A smart-aleck little one, Waya was. Airez closed his eyes and let out a short sigh. If the child was going to act the child, then he would treat him thusly.

"The growls..." began Airez as his eyes opened once more, looking into the very shadows of the wolf boy's own. "The hostile demeanor, the harsh looks, the unfriendly manners, the protective shell, and the over all wanting of me to be away from Orphne."

Leaning back, the man lifted up his glass and took a sip of it, hoping Waya wasn't dense enough to ignore the messages. If there was anything he disliked, it was those that had a superiority complex over others. Right now, Waya was trying to gain something over Airez; Something that the darker individual didn't like.

Though, he couldn't seem too harsh, lest he make the boy hate him more so than before.

"I'm really just wondering why you are acting in such a way towards me without justification." his hand left the glass while leaning forward, pressing his elbows against teh table and looking of towards the distance, pondering if the steaks were ready yet. "My deal is that I don't want to have this foreboding sense of animosity directed at me every time I am around her, and I'm sure she feels the same way as I do about this."

For a boy of around 12 years maturity, Waya was rather intelligent. He just didn't have the words to back himself up. So when the dark fisherman started listing off his problems using a bunch of foreign words, Waya only caught the gist of it, except for the last part which he understood fully. And agreed with.

But then the guy had to clarify some more. Put a few words in. The wolf sat there, cozy in his booth, a little happy that he could intimidate the larger man enough to make him feel the need to explain himself more than necessary. At least Waya felt he had that power over his opponent.

It did make him feel guilty to enjoy the obvious displeasure in his company, but more than that, he felt the need to get some sort of petty vengeance for his mother.

"I do not know what you mean by all of that, but I think you deserve what you get." He slurped the margarita some more.

Looking closely at the boy, Airez smiled before turning his sights towards the kitchen entrance once more. This child liked to play games, it would seem. Dangerous games that he didn't know the rules to, if there were any. That supreiority complex was getting to Airez a bit. And it was sourly reminding him of a little kid trying to look down upon an obviously stronger opponent.

"Is that so?" asked Airez ina smoother voice, turning his sights towards Waya and offering gentle smile. Nay, he wasn't the man that he hated. There were other tactics he knew of in order to get what he wanted.

Air...

A calm voice and an orderly disposition was a better strategy for the moment being. Waya wanted him to squirm, that much was apparent to the man. Though, he felt he could do the same to him, if not for a few personal factors that he didn't want to think about at that moment. There were some things in like he wasn't willing to bring out that he knew of, especially when it came to using the personalities of others in order to gain what he wanted.

Never would he resort to 'that' man's methods.

"Why do you think I deserve it?"

When Airez spoke again, Waya's skin prickled with a sudden wave of nervousness. Quick to his confidence, but just as easy to be reminded of his place. Waya had only the one advantage, but now he wasn't sure of even that. For a moment, he'd forgotten that this man was more than capable of stringing him up by his tail and doing many, many unspeakable things.

The smile that painted the man's face was a well put-on disguise, but the wolf used the same face for his mother when he felt particularly sad about something. Deceit to disarm the other. Gritting his teeth, Waya gripped his fear and strangled it. Cowardice was unthinkable. But a fewer invective might help the conversation.

Another posed question. Waya hesitated, wondering whether this too was rhetorical, but when the man said nothing and remained hard, the boy loosed his tongue to speak.

All 10 of his fingers drummed along the table once or twice. "You poisoned mother."

"Did I now?" asked Airez in a calm, collected voice. The urge to defend against those words were surpresed rather quickly. While he wanted to tell the boy everything that was happeneing, he wasn't even sure what to begin or if Waya was even old enough to understand any bit and piece of it. "What leads you to believe that I poisoned Orphne?"

Another question, and another method of getting what he wanted; Information. This allowed him the ease of dwelling partially in the mind of the boy, seeing what he saw and hearing what he heard. To put himself in the child's point of view made it easier to understand what exactly he thought of the dark man.

Cold...

The icy drink did feel cool for some reason. Maybe it was just the room itself that was getting to him but for some reason he felt as thought a rush of air was pressing around him. It was probably just the anxiety of dealing with the child. This would be over with soon enough.

And where was that steak, he thought.

A chill ran down Waya's back, tickling his ears. Would Airez dare poison him too? Waya looked down at his "special" drink and remembered Sandy's unusually simpering smile. It was probably just another bout of paranoia, but Waya no longer felt he had the appetite for any "virgin kiwi margaritas."

Could he trust this stranger? Not if he had harmed his mother. He knew for a fact that Orphne's pain stemmed from that night long ago when she'd spent the day with Airez. It was Sol who took the boys to the headquarters. Highly unusual.

And so was the nymph's behavior following. She threw up some mornings and became dizzy easily. If Airez didn't notice, then it was because he didn't care.

Way to loose more brownie points. Steak wasn't even a periphery thought at this point.

Answering the best way he could, without provoking the man, Waya began to relate. "That one day, when mom stayed at your home while I was gone, you did something to her. You hurt her somehow, and now she stays at home sick. She does not run, she does not eat well, but she does not ask for help or mercy from you or me." The urge to sniffle was apparent, but the boy coughed into his elbow instead, blinking and looking away.

It was happening quicker than he thoguht it would Airez hadn't counted for Orphne's body to be reacting so quickly towards that one procedure he'd done not too long ago. While he'd already recovered from the utter turmoil that it presented upon his body, she was already moving on towards having his child. The speed of his own kind's method was nigh instantaneous when it came right down to it, so it had ot make sense some how that it would have quickened for her as well.

Hopefully, she would be able to endure something like that long enough to see it through the end. If somethig were to happen to her...

"Well, I can safely say that I did not poison her." explained Airez as he leaned back and let out a sigh, a deminished appearance drawing upon his face at the thought of hurting his lvoed one, "Perhaps I should tell you specifically what is happening to your mother, and why it is happening. That might actually be the best course of action."

At the moemnt, he was actually mumbling to himself now, arguing with his mind about whether or not the proper way to tell Waya was for him to explain the whole process. It didn't seem at all comforting that he was not completely sure on the whole manner himself. Of course, leaving the child in the blue wouldn't do him any good either.

A shift of movement and Airez's visage changed to that of a more questioning one. "Waya, what has Orphne told you about it so far? Has she explained anything to you on why she is feeling that way?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2005 7:09 am

Glancing back, it was apparent that Airez' attitude had shifted. A paltry worry as to whether the man's concern was for his mother's health, or the fact that she hadn't died yet made the wolf boy mentally wince and decide to take better caution.

He listened carefully. Waya had never witnessed a direct lie issued from this fisher, but it didn't change his mind about the matter. Airez was responsible for Orphne's suffering. So maybe it wasn't poison. Maybe it was something else.

And of course his mom wouldn't tell him anything specific. Everytime he'd asked a question about her ailment, the woman just smiled and said it was nothing, but that the little pain she was feeling was a side effect of something that made her very happy. Never giving him reason to fear, Waya had accepted her explanation without further investigation.

Now was his chance to find out what was really happening. "Mother speaks when she wishes, but not of this." He wanted to chew his fingernails off, but that was a bad habit.

That last bit was understandable. It was best that he himself did inform Waya about this issue after all. Orphne shouldn't ahve to bear the burden to telling the wolf boy something that would upset him in her condition. She was, after all, suffering enough already as it is. In turht, Airez hated the fact that his loved one was going through so much pain while he lay there comfortably where he was. Even if he was now a part of her, he felt like he should take on some of the tiring burden that was placed inside of her. Her womb was now filled with his own DNA and genes, molding to form a new figure in life that they both could take care of together.

A child in which to raise and love.

"I see..." came the whispered voice of the dark man, closing his eyes and entangling his fingers into one another. A deep feeling inside of him wanted to reach out and be with Orphne at that very moment. For now, however, he had to deal with this child and his misinterpretations, "What Orphne is dealing with is called morning sickness. It is a transistion that occurs when a certain number of events occur. I myself am responsible for those events, as you probably figured."

Before another word could come out, a pair of streak appeared upon the table, steaming hot from freshness. The dark arms retracted and returned to the sides of Sandy, who was smiling as cheerfully as ever; A foil to the situation. A quick whisk and her fingers combed through the treshes of ehr hair, pulling back the long locks all the way towards the bleached tips.

"There you go, boys. just call if you need anything at all." spoke the happy girl, turning tail and tending towards another table of drooling idiots.

When she was out of ear shot, Airez narrowed his eyes and stared harshly, "Impetuous whore..." Before he could go on, he took notice of Waya once more and then to the steak. "Has your appetite left you yet?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:08 am

More distractions. Waya's sights quickly skipped up her bare arms and over her slick neck. She was steamy alright.

Waya mentally slapped himself in protest and looked at the offered steaks instead. They were juicey, carved slabs of meat. Quite different from what he had expected, but happy to have it served. He felt something in the back of his mind spark and his tongue salivated a bit more than usual. The smell was so enticing. If anything, his appetite had only grown, so Waya shook is head in the negative, stealing a last glance at the curious tart that flounced away between the boothes.

He wondered what Prana was doing and how her and Faevan might be getting along. Keita too, the rascally old deer, for he was the most likely to find himself in a spot of trouble. Pals like that were hard to come by, and Waya felt a bit sorry that he hadn't seen them in a while. He was overdue for a trip to the headquarters. A side thought, but then, their waitress seemed to pull his boyish mind in all directions.

A deadly direction included. Airez' admittance to the trouble put him on edge. So this man intentionally made Orphne sick. Not a good sign, especially when one was about to dine with such a criminal. Airez wasn't like the other humans he'd known. He and Sol were different from the rest and he couldn't figure out what it was exactly, but that it was dangerous. Though with Sol, the guy had been kind and never interfered. However Airez was willing to sabotage his lifestyle, convincing Orphne to bring them to the house on the beach, and then force her into illness.

Waya's wolfish protective instincts flared up and he reached for the cutting knife, nudging it toward himself. "You used my mother, but I won't let you use me."

"Aren't you the one who is quick to assume..." commented Airez as he looked down and reached for the A-1 sauce already present upon the table "You still do not know the circumstances in which those events occured. If you must know, this so called illness isn't anything what you think of it."

Turning his head up as the thick, luscuous, engrossing sauce dripped over the meat, carpetting it in a layer of succulent taste and flavor. If that piece of meat had a meat, it would most certainly be singing with happiness. The sauce was just that intoxicating when it bathed the meat ever so much, filling the pores with it's rich, tender taste. That steak was getting the spa treatment of a lifetime at that moment, one that it would ultimately rememeber for the rest of it's 10-15 minutes life.

"Before I go on, can I ask you a question?" began Airez as he tilted the sauce bottle back, placing it down, then sticking his fork into the steak, "Might you know the different between platonic and sensual love?"
PostPosted: Thu Jan 20, 2005 11:00 am

He didn't like where this was going; the fingers of his right hand curled over the steak knife while the other hand snatched the marinade next to the A-1.

The dark one spoke with such efficiency that Waya could hardly keep up. New words and possible meanings swam through his head, but in truth, nothing came to mind for platonic and sensual. They were about as familiar to him as the idea of stabbing Airez with the blade in his palm. But he was still willing to try at both. "No, but you are going to tell me anyway."

It wasn't pleasant knowing that the person across the table had a dislike for you and your mother, aside from being big, mean, and possibly fatal to your health.

Sitting back, Airez calmly stayed silent for the most part; His fork and knife were well in his hands as he began slicing the meat into strips, bearing down upon them with his cutting tool. The juices inside poured out slightly, mixing with the sauce that was already present in the meat. Each slip was a few inches long, and around half a centimeter wide, allowing for the sauce to dripp along abouth sides and soak into it thoroughly.

"Really, Waya, lose the attitude. You'll gain nothing by acting like a jerk to me." spoke the man finally, stabbing into the meat strip and allowed it to marinate for a moment before bringing it up to eat.

After finsihing upon his single strip, Airez's eyes closed and he sat up once more, savoring the lingering taste for a minute moment, "Back on to the subject. Platonic love is something that a person feels in a non-sexual way. It's like the love between a parent and child, much like the kind you have for Orphne. You want to protect her, you want to seek comfort from her, and you rely on her. That's perfectly normal, and I'm sure you have good intentions in your mind about doing so."

A soft glow emmited from the man's eyes now, seeming to change in luster for a sheer second.

"Yet, the love that Orphne and I share is one of a different kind. In truth, she doesn't love you the same way that she loves me." spoke Airez as he handled another slice of beef, cutting it in half. "Orphne and I are what you'd call a couple, or lovers. We're a set of individuals who feel strongly for one another in a way that a mother and child can not share."

Taking the piece in hand, the dark character lifted it up and watched it hang in the air, dripping sauce down upon the plate. The browned meat looked delicious, attractive (for his stomach), and engrossing.

"Not only do we love each other emotionally, but physically as well. Understand?"

Resentment welled up in the little wolf over the hints at disinclusion in his mother's embraces. It was true that this man may have been part of Orphne's life for a longer term, but he did not cater to the nymph like her own child did. Dignity came in the form of his mother's pleasure with his progress and his own abilities to help her in everyway possible. Waya had never seen Airez hanging around to make the nymph breakfast in bed, or to fetch her the herbs she needed for her fevers.

For all he knew, Airez was simply the that Orphne clung to without reason. It made the wolf jealous to know that his mother's affections were flung upon this deceptive stranger who only offered a bed to her every other night or so. And it wasn't as if she didn't already have her own bed, at her own home.

But he couldn't be mad with the woman; she was the victim of the snake that sat before him. The way he feigned his love of Prana and the other children... It made Waya shiver, the way Prana would overlook him to get the attention of her "uncle." Airez was right about one thing, he held the love of others. A kind of love that Waya couldn't even dream of... because it had already been stolen.

The boy released the knife and pushed the marinade away so that it clinked against Airez' plate, disturbing the oil that swam around the steak. With a hard face and cold eyes, Waya peered down at his own hands and wondered if he'd ever be as large as the man before him.

Large enough to scare him away from the people he held so dear.

Though one thing hung him up. It was something he heard on the Discovery Channel (his personal bible) now and then. "Non-seck-shoe-all? What does that mean?" His fingers relaxed and lay flat on the table before the preteen would look up again.

An interesting question coming from a young one. Perhaps he was letting up a little bit. But by the sounds of the plate crashing into one another, Waya wan's the least bit pleased by the speech Airez was givining to him. This would certainly remain a very uncomfortable conversation, one in which he was unprepared for.

"Non-sexual, you mean." replied Airez as he took a short bite from the piece of meat dangling from the fork. "Non-sexual is the exact meaning of platonic. It means there are no sexual feelings involved. In other words, nothing that would prove erotic to a person."

After saying this, he took to meat into his mouth and chewed slowly, bringing up the words to continue his little lecture to the boy. It wasn't easy, trying to explain the whole ordeal of sexual and non sexual. Though it seemed easier to explain the former before explaining the latter.

"I figure you know what arousal is, or at least I'd hope you did." continued Airez as he looked up at Waya, seeing the distasteful look in his eyes, "If you touch some one in an attempt of arousal, that's sexual. I.E. If you were touch someone in a manner to turn them on, that would be sexual. If you say words to a person to arouse them in some fashion, that's sexual as well. If you give messages through your body in order to turn some one on, then that is sexual as well."

Sighing to himself, Airez put down the fork and knife while leaning against his elbows upon the table, planted at the bone. His words were slowly coming to him, thinking ahead of time about which way to go through it.

"If you touch, speak, and so on and so forth without the intention of arousing some one, then that's non-sexual. Understand?"
