Etsu’s hair ruffled slightly in the ocean breeze. She was leaning over the railing on the S.S. Maria, a soon-to-be luxury cruise ship. It was a sturdy boat, built for easy sailing, but most of the great features planned for it were yet to be added, which was why it was chosen as the boat to sail from Azure City to Luzulabloom Village. With the start of a new year, all the leagues were starting up again, and there’s always an annual boat trip to Luzulabloom Village to let new trainers and coordinators start their journey. They never once spared one of their money-making ships for the “kiddie-ride”, as it was called, however.
But, Etsu didn’t mind the lack of perfection. She just wanted to get there, and this was the fastest and cheapest way. And that’s just about what every other kid thought, so the boat, needless to say, was far from vacant. For the first day of the seventy-two hour trek, kids had approached Etsu to try and have a conversation. Soon enough, they learned to give Etsu her space, which was exactly what she wanted.
Luzulabloom Village wasn’t far off now. The captain had announced that the ship would arrive in less then a half hour, so Etsu had gotten her pack ready, which was currently slung around her shoulder, and was waiting for the ship to pull in. It wouldn’t be long now.
Absent-mindedly, Etsu fingered the PokéBalls attached to her sash. She couldn’t wait to let them out and to have her first gym battle. Carefully, she pulled one off, and touched her finger to the button-thing in the middle. The PokéBall grew in her hand, and Etsu weighed it there for a second. She remembered the first time she did that – it had freaked Etsu out quite a bit. She smirked slightly, then through the ball up into the air.
The PokéBall opened, and a red beam of light shown out, and the form of a Mareep began to appear. Then the PokéBall finished, and it came down and landed in Etsu’s hand. Her Mareep, happy to get some fresh air, affectionately rubbed against Etsu’s leg.
“Maaaaaareep!” Her Mareep baaed, and Etsu smiled slightly. She knelt down and scratched her Pokémon’s head.
“Hey, girl,”Etsu said softly. Etsu stood back up, and turned her head towards Luzulabloom Village. It was only the beginning…

Vince was on the same side of the ship as Etsu except farther away from her. The boy had a Zubat on his left shoulder and Vince reached his right hand over and petted the Zubat. He smiled a small smile at the bat pokemon and then he looked out to the ocean sea. "Father I know you're alive I will find you."Vince muttered to himself as he watched the azure water flow in the ocean. He then turned his head slightly and saw Luzulabloom village, his home town.

"Jeez, I'd forgotten what time of year it was," Haruko mumbled as soon as she left her room for the last time. With the boat being so close to its destination, the passengers who were lingering were being asked to be ready to get out the rooms when they reached Luzulabloom.
From inside of her jacket, Eevee voiced her agreement, shifting to get a better look at the lot of trainers. Zipping her jacket up a bit more to keep Eevee from tumbling forward and out, Haruko began to weave her way through the traffic.
At least it made sense now why her father had laughed at the idea of taking the boat. "You have fun with that," was all he'd muttered. Touching the rail of the boat with a sigh of relief, Haruko caught sight of the ship's destination.
"Hey!" She protested as Eevee began to wiggle her way out of Haruko's jacket. Hopping out onto the deck, she didn't hesitate to wiggle her way over to the Mareep leaning against its trainer's leg affectionately.
"Vee!" She greeted, sniffing the Mareep out curiously.
Haruko followed up behind her Pokemon, bearing a sheepish smile. "I'm sorry, Eevee tends to be eager to meet and greet..."

"...The ocean," A young boy with blue hair quietly said as he looked over the shorelines of Luzulabloom Village. Trying to hear voices from ocean, the young boy closed his eyes as he began to clear his thoughts of everything. There he focused his mind until he began to hear two voices from the ocean. ...Alex! Where are you! Please come home! we miss you... we know your out there, Please... give us a sign that you're still alive! The voice rang though out his head as he tried not to faint from the voices ringing in his head. While he's on his knees a Pikachu appeared & gave him a small thunder shock to bring him back to his senses. Once the pikachu stopped shocking him, Alex took deep breaths as he rose back up.
"...Thanks Ash..." Alex said. the Pikachu nodded to him as he climbed above Alex's shoulder. "hey Ash, there's a boat coming here; a boat filled with trainers, what do you say we meet a few people there & hope to make friends?" Alex asked him, The Pikachu nodded as he agreed with him. "Ok then." Alex went away from the shorelines & into the piers as he waited for the boats to come by.

"Mar-eep!" Mareep replied, and too began sniffing the other pokemon. Mareep had never seen an Eevee before. She was interested.
Meanwhile, Etsu lazily cocked her head and watched the two. Once Haruko showed up, Etsu pushed herself off the rail, bent down, and gently picked Mareep up. Her sheep pokemon nestled joyfully in her owner's arms.
It was then that Etsu looked at Haruko for the first time. She glanced up and down at her for a second, before stopping at her face. The look on Etsu's face showed one thing for sure: she wasn't happy.
"Asuming it's yours," Etsu snapped, "Keep that fox away from my Mareep."
Sure, it was rude, but like Etsu cared.

Vince's Zubat, Fang, had flown off of Vince's shoulder and flew around the ship for a little bit, using his super sonic to make sure he didn't crash into anything or anyone.After a little bit of flying he flew over to Etsu and Haruko and their pokemon and he landed on Etsu's shoulder.Vince was kind of shocked.He ran over to Etsu and took the bat off of her shoulder. "I-I'm s-sorry my zubat loves t-to meet o-other people."Vince said, shyly while looking at Etsu's feet instead looking her in the eyes when he spoke to her.

"Eevee was just trying to be friendly, she's curious," Haruko replied after a moment, surprised by the less-than friendly response. She pulled Eevee into her arms anyway, wrestling a bit with the fox as she struggled to get back onto the deck.
Haruko wondered idly if this girl was a new trainer like many of the other passengers but rather doubted it; new trainers tended to be friendly and naive. And this trainer was anything but friendly.
"Eee!" Eevee protested, stubbornly, forcing her way back onto the wooden floors before shaking out her fur. Immediately began to attempt a conversation with the Mareep.
"I'm sure that if you let Eevee talk to Mareep, she'll be satisfied and move along," Haruko said with a small sigh.

Etsu resisted the temptation to roll her eyes at the girl's comment. She opened her mouth to say something back, but a bat landed on her shoulder, and Etsu jumped slightly, then flicked her hand backwards. It would have hit Zubat straight in the face, if the boy hadn't moved it in time.
So, Etsu proceeded to send her signature death glare a the boy.
Yeah, and I love people to leave me alone, but sadly not every one goes along with your wants, Etsu thought bitterly. The girl spoke again, so Etsu turned back to her.
"And I'm sure," Etsu began to retort, "That if you both shut up, I'd be satisfied and you two idiots would leave me alone. But, life's just not fair like that, is it?" Sarcasm was heavily implied throughout the statements.
Her Mareep, however, didn't think the same thing. Shw wiggled herself out of Etsu's arms, which certainly suprised her, as Mareephad never done that before, and she landed on the deck, in front of Eevee.
"Mar!" The sheep chimed happily. Mareep began to jump and swat a bit at the flying Zubat, playing around with the bat creature. It was actually quite cute, and Etsu hid a small smile with an excuse of a cough.

Looking over at the boat coming over the horizon, Alex could see a myriad of trainers talking to one another. trainers, maybe friends who accompany me on my journey soon. While staring at the boat, Alex could feel wind blowing across the ocean sea.

Haruko opened her mouth to give the other girl a piece of her mind. There was no need to be so mean in her opinion; they didn't even know each other. However she was distracted as Mareep chose that moment to join Eevee on the deck and began their conversation. Eevee was ecstatic as her tail began to wag, though it didn't take long for her to be distracted by Mareep's diverted attention.
Suddenly Mareep was attempting to catch Mareep and Eevee hesitated a moment before joining in on the fun. At half Mareep's two foot height, Eevee's attempts were even farther off as she did her best to vault herself into the air.
"Well, obviously someone doesn't agree with you," Haruko said with a laugh, eyes following the talking Pokemon before lifting to Etsu's expression. She was suddenly coughing into her hand as her eyes remained trained on the two trying in vain to catch the Zubat fluttering around. Weird girl, Haruko reflected with a small shake of the head.

Vince was a bit shaken by how the girl he didn't even know was being so mean to them. Vince smiled slightly as his Zubat flew over the Mareep and the Eevee. He thought it was quite funny to watch his pokemon be so playful.

Haruko's comment made Etsu pause for a moment, before she bent down, and instead of picking Mareep up again, she merely scratched her pokemon's head. Mareep obviously enjoyed it, as she stopped jumping and just stood there, happily taking her owner's praise.
"Yeah, well, I don't control my pokemon," Etsu shot back, her tone slightly softer now. "Only guide them. And if Mareep wants to play, she can." It was one of those few moments when pokemon get to Etsu. Usually, they're the only thing that can calm her down, if she gets angry.
There was a short, static sound that came from the speakers, which was followed by the captain's deep voice.
"Alright, all you new trainers!" The voice said, "We are arriving at Luzulabloom Village now! Please be sure to take all of your belongings with you, and orderly deport the ship. We hope you enjoyed the trip, and good luck with your journeys!"
Etsu rolled her eyes. Yeah, like they really cared.
The boat shuddered slightly as it pulled to a hault, and the hustle of excited trainers filled the air. Etsu grabbed Mareep's pokeball, and let her sheep return. Usually Etsu let Mareep walk with her, but with all of this commotion around, she didn't want her pokemon to get hurt.
She stood back up, and took one more look back in the direction of Azure City. There's no going back now.
And with that thought, Etsu started to walk off the ship.

Adjusting the strap of her messenger bag on her shoulder, Haruko moved to scoop Eevee off of the deck and into a hug. "Are you ready, Eevee?" She asked. "This time we're not just traveling; we're gonna compete."
"Ee!!" Eevee chimed, nuzzling her trainer before being called back into her Pokeball. After traveling around for years, Haruko finally was cracking down and giving herself a goal much to her own surprise.
Glancing around, Haruko caught sight of Etsu making her way off of the ship.
"Hey!" Haruko called, making her way through the bustling, excited crowd of trainers to fall into step with Etsu. "I was thinking maybe we could travel together. I could help out since I've been around here before. And your Mareep will have company. It's a win-win situation, really."

Vince's Zubat flew over the crowd and Vince. As Vince left the boat he saw Etsu and Haruko talking and he shyly walked over to them and asked,"Uhhhm m-may I-I come with you two? I-I've never traveled before and I-I don't w-want to be alone." Zubat then landed on Vince's shoulder.

Watching the Many crowds of people walk on by, Alex could hear faint voices being heard about teaming up with them, Alex wanted to join up with them, but he waited for them the recognize him. So he waited alongside with Ash.
