After several minutes skimming around at the carious clothing items and products, Raquel started to notice that she was still getting odd looks. She felt extra vulnerable since Damian wasn't there to help her. So, she did what she was best at: blending in. She found among with a few other choice items, a short, flowy dress that complimented her legs and figure quite well. She changed into it, hoping not to stand out as much as she did in her 'street clothes'. It seemed to work for one or two women had approached her, wanting her to try various make up and jewelry, going on about her stunning beauty and sucking up in hopes she would be a big spender. Raquel new nothing about jewelry except the silver bracelet she wore around, so she decided to hold back there. Make up wise, she knew a tad about. She let the woman at the counter giver her a once over with some 'new products', even covering up her already fading bruise. Raquel looked in the mirror a little shocked, again seeing someone she'd seemed to have never met. She took a few basic things before thanking her and heading off to find Damian. She tried not to act too eager to find him, though she wanted to know what he thought of her 'new look'. She saw him a floor below her, smiled widely, then hopped onto the escalator *or elevator, idk which a fancy fancy store would have XD* She waved and called his name out loud enough for him to hopefully hear.

Damian turned around at the sound of his name, only to see a strange woman waving at him. But, Raquel's hair gave her away, as did her fine features... but where was her bruise? Grey eyes could just make it out, but had it actually healed while he was away?
And... how could she be so lovely?

"Raquel..." he said once they were face-to-face, sounding a little breathless. "Look at you..." To him, she looked like a fine woman who could definitely be passed off as an aristocrat. The satisfaction of seeing her happy was proving to be more rewarding, though, than knowing he might be able to pull his little ruse off. "Have you found everything you'd like?"

He himself was already holding a few bags. It made him feel strange, as he almost always had someone doing this for him, but all was well anyhow. Raquel wasn't about to be his packmule, anyhow.

Raquel's face blushed a bit redder as she smiled widely for him. When he asked about her shopping needs, she held up a few choice items. She hadn't wanted to go overboard, ecspecially since she didn't know what she was doing partially. but she had chosen some rather lovely outfits that she had seen before on other high prominence women on the streets, walking to greet their boy friends or running late to a meeting with some aristocrat. She had thought their clothes were lovely, even if they were as fake as the fortunes they swore they had. "What's next?" she asked, her long eyelashes batting flirtatiously, even though she was simply trying to get used to wearing mascara. Again ti was these little accidental casualties that made Raquel so different. She always had this alluring air about her even when not 'on the job'. It was just who she was, and played a big part in how she earned money at a younger age, when she had no skills of her own. Except guitar maybe. Though she doubted Damian would ever want to hear that. A high society lady should be seen playing a piano or harp or some other 'feminine' instrument.

Damian gently took her arm into his after he realized he'd been staring for a moment.
"Well, let us buy those things for you, and we can simply walk around. Show you off, that sort of thing."
The smile upon his face was not the serpentine one he had worn what seemed like ages ago in the Ballroom, but something gentler. More sincere.

He walked her over to a register where she placed everything down. To Damian, she hadn't done considerable damage... actually, he had spent more on Lorey, Richard, and himself each time. It concerned him that she was holding back, hence why he had invited her to walk around a bit under the light of the chandelier. Here and there rainbows were cast, but he didn't look at them. Only Raquel.

What made him look at her in that way? Was it that he felt only guilt when he thought of Lorey? Was that why it was nicer to think of this creature in front of him then? Damian was becoming troubled, but he couldn't reveal this. Not yet.

"Well then," he said, taking her bags into his own hands. "I will have the gown delivered to the residence we shall all be moving into. It's a bit unwieldy now, eh?"

Raquel nodded something finally coming to her mind that she would actually request of Damian. "Do they sell instruments here?" She asked looking round curiously. "Or anywhere near here?" She looked back to him, her large eyes still wide and vibrant as a young girl.

"Instruments?" Damian looked about him at the store. There was a mall that connected a bit towards the back... it was a more common place to be seen in, but he would take her there to a store he knew of on the second floor.

"Yes indeed." And slowly they began to walk. He wanted her to take everything in, to say what she wanted after who knew how long of being told what to do. This also gave him an opportunity to find out more about this woman...

"Do you enjoy playing guitar?" he asked, looking at her as they walked. Oddly enough, the crowd was thinning out and they were practically alone.

She smiled, nodding as she grasped his arm and sighed. "It was just something that clicked for me at a very young age..." She noted, looking down at her feet, which looked rather dainty in a pair of sandals she had been told looked lovely with her dress. She tried not to scuff her feet, as she looked back up a little distracted. "It's really strange...when I'm my lowest...I sit and just play. It takes away all the bad..." She closed her eyes, remembering being a small gril who could barely hold the large gift she was given, let alone play it. But when she found herself sad, she sat and played, and played, and played. Many times until her fingers bled. even then she'd stop only to bandage them up enough to play some more. "Music is like...the only family I've ever had..." She added, thinking about it a bit more. "It helped me survive. It's kinda like my Lorey." She smiled, looking up to him with a nod. "It's something beautiful, that I could pursue if i wanted...but lets be realistic...Its not practical or rational to think I could actually make anything out of it..." She sighed. "Or maybe its like me...strange, off beat, something to indulge in..." She furrowed her brow, disgusted with herself all of a sudden. She hadn't meant to relate her love of music to Damian's love for Lorey, it just popped into her head. "Oh...I'm sorry...I Didn't mean...." She stopped herself. "I'm going to shut up now..." She frowned, knowing she had put her foot in her mouth again.

It's not practical or rational to think I could actually make anything out of it...

His brow furrowed, and without knowing it, he stopped walking completely. Damian thought these words over and over, until he realized what he had done.
"Oh... I'm sorry, you just... caught me off guard."

But she had been right. At least, in regards to him.
"You know," he said, taking up their walk again as if nothing had happened. "In regards to your music, that's not exactly true. Now, let us look at my situation: I... believe I am in love with someone who I shall admit I have treated horribly in the past. They want little if anything to do with me, have another man who they adore and who adores them, and here I am still entertaining this little thought of love. Now you," he said, gesturing to her in her entirety. "You have a wonderful gift that could be appreciated by many people because of your passion for it. My love can only eat away at myself and be shunned by the one it is for."

Raquel looked up at him. There was so much more to him than she originally thought. Yes she will admit besides his good looks and supposed charm, she thought he was just some rich boy who wanted to make a girl he liked jealous or at least try to distract himself form her in a cheap way. But He wasn't like that... He was actually showing concern over her, and even if he was still wrapped up in his affection for Lorey, he was trying hard to let her go be happy. After a moment of silence and a moment of studying his face intently, she spoke. "You're so strange..." Though this wasn't with the same sarcastic, joking tone she had used before. This was a marveling, yet endearing tone that made her eyes go a bit 'dreamy' as she studied intently the small details of his face.

Damian looked at her in return for as long as she looked at him. Raquel... was not Lorey. She had been through much, much more. And while Lorey still retained this little bit of hope that made her heart and eyes shine, Raquel, he had just learned, lived for her muse. The music, that must be what kept her so alive. It was swirling in her heart, waiting to be let loose to fingers plucking strings.

"Yes," he said after a bit of silence where they were both obviously trying to read one another's expressions. "I am. But so are you, don't leave yourself out of this." Damian gently reached up to brush his finger across the tip of her nose in a playful little gesture.

Raquel blinked a few times rapidly, not used to such a gentle but sweet gesture. She smiled up at him, giving him the mots genuine nad real smile she had since she'd met him. Before he did smile, but it was either laced with sarcasm, insecurity, sadness, or some other emotion. This was the only time she just....just smiled. She looked up and saw the music store above them. She bit her lip as if thinking a moment, before taking his hand gently and pulling him along. "Come on!" She smiled another pure smile at him, taking him briskly towards the escalator.

"Oh!" Bags and everything swung back for a moment before propelling him forward as he was pulled towards the escalator by the excited Raquel. Something had changed in her... something brilliant. Even he could see that.

"Aren't you excited?" Damian laughed. Gosh, he hadn't felt so... bubbly? For awhile. It was strange and new, but he didn't trust it. Of course a small part loved Lorey, but there was a genuine like and care developing for Raquel.

Raquel laughed. Something she hadn't done in months..no years. Had she ever laughed? Like genuinely relaxed and laughed at something? She couldn't recall but she didn't stop to think. She stood in front of the music store, looking at the various instruments for sale. She looked back at Damian once more before stepping inside, her eyes wide as she studied each and every thing, ecspecially the guitars. She tenderly reached out and let her fingers graze the tops of a few in a row. She looked like a little girl in a store full of beautiful china dolls. Her eyes seemed to sparkle as she picked up a seemingly hand carved, intricate yet beautiful acoustic guitar. She felt the neck carefully and felt its weight and size before slipping the strap over her head. She sat down on a near by piano bench and began strumming, realizing quickly it was out of tune. She immediately was able to get it in correct tuning just with her ear. She then closed her eyes and began strumming away, getting the feel for its acoustics and vibrations before finally settling on a soft song she had taught herself years ago.

Damian held back to watch her. Such a strange figure she cut in her fine dress next to those guitars. Each one was graced with her fingertips before she settled upon one, and with those hands, she pulled it from being an inanimate object to something magical.

He listened, watched, listened once more. Raquel was lost in the song and what it meant for her... what did it mean to her? he wondered.
Damian set down the bags as silently as he could as he took a seat somewhat near to her. Not too close, for fear of breaking the veil of music between them. And when it ended, he could sense that veil shaking just a bit.

"You play... beautifully, Raquel." But those words didn't seem right, nor strong enough. You are beautiful, Raquel. That is what he should have said.

She kept her eyes closed for a moment longer as the last strum rang out gently through the small store. "It's just something I do..." She said, suddenly saddened. "Nothing more. And nothing less..." She slipped the guitar off from around her neck, looking it up and down before placing it back on it's stead. She gave it a loving pat as if thanking it for the song.
