He nodded slowly to answer her question. It was indeed a small tree. His eyes wandered over it as he tried to decide where to start his investigation. As he worked to make up his mind a bit of movement caught his eye. Turning his head ever so slightly he saw his celestial companion making her way over to the tree. All he could do was stare at her for a while. Perhaps she was as curious about the trees as he was?
As she signaled for him to follow he sighed. It was too much to hope that she had taken an interest like the one he had. Nevertheless it was fairly clear that the odd little tree was not a threat. Brioso was, after all, standing right next to it and was very much alive. With a flick of his tail he crept over to the tree, circled the base of it once then stopped by the filly.
If he were to balance on his hind legs he would be able to reach a budding branch with ease. "It's good." He said turning his attention to her for a moment. Then he gave her a smile and reared back. His tail waved about a bit before freezing in place to act as added balance for the colt. He stood where he was for a moment before leaning forward slightly to set his hooves on the tiny trunk before him.
From where he was he could see the buds on the branches. Just getting this far gave him a sense of satisfaction but it hadn't given him any answers. Not yet anyway. He would find them now that he had a way to see thanks to Brioso.

"I'm glad..." A look of satisfaction crossed the filly's face, and she beamed happily at Lamb. Of course, she was curious about the way he was examining the tree... It was like he was looking for something on the branches. She observed him for a while, trying to figure out what he was looking for; however, she soon gave up. He was too silent, and there was nothing to work on.
Pausing, she hesitated, but finally, curiosity got the better of her. Trotting over to stand beside him again, she looked up at Lamb, "Are you searching for something? Answers to a question, maybe?" It was a random guess; ether way, if he said yes, it would be another chance to help him out! Despite his quietness, she was growing rather fond of adventuring with the foal.

Peering at the buds he suddenly felt the impulse to sniff at them. To do so he pushed off the trunk of the tree and hooked his forelegs over the limb he was investigating. He leaned forward to smell them when Brioso's voice reached his ears making them twitch. He turned his head to look down at her with a somewhat confused look on his face. For a moment he couldn't quite comprehend what she was saying, part of his mind was still working out the mysteries of the tree. Then all of a sudden he understood.
He smiled and flicked his tail wit a nod of his head. The motion made him wobble a bit and he went still going as far to hold his breath until he steadied. Once he stabilized he let out the breath he was holding and leaned forward. Gently he sniffed at one of the buds before he brought his mouth down around it and bit it off.
Then he released the tree and dropped to the ground with a rather heavy thud. The feeling in his front legs was somewhat unpleasant but he shook it off and turned about to face the filly. He bowed bringing his head the ground before depositing the bud at her feet for her to see. "I'm searching for answers..." He said nosing the little green tree bit gently to indicate what answers he was looking for. Perhaps she was curious about it after all. Wonderful. Maybe she could help with his investigation.
He took several steps back so that he stood with only specks of sunlight on his coat. Lamb offered her a polite smile as his tail wrapped around one of his hind legs lazily. He then watched her with a steady stare. His eyes almost seemed to glow from the patches of light around his eyes.

"What's this?" Brioso tilted her head in slight confusion, before she bent down to examine the bud close-up. Now that she was able to take a closer look, it does look... Small, in comparison to the tree. Weren't there little green things sticking out of some of the trees in the forest too? Like the one at the edge, where she first met Lamb. Tilting her head over to the other side, the filly's curious eyes never left the bud.
When she finally looked up, the female shook her head gently, feeling a little giddy. Then, she turned her attention to Lamb, "Um... Is it not meant to be like this?" She looked up at the canopy, where the larger trees' branches were covered mostly with leaves rather than buds, and gave a nod, gesturing to them.
"Did all of them used to be like that? With the leaves?" She asked, her eyes wide and her voice carried a tinge of fascination as she continued, her head still tilted upwards to look at the canopy, "I just started exploring the world not too long ago. I thought they had always been like this."

He watched her closely as she began her own investigation. For a moment he thought she had something and then she looked up and spoke. Lamb let out a bit of a defeated sigh. She didn't know any better then he did. To give her an answer he shrugged and unwound his tail before making his way over to her.
He didn't know why some trees had buds while others carried leaves when they hadn't held either when he had been born. From what he knew leaves were always on the ground not on trees. Had they all started like the leafy trees? He shook his head and looked around by their feet. Finding a leafless twig he picked it up and deposited it by Brioso's feet in much the same manner as he had with the bud. Then he sneezed and shook his head. The little branch had been covered in dirt from being on the ground.
"Used to be like that one." He said once the uncomfortable feeling in his nose was gone. He stood back to let her get a close look at the twig and also gave himself a bit of time to think. If she thought that they were always like this then she hadn't been around during the snow. Interesting. To her this was normal but to him the bare limbs were. Something in the back of his mind was telling him there was some detail he was overlooking, but what?

She blinked at the branch, frowning a little; trees used to be leaf-less? That was weird... She had thought that trees came with leaves, some more than the others. Of course, she hadn't noticed the buds before, but when Lamb pointed it out, she was sure they came with the leaves too... But he said otherwise. There was definitely something wrong with the trees - maybe they were sick before? Or someone stole the leaves and returned them with the buds.
"If... If they used to be bare before I came out of my basket," The female muttered, looking at the small tree in front of her before turning to the other foal, "And the leaves came back, together with the buds, when I did come out of my basket... Maybe something happened between the two times? Did anything happen, Lamb?"

His eyes wandered between the twig and the bud as Brioso spoke. At first nothing she said was all that beneficial and then she struck verbal gold. Pink eyes widened with a sudden thought as his eyes jumped from the bud to the leafy trees. Something had happened between the time when she had been born in to a world of leaves and when he had been born in a dead world. "Buds!" He said quite excitedly. The feline tail of his was swishing about and a smile was creeping over his face.
What the celestial filly hadn't seen was that in the time between the leaves and bare branches the buds had began showing up on nearly everything. "The buds bring the leaves." For a brief fleeting moment the mystery was solved. Until, that was, another thought hit him. He still had no idea why the buds came out and brought the leaves.
Lamb's face fell like a waterfall. All that work and he still had no idea why it happened. All he knew was the order that it happened in. What a semi-depressing thought it was. His tail stilled and fell limply behind him before the colt hung his head slightly shaking it slowly. "No good."

"Buds?" She echoed, still very much confused. As she watched and listened to Lamb, however, her eyes slowly widened as she begun to understand his excitement. Nodding, the filly grinned, looking at the trees around her with mild excitement, "Ah, I see! So the leaves didn't just suddenly come back... They came from the buds!"
Thus, when Lamb became disappointed, Brioso didn't know why. She frowned, wondering what he meant by 'No good'. Wasn't the mystery solved? She turned to look at the brunch on the ground, trotting over to it as she studied it. Then, she sighed, turning to return to her previous position, still unable to figure out what her friend was trying to say.
"No good? What did he mean by that?" She muttered under her breath, feeling slightly irritated at herself. It was then that she remembered Lamb's real question - He didn't wish to know where the leaves came from, but why they came... The buds didn't explain that at all, so it didn't answer the question. Her face changed to one of disappointment as well, but she forced a smile at the colt.
"Lets try our best again! Did anything else change between this time and that?"

Lamb was feeling a bit defeated at the moment. He had been so sure that they had found the answer only for it to be the answer to the wrong question. It was a bit disheartening. Still he listened as the female moved about piecing things together for herself. When he heard her speak again he lifted his head looking rather confused. She was smiling, still, though based on what she said she understood what he meant. Wasn't she upset about it in the slightest?
After staring at her for a long while he shrugged his shoulders. He had been planning to give up but if Brioso, who had nothing to gain from this really, hadn't lost hope then why should he? "Got warm. Snow melted." His voice was rather disinterested now. He wouldn't abandon the hunt completely but he was still upset about it. The energy he was willing to put into it now suffered as a result.
He shrugged once more before plopping down on the ground. He curled his tail around his side and lay his head down so that the twig and bud were still in his view. All the information he had access to really was now right in front him which meant he wouldn't have to move. He could be as upset as he wanted and still work right here.

"Snow... What's that?" The filly blinked curiously, flicking her tail as she stared at Lamb. Seeing her new friend so disheartened made her even more determined to find the answer. After all, heroines are there to save others and make their day! If she is to become a great heroine in the future, its good to start small. Still smiling, she flopped down directly in front of Lamb, the branch between them.
Not waiting for an answer, she continued, feeling a little excited again, "If this snow thing melted because it was getting warmer, maybe the trees did the same with their leaves! Except leaves don't melt, at least I don't think they do..." She paused, trying hard to visualize melting leaves; however, it was something she just couldn't visualize. Shaking her head, she looked up at the canopy, "Instead, the trees make these buds that somehow produce the leaves..."
She paused, her eyes widening as she leapt up suddenly, "Hey, now that you mentioned it, when I came out of my basket, it was a little colder than now and there were less leaves on the trees! Maybe leaves don't like the cold or something, and thus vanish to hide when this... 'Snow' is around. When it gets warm again, however, they reappear!"

Snow. It had been one of his first ventures in to the world outside of his basket. It had been the first clear sign that he was different and not just because of his tail. "It's cold white water." He muttered quietly well aware that she wasn't waiting to be answered. She was, after all, already talking again. Which didn't bother him. She seemed to process everything externally while he was more internal with his thought processes.
He quirked an eyebrow as she relayed her hypothesis about melting leaves to him. It was an interesting thought but it was one that really made no sense. There were leaves on the ground after all. If they had melted wouldn't they just be puddles. Furthermore things melted when they got warm but the leaves were gone during the cold and coming back with the warmth. It was backwards. The filly had come to the same conclusion he had about the leaves not melting. Good. He wouldn't want to explain that one, it would involve a lot of talking.
When she jumped his tail shot straight out and he went rigid like a log in shock. His heart skipped a beat and his breath caught in his throat until the need for oxygen overcame his stunned body. With eyes narrowed in a clear 'would you not do that' expression he listened to her next thought. Surprisingly this one seemed to make some sense.
"Hmmm...possible..." He said getting to his feet slowly. His eyes wandered over to the little tree and then to the larger ones surrounding them. If they didn't like the cold then obviously they wouldn't like the icy water on them. With a large smile her turned back to Brioso. "Probably and acceptable!" He declared cheerfully. The answer made enough sense, the mystery seemed to be solved for now. If further evidence presented itself he would re-examine it. Until then, "Good job, Brioso." He bowed his head low in thanks. He couldn't have done it without her.

{Guess we can end this soon, since they somewhat solved the mystery. x3 It was really fun rp... I'll love to do another one when they're older or something. <3}
The filly nodded happily, her tail swinging quickly from side to side as she grinned. 'Yes! Another job well done, Brioso!' She thought to herself as she bowed her head back at Lamb. She would have shouted it out, together with a cheer, but decided against it when she considered how quiet her friend was; she didn't feel like startling him twice in a single day.
"You're very welcome," She looked up, a smile on her lips, "However, if not for you, I wouldn't have found out this either... And about the thing called 'snow'." She nodded to herself, making a mental note to ask her parents about it when she returns home; it sounded fascinating that water could be cold and white.

((Sounds like a plan to me. ^^ It's been a pleasure rping with you and I'd love for them to meet again when they're older. ))
It seemed his companion was every bit as pleased as he was at the moment. Though he got the distinct feeling that she was holding back. The celestial filly was an excitable one so her reaction was not quite as extreme as he had been expecting. That could, however, be counted as a wonderful thing indeed so he made no comment on it.
He did feel the need to comment on what she said. It was a rare treat. He would speak without really needing to. "That is true. Without me, though, you wouldn't have cared to know." He smiled lightly his tail swaying from side to side. "The discovery is really all thanks to you. Only the question came from me." He nodded a few times hoping that this all made sense to her. It was possible it would only confuse her but he imagined she had a good mind so the possibility felt slim.
He then fell back into his silent thoughts keeping the smile on his face. Brioso was quite valuable. She was smart and saw things differently then he did, a bit more plainly then he did which led to things that he often overlooked. One day he would probably seek out her help with more of his mysteries. For now, however, this one was solved and he needed to return home before his mother panicked and sent his father after him.

{Its been a pleasure for me too. ^^ A very fun filled first encounter!}
Brioso looked up at the sky through the canopy, and her eyes widened; she didn't realize that it was getting this late... She should head home before her parents start wondering where she is. Looking at Lamb, she guessed that his parents must be worried too, if he do not go home soon.
She smiled, her tail wagging slightly as she turned, walking towards the way they came, "I'll come find you again soon, but I guess its time for us to go home." She paused, her smile widening at the prospect of seeing her friend again, "The next time we meet, lets race through the jungle! See you again soon, Lamb."
With that, and again without waiting for a reply, she galloped off and out of sight. He can reply her when they meet again.

A race? He gave a slight fond at the thought as he watched the filly's retreating form. Perhaps the next time they met he would indulge her request. After all she had assisted him greatly today. His dark pink eyes drifted over to the no longer mysterious budding tree and he flicked his tail. Yes, he would go along with it next time and he was fairly certain there would be a next time.
When he could no longer see her he bowed his head and turned away. It was time he headed hom as well before his mother panicked and his father came after him. Silently he slipped off through the forest his long tail swishing behind him with every step.
