"Ahaha..." Damian's poor heart started racing as she unbuttoned his shirt so slowly. Perhaps without meaning to, he snatched her hands in his just to make her stop and to prevent anything embarrassing from happening. "Th-that can stay on... I'm fine, I swear. I just need sleep."
Damian pecked her upon her cheek before pulling himself on the bed more, and finding a pillow. How... glorious it felt, to be in a real bed and sinking into the sheets. "Your purpose should be to make yourself healthy, and happy. Not fuss over me like you're some kind of servant girl..." he said, sleep already beginning to take him.
The books were sandwiched between them for a moment before Lorey blushed a lovely pink. "By becoming smart," she said quietly. "Knowing things... seeing the worlds in here that I've been missing for so long... Would you help me, Richard?" It would be as simple as talking with her about what she read or helping her with certain words, but how she just wanted to join the world in this great knowing.

Raquel sat on the edge of the bed still, not sure of what she had done at first. hen it hit her and she blushed in embarrassment. She hadn't meant to ...ah well it was already done and as he pecked her cheek. She sighed as he fell back onto the bed and began losing consciousness. She furrowed her brow and touched her cheek gently before standing. "I'm sorry..." She said, her back turned as she grabbed her things to leave. Though she wasnt sure what she was sorry for. Sorry that she was behaving inadequately, for being naive, or for not being as great as Lorey...or perhaps all of the above. She turned to grab the door to shut it before glancing up at him once more. "Sleep well..." She said quietly, shutting the door until it latched.
Richard Sighed realizing this would really make her happy. Kissing her nose he smiled. "Of course my dear....anything for you. Knowing you, I doubt it'll take you long to read all these and become the most intelligent well read beautiful woman in all of veratia...perhaps even the universe..." His eyes sparkled as he looked a t her. How he loved her so unconditionally. It made him so happy, so alive so... he couldn't describe it. He just felt so complete when he was with her.
Raquel was tired so simply picked the room next to his, opening the door to reveal a stunning room, mostly in white though to her delight, with a touch of green accent here and there. A large white fluffy bed lay close to the center, and it had a large bay window with a window seat like couch underneath it with a glorious view. She barely shut the door behind her, leaving it cracked as she came inside all the way. She placed her guitar case in one corner of the room while slowly taking out and hanging up the various clothes Damian had purchased for her. She hung each of them up with care, taking note of how beautiful each dress and item of clothing was as began adding to the large closet that was now hers. It was her. This room...this closet ...these clothes. Damian said they were all hers. But were they really? She felt they belonged to him. He had purchased them with his money. Why should she have possession of it all then? With a sigh, she hung the last bit up before closing the closet door. She gingerly touched the bed, seeing how soft it was. though, despite how tired she was, she couldn't get herself to lay in such a fine bed in such a fine room. It wouldn't feel right to her. At least not yet. Instead, she settled for stretching herself out on the window seat, letting the warmth of the late afternoon sun drench over her body as her eyes closed. To any passer by, she looked peaceful but out of place, a bit odd if you will. Damian was right when he said she deserved to be happy, but it would just take her awhile to see that for herself.

"Thank you," was all she could say to the at first. "Could we start now?" Lorey looked over to a large arm chair that seemed fit for two people at least. Her blue eyes looked to Richard with the question if maybe they could sit together to read. Even if he didn't want to read with her, maybe he could help while she stumbled over bigger words. It would be a start, not only to her self-education but to a new beginning.
---
Damian slept for hours. Dreams flitted in and out of his mind's eye, none of them comforting or good. It had maybe been six hours at least before he had the most horrific one... the one of Raquel being hurt by men he did not know. She cried, she screamed, she bled. And he could do nothing but watch, as if some great pane of glass had been raised between them. Not even his own cries and screams could make it past his throat, though his dream self tried so hard to. It wasn't until he realized that the mute tenseness of his throat was an actual tensity that Damian's eyes snapped open, only to realize it had all been a dream. A terrible, terrible dream.
He had to find her.
Damian got out of bed slowly and stiffly. He felt a bit better, but still like hell. Regardless, he stumbled out of the room barefoot to try and find Raquel. Lucky for him, she hadn't gone all that far, as he found her upon sticking his head into the room next door. The lovely silhouette against the window was her, alright.
Damian softly padded up to her. He knelt by her, and simply watched her sleep. Time was unknown to him... but so was this woman resting in front of him. "Raquel," he whispered to her.

Richard nodded as he brought her over to the chair she had spotted. He sat down and pulled her had to join him. "where should we start?" He asked lovingly, looking at the book in her hand.
Raquel flinched in her sleep. But at hearing her name called, she let out a small, sweet moan, her body stretching as she barely opened her eyes. "Damian?" She called out, not sure if she were dreaming or not, Her voice was distant and groggy as she brought herself out of sleep , squinting up at him. It had just begun getting dark out and the moon was already in her windows view. She managed to sit up, wiping her eyes sleepily. "what is it? What's wrong?" She asked, a bit concerned.

"....here." Lorey snuggled up, half in the chair and half on him. She opened up to the very beginning of one book, which was shorter, but seemed to be a novel. Lorey read the first few sentences out loud, and soon enough they were both being pulled into the story of adventure and romance, though they didn't know it just yet as it was still the beginning.
Watching her wake up was like watching a dream come true. The right kind, not the ones he had just been plagued with. "I'm sorry..." he said, suddenly regretting having bothered her at all. "I just... I had this horrific dream a few moments ago." Damian reached out to touch her cheek softly. It wasn't all that bruised anymore, unlike the face he had seen screaming out in that nightmare. his other hand touched her arm, which immediately felt too cold to him. "But nevermind that, you're chilled..."

"I'm fine." She insisted, now sitting herself up a bit more, even though she had to admit she was a little cold. She took his hand in hers, gently pulling him down to sit next to her. "Tell me...What has you so shaken?" She asked, rubbing his back comfortingly. She was still a bit tired so she rested her head on his shoulder, her lovely eyes looking up at him with interest and care.
*is goingto let Lorey and richard read for 'a few hours' lol to catch them up on the time line here with these two...*

(Good plan xD)
Damian looked down upon her. Such a strong creature... stronger than himself on any day. Look at me, he thought bitterly. Scared by a dream, while she had life as a nightmare she couldn't wake from.
"I had a dream that you were being hurt, in the way you told me of earlier." His arm went around her to bring her closer. Why was he feeling such... warmth towards her? It was like she was becoming the Lorey in his mind. Maybe that was it exactly. "And I couldn't help you, despite all my efforts to. I am not even sure how my mind came up with those images, Raquel, but I had to see that you were safe. I couldn't just sleep them off."

Raquel seemed surprised that he was that shaken by her memories. "Oh...I'm...sorry.." She said after a moment. "I didn't want to upset you-" She furrowed her brow. Though his arm around her made her heart race. That and the fact that it ad really shaken him, the thought of what had happened to her. Someone cared for her... Still looking up at him, she touched his face with her hand, tracing out his fine features from his eyes down to his lips. ...oh his lips... She brought her hand down and looked away, feeling strange. "It was such a long time ago...I'm fine now..." She wanted to look up at him and give him a reassuring smile, but soemthing held her back. Was it a shyness of him being so close? or an ashamed feeling of her past and pushing it onto him as well?

Damian looked down at her still, his entire face tingling from that touch. Something clicked in that moment that made him want to be completely and totally reckless. He liked Raquel, that much he knew, and he wanted to take care of her like no one else would. Lorey... Lorey had Richard. Lorey was a friend to him now, and would never be anything more.
It was time to in some way, after a year or so being fixed on the same person, move on.
"If you don't mind me saying so, I don't think you are." Damian brought her face in his hand so that he could look her in the eyes. Her beautiful eyes... "There's this sadness that I see when you try to say otherwise. I want to..." His heart started beating a bit faster as he looked at her lips the same way he had caught her looking at his. "May I kiss you, Raquel?" he asked, always wanting to do as she wished.

Raquel swallowed and inhaled sharply when he asked, her entire face feeling suddenly hot. She managed to lean up a bit, nodding innocently as if she were a scared little girl who wanted him close. She hesitated slightly, her lips parted, waiting for him to simply kiss her forehead again.

But he did not kiss her forehead again. Damian leaned down just a bit to catch her lips in his. He was sweet, gentle, lingering only for a moment, but he had kissed her. There was that little worry in the back of his mind that she was only consenting in a repayment of sorts, but he didn't let it ruin the moment.
"I'm sorry if that wasn't what you were expecting," he said, laughing quietly. Damian suddenly had a very goofy grin upon his face, one that he could never quite remember having for anything in particular. How life had jaded him.

Raquel made a slight, pleasantly surprised noise that was barely audible as his lips met hers. As he pulled back, she was still hanging in the air, wanting more. She opened her eyes to hear him smile, then she heard his comment and tried not to laugh as her eyes watered up. She said nothing more but wrapped a hand around his neck, this time, bringing his head down to close to her lips before hesitating. "p-please...just..once more?" He quiet, now strained voice seemed to beg almost as she gingerly let her lips meet his again. With his lips touching hers, the world felt...right. Every injustice, every violent act she had witnessed or fell victim to...seemed...irrelevant and so distant.

He gave her another kiss, and another, each one as gentle as the last. Damian felt moistness from her eyes, and kissed those as well. How his heart wrenched in his chest for her. this beautiful person who did not deserve nor ask for any of the pain she held, and here she was still alive and willing to live another day.
"How did you become so strong?" Hugs, kisses, they all came when she wanted them, but for a moment, Damian had to hold her face. His eyes had to look deep into the ones of a woman who outdid him in every way. "How could this world and all it's done to you not break you? How?"

Raquel's breathing had quickened as he doted his affections for her. When he looked into her eyes, tears brimmed to the top, they overflowed, turning her heavy breathing into quiet, gentle sobs she couldn't stop. How could he think she was strong? She was anything but. "I'm ...not..oh god I'm not..." She cried more and more, looking up at him with desperation. "I've failed at everything in life... It got to the point to where I couldn't stand it..." She cried more and more, trying to continue. After a moment or two, she gave him one more detail that no one knew about her life. "....I've tried to take my own life more times than I can count or remember...But I failed at that as well..." She sobbed, clutching him for some sort of relief. "If I cant survive, but I cant even take my own life, then what else is there?!" She dropped her head, crying hysterically into her hands. Raquel had only been able to come off so 'strong' because she had numbed herself fro any and all emotions over the years. Dieing it up deep within her heart. But just now, Damian had undone all that, by merely pulling one strong, causing her to unravel.

She was promptly wrapped up in a hug and pulled right onto his lap with all the strength he had. Damian didn't cry, because he hated crying, but there was unmistakable anguish in his voice as he held on to her for dear life itself.
"I am so glad you failed at that, Raquel. Dear God, I swear, you're the only thing keeping me sane right now... Father's dead, what was mine has gone to someone faceless, the woman I love... the woman I cared..." Now, he couldn't even say what Lorey meant to him. Only a frustrated noise heaved out of his chest.
"She's sitting somewhere in this house in the arms of someone who I loathed the first moment I met. And everything before that was pointless. Parties, drugs, scandal, pleasurable company, it all meant nothing. Nothing." He began rocking her gently on the window seat, as there was nothing else he could find within his mind to comfort her.
"Raquel... you want purpose in your life, and I do as well... and so far, I have found mine by simply taking care of you and seeing that rare smile appear on your face."
