Chris smiled, showing those white tusks of his a lot like he had as a child. "Good," he said. "I mean, I wouldn't mind being a few hundred pounds lighter and able to fit through doors better, but we deal with the hand God dealt us."
Then he glanced around. "How fast do you swim?" he asked.

"Pretty fast, especially underwater becuase my head his shaped to make the water move for me" there was a word for it but Rook had forgotten.
" Who's God?", he'd heard the name from time to time when his mother was mad and occasionally on tv but he didn't actually know who God was.

Chris looked at him, wondering how to put it. "God's ah... well... He's the guy that made everything at the beginning of time. He's a spirit, I guess you could say, one who makes sure everything's running and planets aren't knocking into one another."

" He sounds very important" Rook wondered why he'd never really heard about him, or why his mother used his name when she was mad. maybe he did a bad job of keeping everything proper.

"Yeah," Chris said. "I suppose He is." He glanced at the cabbage, making sure it was happy. "I guess it wouldn't be too bad if it wasn't a girl," he said a bit quietly. Rook wasn't such a bad kid, after all. But still...
"Have you figured out what you are, yet?" he asked the boy curiously.

Rook shook his head " No but I know more things now " he motioned to them gems on his head and arm that were surrounded by strange gold decoration " They glow when I change and when I'm around magical things." The boy gave a small smile " I think.. I think I can change things that are magic" It hadn't been much but he'd made Joey's pendant go from being light purple crystal to being a darker one that reminded him of Galleai and that had been an accident.

"Yeah? That's pretty cool," Chris said. "I'm about as magically inclined as a rock," he added a bit proudly. "Couldn't even bend a spoon with my mind, much less change something. I'm pretty lousy on the spiritual end as well. Can't see ghosts, dead people, demons, or anything else interesting."
He floated slightly, leaning back. "Guess the strength thing is enough, huh?"

" If you were strong and magical then nothing could stop you." Rook pointed out. He was strong himself but not more than his mother, he could haul out bags of garbage but couldn't lift the sofa alone if he wanted to vacuum under it. His tail was pretty strong though he could stack must of the weighted pool rings on it without a problem.

"Probably," Chris admitted. "But I'm actually pretty easy to stop," he went on. "I mean, all it takes is a word most of the time." It was, as has often been said before, a very good thing that Chris had such a calm personality. A bit sarcastic once in a while, but not outright violent.
Although he had hit Antony upside the head once with his tail. The memory made him bite back a laugh.

Rook smiled and leaned so he could float on his back but still look at Chris " Is it hard? I meant not just when you're angry but normally is it hard to be so strong and not want to use it?" Rook didn't know if he'd ever be able to change magical objects on command but the boy was sure that he wasn't above exploding a vial of magical bubbles in some of his classmates faces. he was normally gentle but he wasn't above hate or revenge

For a long moment Chris was silent. His eyes seemed to glow a bit as he recalled the past. "You've held an egg before, right?" he said finally. "All you have to do is hold it a bit too hard and it'll break, you know? Well when I was little, everything was like an egg to me."

Ahh, well that made sense and must have been so very frustrating for the other boy. " Do you hope your sibling is different?"

Chris looked at the cabbage. "Yeah," he said quietly. "I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Where you've got to worry about hurting the ones you love if you're not careful, where you're more worried about the ground when you fall than you are about yourself. Where people want to use you for their own gain... Nah, it's best not to be outstanding. Just means you stand out too much."

Rook was silent as he thought about that, his own troubles were nothing to shrug off but Chris seemed to have experienced so much more and have more problems. Still the bigger boy seemed happy except when talking about it and Rook wondered how he actually dealt with it.

"Hey, now," Chris said abruptly. "It's not like I can't deal with it. And I've got this," he added, reaching up and touching the gold chain on his ear. "This cuts down my strength by a ton. I don't have as much trouble as I could thanks to it. I got it from the magicians at Liberty, so if you have problems with your magic you could probably go there as well."
