I do question his kindness. I just do not like his thoughts of the Air Force as my father also was in the service. Just because it's his opinion doesn't mean I must like.

Because they treat you so bad in the military, especially the low ranking recruits, I would start as high as I could(Naval Academy). Dont be a pee-on, because they've been known to actually pee on people..

I dated a guy who was in the navy. He had a friend in there with him who's in Australia for the next five years working for the military. But when he(our friend) left, he had the impression that when he got there, there was a good chance that the military would never let him leave.
You know when the gornment says, "There is no such thing as blah blah blah. No such thing happened."? Someone did some dirty work to take away all the evidence that could prove otherwise. My friend was one of those guys. Very secretive work..

I think you should go to Naval Academy. It might be harder, but (like everyone stated) you would make more money and have a backup plan if you ever changed your mind because you will have a college education. But I comepletely disagree with the respect part. You have to earn it. Naval Academy will probably be harder than boot camp. That's where you'll earn your respect.
