The annoying filly was looking at him weird, did he have something on him? Thackery glanced back for a moment then shrugged. "I've seen ground thats brown, white and black, and ground is made from dirt!" He shook his head again. "I don't like to eat mushrooms... and you still aren't purple anyway."

"Well if you are really purple, then I don't look like dirt! Thats like calling my dad dirt too, and he doesn't look like it either. I've seen white ground by the water before, and black ground... well I don't remember where exactly but I know I've seen it!" Thackery stomped the ground, this filly was so annoying, no wonder she didn't seem to know any other foals. "At least bugs and birds have brains, where are trees and flowers don't!"

"That ain't dirt or ground! thats sand! Parts of the river has sand and daddy says that this thing called the sea has sand to. And there is no black dirt. Maybe cause your eyes are so weird you can see right." She stomped back. No wonder this little colt's family wasn't around. He was infuriating! "Hay! I'd watch your mouth if i were you!" Ok now she was getting mad. How are he! Did he want his family to starve! You never say something so horrible! "Without trees or flowers you wouldn't have food and the bugs and birds wouldn't have a home! You must be stupid if you'd insult the stuff you eat! do you want your family to die or something?" She looked at him with annoyance and confusion.

"I know what sand is and its a type of ground, its the same thing as dirt! I've too seen black dirt, its real. My eyes are normal, just different colored." Thackery shook his head in frustration, was the filly always like this. "Its not like you are a tree... And I don't want them too, at least we can fly to the high branches and get the good fruit. The trees can't understand words at all!" He stomped the ground again, he'd leave but he couldn't. Something was at stake, his intelligence perhaps and he had to defend it.

Man, you are stupid." She snorted and rolled her eyes. She needed to just smack him or something! Maybe then his tiny brain would get it. "They can understand plenty."

"I can tell you aren't one, but you are kind of colored like one, so you are probably as smart as them. Trees and stuff can't hear though, so how do they know what I am saying." Thackery knew that trees didn't have brains because well they should be able to walk and stuff like them. "I've never seen a tree understand, show me one and I might believe you."

"I can't show you, stupid, it takes time. And i'm not stupid like you." She snorted. As if she was going to risk starvation to prove this little brat wrong. "They don't have to act like us to be able to understand. They hear everything you'll ever say. Like when you don't walk on the grass, its happy and thankful and will grow bigger so you can eat it. And when you give a tree some water it will be thankful and give you more apples." She was really getting serious, and a little worried, about the little colt. He was going to make his whole family starve and if they died...man would she feel guilty. Then again, she tried to warn him...and they, being his family, wouldn't know her so she couldn't get in trouble. Hmm...She was already planning ways to make sure everyone knew she didn't know the colt and why his family up and died of lack of food.

"Stop calling me stupid, I'm not!" He was getting frustrated because normally he'd be the one bothering someone, namely his brother, and was never picked on himself. Yet some of what she said sounded possible, but trees still didn't have brains and stuff like them. "Wouldn't the grass be more happy if we didn't eat it... it kind of sounds like they might understand." Thackery swished his mane back and forth. "So they can understand what we say even if they don't have minds, thats odd."

"No, cause when we eat the grass we help more grass grow and then we die and even more grass grows, so in the end, if we eat the grass it will get to eat us and its ok with that. Same thing with trees. But trees don't need their apples so thats why they drop them. But once they fall they arn't good anymore so you have to get them before they fall. I guess your lucky like that, cause you can fly and all. But i got fluffy hair that can catch them before they hit the ground and go splat! And it is NOT ODD. Your the odd one. Black eyes and butterfly wings. Bird brain." She couldn't help it. She had to insult him. She just had to. It was to much fun and to entertaining. He reacted. And that was always fun.

Thackery's bright eyes blinked. "Wait... so I'm eating dead things? I don't want others eating me one day! But that makes sense I guess..." His little wings fluttered for a moment. "Yeah, I can get all the good fruit now that I learned to fly, I guess your hair would work. I can't be odd, cause your are calling my momma and dad odd too! And all flutters!"

"And creepy. why would anyone wanna make babies with your kind? Like bugs, you are." Back to the bug thing. Sheesh, she was running out of material! Ah well, it worked, it worked.

"Thats kind of creepy, just like your hair." Thackery stomped the ground with one foot. "Because we can't. My momma says that I'm perfect like how I am. And you are calling her weird, which isn't nice." His face scrunched together. "Well my parents did. Who would want to have creepy cloud haired foals like you. You're mean..." Thackery was frustrated by the filly but didn't want to leave, he had to try to defend his momma at least.

Forest flattened her ears. "Take that back!" She said, her voice low. She stepped towards him. "Take it back!" She repeated, her voice growing in volume. Her eyes stung a bit and she wasn't sure why. "...my parents want me..." Her voice was quiet now, uncertain. "So take it back" She finished, not much force behind it. She liked her hair but being the only foal with it she felt, at times, that it made her to diffrent from her sisters.

Thackery took a step back when the other foal's ears flattened, slightly taken aback by her reaction. At first he thought she meant about the mean comment. He hadn't said anything worse than she did, he didn't yell at her. It took a moment for him to think, he did not mean to make her upset he was just playing some. Thackery thought of what to say. "Well, of course they wanted you." He sighed for a moment. "I'm, umm, sorry I said that."
