment; that and regret. He was now regretting not having DONE anything back when he had the change to reach out to her. Words only went to far. Words were not forever; actions were. Thus, that in mind, he grabbed hold of whatever shreds of courage he still had after the whole ordeal and padded forward in a couple of swift movement.

His cheek found hers and he nuzzled her innocently, rubbing his head against her, "I'll see you soon then," he whispered as he turned his head to offer her one fast lick along her cheek before pulling away. If he'd not been embarrassed before, he sure as hell was now, alas, it had been worth it, for he'd finally done what he'd been wanting to do since practically the start. He stayed there a moment further before he realised what he'd done and jumped, almost as if startled, "I... uhm, BYE!" courage spent, he turned around and raced after his mother, catching up to her within moments.

He'd be waiting for her to come. It didn't really matter to him how long it took her to do so.
